What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
I came across a restaurant doing this to promote their product It's a challenge where you need to eat their spiciest serving within their set time frame they are giving $200 and only a few made it because they are serving the hottest and spiciest chili, it's a good promotion because many people will take if they cannot make it there's a $25 consolation which is not bad at all
I have also seen some restaurants doing promotions where they display a huge meal and challenge customers to eat it all. If they achieve doing this, they don't have to pay for the meal. It works like a marketing propaganda for the restaurant, and a profitable one, since most people will never be able to accomplish such task. Only few people are able doing this, and these are the people who should be considered the athletes to compete inside a food competition league. It would be nice to select the most efficient global eaters from each country and put them to compete against each other for a worldwide title.

Well, I really like this type of thing, if it's a competition that has to do with eating and not with putting animals to fight, because I think it's something great, this is like the slap contests, which I also find interesting and I don't know Why they don't consider it as a sport, where they have considerations like boxing, even with weight and everything, because they can't put someone who weighs 60Kg with someone who weighs about 100Kg, then when it comes to food competitions... It's Going very Well, now with respect to the type of aliens they should do it by Categories , that is , those who Compete to eat more Food , those who compete to eat more salads or things like that, those who eat more Hot Dogs, or those who eat More burgers , Everything can be done under a regime where they can have the freedom to choose diners who are quite large or Small depending on their Tastes.

Of course I think I'm Exaggerating in Saying that there can be categories too, but I think it should be fair, in this case not by weight, but if it can be put with the categories of foods, because as we have seen or we in our daily life We see that there are many people who always look for desserts and Desserts are also many foods that people look for , Although the sugar level can be dangerous, in this type of competition there must be doctors available for any emergency, it is done I am very aware that some when they eat a lot of meat can be risky for cardiovascular Damage, heart attacks can occur, so in this order of ideas things can be quite obvious, we would like to expand on talking about the different groups, even for those who are It is more common to eat Fruits , I have never seen anyone make a contest of who eats the strongest fruits or a group of fruits, which by the way, eating pure fruits is quite Filling and is Something very practical and Healthy.

When it's going from food contest to liquor drinking contest then everything here becomes detestable, food contest is acceptable and government themselves can support it, but that of hosting a liquor drinking contest is not a low level classic gambling one could bet on except for the thicker skinned  Grin one can get drunk and loose memory or run mad, i also don't consider liquor in this case as food because it requires food itself, it's somewhat a weird gambling that could be life threatening as well and should be discouraged.
That means it depends on the government because they will decide to give permission or ban the contest. But if the government can think that it is food that we might eat every day or that many people still have difficulty getting food, it might hurt them. And instead of holding a food contest like that, it's better for them to raise money so they can give it to people who need it. Many people still have difficulty eating every day and if there are still food contests, they may protest against their government. The government must carefully consider this and there should be no problems whatsoever. But it's best if this food contest doesn't need to be held.

True. And these types of contests are happening anywhere for fun where there are no doctors or ambulances in case something happens. Probably the worst I heard about activities like this are liquor drinking contests. And I already read in the news someone was dead after joining a liquor-drinking contest. The guy probably won after consuming too much alcohol but the expenses and the family left behind especially the children will suffer. Most participants of these types of tournaments which is common for fun in communities are not financially well-to-do people.
I know some variation of this type of betting would already have been taking place in some communities and localities so I am not surprised that you mentioned the liquor drinking contest. Unfortunately because this type of contest is unregulated there is bound to be reported cases and unreported cases of causalities even after the competition has ended. I therefore do not recommend any one participating or betting in these contests.

I wonder why the participants are really want to win in this contest when they can drink for free Grin so it's better they enter and drink with self control, not looking to win the contest.

Most of food betting always related with food that shouldn't be consume to much e.g. spicy, alcohol, soda, sweet etc.

I guess the event organizer want to see someone die from their event. Tongue
Even though there are lots of people who are still hungry out there, seeing this event is like throwing food away, but it seems like if hungry people take part in this event freely, I think they will win this competition because not only people like to eat, but hungry people. maybe you can win this match too, it also seems true that the food provided definitely contains something spicy or something that will hurt if you eat too much.

I'm just worried that this could also kill people slowly, especially since sometimes there are events like this in an area where the organizer is not responsible for paying for hospital costs if a participant experiences stomach pain and this is borne by the participants themselves, but if a special doctor is provided to monitor This event would be better, but it is not suitable for use as a sport because it is very contrary to health and disease, let alone being used as a bet.  Grin

This reminds me of the Chinese hot spicy food competition that I used to watch, it's been years since I've watched it last, it's all about how bossy you are at eating hot chilies, and there are few accidents where you can collapse and move to the hospital, it's a harmful game but fun to watch.

Within a few seconds, you will start sweating heavily and your eyeballs will turn red, You will be given the option to quit if you can't handle it, but you will lose money, To win, the opponent must quit or give up before you.

Such games are not safe but it's fun to watch, food is good for the body but it can turn into poison if you consume them wrongfully, I don't think it's a healthy game, just my own perspective.
Well you have a good point. Food betting or food eating competition might be exciting and interesting for the audience. But how about for those participants who might be at risk for choking or maybe poisoning wherein their body will react to the various foods that they have been eating. I can see it’s really fun but for me, this is not a healthy one. The bettors might be rejoicing once they win but for sure the participants will have an after effect on their body right after the food eating competition.

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?

I don't support this and this is not worth supporting, Food is considered sacred and should not be something that we bet on, this is so popular on social media and is considered a trend, We know people continue to do trending topics and interest and this food betting will just pass away, and it's risky for participants it promote obesity and unhealthy practice to foods.

Not everything that is trending on the internet is worth considering to be a sport because not people are going to support this, especially the nutritionist and the health conscious people.

Even you eat a healthy food, it's not good if you eat it too fast without chewing or consume too much.

So every food betting isn't good because it can hurt your stomach because it will make your stomach work more harder to crush everything you eat before.

Remember healthy is more valuable than money, don't take an unnecessary risk against your body to earn a small amount money that you can get it through working.

I know creativity has led to many breakthrough innovations we see today. Within the gambling world, we have seen many types; From bizarre kind of bet, to outrageous and well- horseracing bet, football/soccer bet, boxingbout/tournament bet, tennis match/tournament bet, basketball betting. Has anyone given a thought to foodbetting?

Honestly this may actually be the first time i may be hearing about food betting because it's not what is common, though there have been series of food competition i have witnessed from the past but talking about food betting, this is something new and may also drag more attention for people to give a try on how to gamble and bet with food considering that people are even hungry already, many would love to give a try.

is it like competitive eating? I think if it is a competetion with real people eating and not an AI genereated, it is important to consider the health and safety implications of competitive eating, as consuming excessive quantities of food in a short period can be detrimental to one's health. Any organized league or competition should have strict guidelines, oversight, and medical supervision to ensure participants' well-being.

This reminds me of the hot dog eating contest, but most sportsbooks rarely cover these contests. I wouldn't try betting on these events if they somehow become available on crypto sportsbooks because it's almost a coin flip and there are better events that give you better chances of winning.

As a bettor, it's not worth focusing on these events unless you don't mind burning your bankroll for the experience because it can be unpredictable, and using previous information might not be as helpful.

Competitive eating could become a sport, but i'm not that familiar with most of the competitive eating events, so I would also say no.

It all matters with the demand and interest in the end of the day.
If that is what it is, I will not change my opinion a bit. I am against it and will stay that way. I guess people don't always think straight when it comes to money. Whenever they get an opportunity even if it is ethical or not, they will take it. And I already know that every coin has 2 sides. So no matter what I say, there will always be a group of people that oppose my opinion. So it's not a surprise there. But to me, I will stick to my ethics.

Food is a thing that you need no matter what in order to survive. To waste it like that for entertainment purpose is never a good thing. That's all I would say.

I don't like the idea of messing with food. And to make it a sport and gamble on it? Hell nah man. I have faced some dark situations where I starved for 2-3 days without food. So people eating or wasting food for fun is a really bad thing to me. Try to respect food.

Have you ever thought about people who are unable to eat for several days and searching for food just to eat one time a day, even if it does to fill their belly? People are dying because they can't eat. They starve to death. So my suggestion is, to drop this stupid idea and if you are into gambling, then gamble on other sports that are widely available. And if you could, feed some poor who are in need of food with your gambling profits.

I hate the idea so much that I don't want to talk about it. But just to give you some advice, I am writing here.
We do have different perceptions on different things on which it would really be just that so normal that humanity would really be finding on things on which they could potentially be able to apply gambling into it even into the most common thing that we do have in day to day living which as long that bet or gambling could really be applied to it then they would really be definitely be doing it no matter what and this is something a very common
and come to think that even with the most sensual or private thing such as sex had really been made out to by a sport but luckily it was declined due to lots of criticisms and oppositions. In speaking about food related sport then there would be also criticisms too just like on what you had mentioned that food isnt something that good to mess with and making it as a sport. I do agree into this point but it would really be entirely be depending whether this one would be pushed through or not basing up with the demand and recognition whether there are lots of people who are really that interested or into those people who dont really like the idea.
It all matters with the demand and interest in the end of the day.

Ofcourse, this sounds very awkward - atleast not to me alone buh to everyone else.... This kinda sport or whatever you'll call it cannot be sellable as it can easily be manipulated/predicted.... Imagine you having a game and anyone knows that if it's not the first person, it'll definitely be the second person devouring that huge steak or whatever they're eating... Then why would anyone bother to place a single ticket?? Everyone would definitely place 2 tickets...secondly, you cannot introduce any other interesting options to the game....the will certainly be no draw options and limited options would only make the whole thing boring.

Betting on food is actually quite interesting. I've never seen anything like it before. It can get crazy but it's all for amusement and fun.

In my country we have similar challenges involving famous people on Instagram, like competing in streets. For example, I've seen challenges where two people compete to finish a pizza first to win $100. However, I've never seen anything like betting on people eating here but it would certainly be intriguing and fun to watch.

If they were to make an online food betting, I would like to give it a try with my friends for fun. Who knows, I might even win my first bet on people eating food:D

The only "food betting" I'd bet on is speed eating competitions, Those competitions are far more entertaining and the participants are actually competitive, unlike the people on the video you shared.

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
I'm not really sure but Personally, I don't consider it as a sport, but doing a quick search on Google it seems like there are people who consider it as a "sport"

This is possible as long as it would get enough popularity and community to sustain its existence in this industry. Keep in mind that anything could be gambled of; presidency or election, gender of a baby (?), or even dates of significant events. As long as there's a contrast with perspectives and as long as both sides are open for reward and consequences. So I guess this foodbetting type of gambling could possibly be offered in the future; especially if there would be a tournament to the 'players' who would participate with this game. Just afraid that results could be easily manipulated 'coz this would depend on individual's capacity of food intake whoch I think is something that should be cleared first to audiences if there will be serious individuals who would want to put this in reality.

I use to get somewhat interested in the Coney Island hot dog eating contest that is held each year.  You had at first Takeru Kobayashi who had perfected the way to competitively eat hot dogs (dipping the buns in water was his secret at first), and now the worlds best competitive eater Joey Chesnut has been quite entertaining these past few years.

I'm not sure I would ever bet on this though as I feel like cheating could be a big part of it.

If it's just a contest about food eating that would be fine but if it will be involve that anyone can bet on it I guess that will be easily manipulated. There will be just a random occasions that it's more real and good to bet on but if it's an organized one that includes betting, I'll doubt that to be honest.
Manipulations are everywhere but there are measures to prevent them, so don't worry. There were many contest about food already and then Mukbang is also popular on many social media sites but I never heard that you can place a bet on them. Maybe there are also people who wish they can bet on it? So, what the OP have shared is a dream come true to them.

I check the link and unfortunately the site involved is a shady one. It is 1xbet. Damn, I really thought it was a dream come true to them, but if there are gambling sites who are watching this thread, maybe they can consider the same thing? and for sure they can gather some audience for this type of betting as long as they know that they are trusted enough.

Interesting and funny at the same time, I love bets like this one but I don't see many people doing this maybe because it's not popular yet or people don't just like it, there is a hilarious game going on online too, I watched the videos at time where you have to make the other person laugh by either cracking a joke or just saying something, imagine if we can place bets on such shows? It will be very fun than casino gambling.

I am not a fan yet but I will easily become a fan of such bets because apart from using money to place bet you will enjoy the show too.

Betting on foodie is not that popular because of lack of interest, and I think it's a dangerous one too because one can easily chock on food.

Better not to bring food into the game it doesn't seem like a source of gambling as we eat for a living much less of an incentive to gamble. Although many places bet on food it usually depends on their casino sites betting for money is more popular but betting only for food is never a good thing. You are taking huge risks and one bad one can destroy your bankroll instead, bettors should be disciplined and limit their plays to their most confident games of the day. This can be good for businessmen as they will get money by selling enough food during casino games. But I think if gamblers win by gambling with money they can fulfill all their needs with money.

I can recall betting challenge to approach a lady and ask her out and this kind of bet is usually found among peers.

Nahh... I don't think I'll wanna do that, moreover am not a foodie so the idea doesn't impress me to put a cent on it.

Though not new to be as I had witness a food contest back in primary school end of year party, mehn one of the contestants got choked in the process and I couldn't stop laughing. I know some dudes who will want to jump on the idea but to me it's a waste of time and resources as it won't be continuously interesting to people as time goes on people might get bored with it.

It's nothing close to a sports game and I can't picture any precinct in sport it can fit in. You can call it a game of fun but not sports.

As most users stated it is not fair to use food as a source for gambling. Big number of people were living without proper food to eat, in such situation using food to gamble shouldn't be encouraged. This kind of gambling could be funny, and can be enjoyed.

From business perspective this seems to be good, because as an attraction one can promote their signature food menu with such competition. Here, person who fail need to pay. If a person wins, he should be paid with the prize money.

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?
I do not know if other funny and real betting exists.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?
I don't want to try betting on food betting because it's the same as playing with the food we eat every day.

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
Isn't there any other bet so that you have to use food as a bet? I don't think it's worth investing the time and resources but maybe someone will.

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
I don't think it's a sport but maybe it has something to do with ethics. Maybe for other people, this is an interesting bet, especially since many people like it. But I think this is not a show for children because they can make bets like this with their friends.

I would cite at least two very reasonable reasons not to bet on this:

1. Food waste... and even though food is not necessarily wasted, there are so many people going hungry in the world that using it in gambling is at least very disrespectful.

2. Health issue.... there are several foods that are included in these games, from fruits to fast food, but any excessive consumption of food is harmful to health.

Finally, I think this is a type of bet that could easily be rigged, because how will the bet actually know if the person stopped eating because they are truly "full"? It is different from other sports where it is possible to have "signs" that the person lost on purpose.

Eating is like the opposite of a sport.
Who's going to watch people eat for fun?

Believe it or not, competitive eating is a thing. And where there is competition, presumably there is someone out there willing to bet on it.

I remember Nitrogensports.eu having those lines before. Hotdog eating contest and that chicken wings eating contest IIRC. Surprisingly, it got even discussed in the trollbox every so often, and people were kinda interested in betting on those just for fun. I'm sure no one in their sane mind would bet on such event to make money. People are there to have fun and kill time.

as you said, this is more on the entertaining side of things. but would be more fun betting if you are familiar with the participants. at least, you can cheer them while betting a lil bit. and if the event is so popular, maybe, that's when these bookies will list this kind of betting event.
with how things are going these days, we have seen a lot of challenges (i.e. tiktok challenge etc) that are going viral. so these bookies are seeing the demand of these hyped-up challenges.

Not funny but odd things like betting about slap competition.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?
I probably would as I do watch people that likes to it but it might be a different setup if it's about food eating competition.

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
Maybe for entertainment, yes. But if you do not enjoy watching this and you're just new to it, you can check yourself if you're into it.

It's subjective to each who sees it. But most of the competitions that are on this eating challenges are more with who's quick to eat within a give period of time.

I'm a bit surprise OP didn't warn us that its from 1xbet.

I didn't really put 1xbet in mind when making this post. So it doesn't seem like am doing a campaign on their behalf.
I did well though to check out the 1xbet site to see if they had any betting feature for food betting. I learnt however that the foodbetting 1xbet was making a reference to was a new promo or reward options for its customers.
It is totally different from this post intention, even if it is gambling related.

Many users here are avoiding 1xbet because of its reputation, however, on the note of this kind of betting, it is quite new to most.
Maybe this bookie saw the potential of this betting game because if there are no people placing bets, of course, they won't offer it.
So it is the demand that they are looking at this betting game. We will know if it won't be a hit if they will remove it from their list.
If the event is quite popular, sure, there will be many players on this kind of game. But if not, I don't think they can get bettors on this.

Those kinds of bets can easily be open-street bets, but it would really not be easy to introduce them to the real casino, although they can include them if they want, but again, it's not a popular game. These are just some kinds of games that are carried out by some individuals in their locality, just as wiwo mentioned.
The ultimate question is,  how marketable are those games?

This is one of the reasons why casinos will not implement such games into their casinos,  because casinos are out for business and will only feature games that their know will generate enough revenue to run the business,  that is why their store so hard to only develop and implement more exciting games.

Food betting won't be an attractive game to many since not everyone have such background of getting into the competition just for a bowl of food.

There use to be hotdog contest before or burger contest, the ones who ate the most wins. There were fast food restaurants who runs this kind of contest before, but it seem on the best promo of these days. A contest on who ever eats more within 5 minutes is nothing sort of different, it just need on to be hungry as a dog and he'll east faster than piranhas.

Its not a sport but a contest. Its easy to know who would win in such contest since its usually the big belly guys who wins an eating contest.

I'm a bit surprise OP didn't warn us that its from 1xbet.

Just watch some part of the foodbet video on Instagram, looks really interesting though, but it's a no no for me, eating can never be considered as a sports because its not, sports is supposed to burn calories in the body, burn body fats and not add to it, so clearly, eating can never be considered as sports, even if one day, the entire world wake up and made eating a sports, I will be that one person to keep standing on the fact that eating is not sports.

And besides, eating too much causes obesity...

Obesity according to google is
A disorder involving excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems.
Obesity often results from taking in more calories than are burned by exercise and normal daily activities.

So putting the above definition into real context, can eating such foods as we see them eating in the video be considered sports?, No and never .

It is always fun to watch a live food show, but online foodbetting site? I am yet to wrap my head around this thought.
One fun of online gambling is that it can be done from anywhere and in almost any mental state, so long as the sight is clear, there's balance in the wallet and some matches or games to bet on at any time. Would food betting offer a 24hrs bet option at all time everyday? How will the odds be calculated?

The concept might sound nice, but if questions as these aren't answered thoughtfully, it is good as a building a castle in the air.

This is the first time I know that food betting exists. And I don't think using food as a betting material is funny like other bets. I've never tried it, and I don't think I will because it will make my stomach churn. But maybe other people besides those on Instagram will bet on food betting, and that's up to them because perhaps some see it as interesting entertainment.

But I once watched a show that ate the most burgers, and many people were watching that show too. But after that, I never saw anything like that again.

Might be better if the OP put up a poll and so we will see the votes. But I will assume that majority here are not going to be interested on foodbetting or even consider it as a sports to be put our money with.

It might be fun and interesting to see and watch this, when do people wants to out do each other thru eating. Maybe there will be some that loves to gamble on everything they can get their hands with. But not me, I will skip this kind of betting and just simply watch it for fun.

Customers joining the site to bet on their favorite foodie are expected to register as a member, just as is required in a normal bet site. They would place their bets on contestants who are expected to eat more or eat less quantity of various prepared food within a timed period/duration.

Uhmm nope, I don't find it amusing or interesting. Though we've seen several contest regarding eating something like 10 pounds of patty or a foot long, but that's it, we enjoy watching those but betting? Nah, at least for me and some other people.
Sports are still far more amusing and exciting to place a bet on in a lot more ways than a just 1 team winning. You can bet who will score first, how much/less would be the lead, and etc.
Casinos won't add games that's least interesting in their website though, as there might not have enough bettors to generate an amount for the winners.

Everything can be done, it depends on the policy of the event creator, but up to now there is not a single organizer who is interested in making an event or sport like this (maybe what Oshosondy wrote is true, that there is a big possibility that when an event like this is held, manipulation will occur)

Lol! It's actually interesting. During the school carnival, event like that are being organized and price given to best participant but placing bet on it sound weird to me. Salivating while someone enjoys the food and you possibly lose your money when your favorite fumble will be very a bad experience for me honestly. Aside the health challenges associated with it, it's not kind of us to turn everything to gambling. Very soon we'll have to place bet on how people walk since we already have that of sprinting. Some few months back, I stumble upon a post on Twitter where Nigerian lady was given award by Guinness world record for the longest cooking in the world  Grin I realized that we are heading to somewhere else than expected.

I don't think this is a sport. We know that sport, apart from being a place for gambling and betting, of course it involves health for athletes too, whereas betting on eating a lot like that is like torturing yourself and looking for disease, it's no different from cockfighting which for us betting requires someone to get sick and die, so I don't think this can be considered gambling.

Even if there was this kind of gambling in the future I would probably never be interested in betting on an event like this, let alone involving someone who is strong enough to eat a lot, it can also be manipulated so it is not suitable for betting events in casinos or gambling sites, but maybe it would be appropriate if the bet it is held at local gambling venues and not online. that obviously wouldn't be interesting  Wink

Looking at this Instagram post it seems like these are normal woman that are tying to win the money, for professional eaters this would be no problem to eat such a huge meal in less than 5 minutes. YouTube is full of videos from professional eaters that can eat huge amounts in short time. The funny thing is that most of these athletes are normal looking, not overweight and usually very fit. When I was younger, I always thought that the heavy guy would win these challenges and was surprised to see the small Asian guy destroy the others. Now my money would always be on the skinny fit person. The idea is funny and if there is enough demand for it, I think that people would start betting on it. From the number of views on the YouTube videos I know that there are definitely millions of people watching such type of sport. The question would be now if there will be bookmakers willing to accept bets on it. As from the Instagram video I am not sure if people would be willing to bet money on ordinary people competing in it, because the chances of winning against a professional are so small. The odds should reflect who has experience in it and who competed in such challenges in the past and won. Then there would also be some kind of oversight to make sure everything is fair and each contestant gets the same size meal.

If you want to bet on it for the novelty as a gimmick, I suppose. How you begin to calculate mathematical odds for something like this is beyond me. Cheating could potentially be rampant in individualized "sports" like this as well. In team outcome games, rigging becomes a whole lot more difficult. How do you verify fairness in something like this?

It's quite unique to see gambling like this, but if asked whether I wanted to gamble on a match like this I would choose not to, because the chance of the match being manipulated is certainly there. Not to mention that the risk of players choking is quite high which makes this gambling not really worth participating in.

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?

I have heard of the wife carrying competitions in some parts of the world. Men are mandated to carry their wives along very difficult terrain and the first to get to the finish line will be declared the winner. Some gamers bet on a couple they think will win the game and factors like the size of the wife and the strength of the man in put into consideration before betting. Some people have also organized husband-carrying competitions but it is not as popular as wife-carrying.

Quote
Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

I will not engage in the game of food-eating betting as a participant but I can bet on the game. I don't think I can be part of such a game because it could have negative consequences such as health issues. But it will not be morally wrong to bet on participants with track records. But I would like to engage in the wife or husband-carrying competition. This is because it is a kind of sport, it is fun and can bond the husband and wife.

Quote
What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

I am not comfortable with the eating competition because eating shouldn't be used as a sport and this competition has no health benefits. So I will not organize or sponsor a food-eating competition. But some people are skillful in such games, so watching and betting on them will not be a bad idea.

Quote
Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?

This is not a sport because the participants will not derive any physical or health benefits from the game. Rather it could lead to sickness and even eating disorders..

A food betting where it's live would be more entertaining. I do see the post from the Instagram page that it is somewhat fake because that's not how they would eat if they want to win the money. They are like just casually eating it and not really making it fast and actually winning the money LOL.

I would love to bet on those types of things but I think it will just fuel our judgment of people where it's "the looks" instead of actual ability to eat.

Doesn't sound very interesting to be honest. I mean, are there people that has "favorite foodie" like you mentioned? Sounds weird. I mean who enjoys watching someone eat competitively? That would make me nauseous. And how would transparency be maintained? What is stopping one of the players from manipulating the bets? Also, this will be promoting overconsumption and it is definitely not healthy. There are few competitive eating contest, but there's a reason they are heavily regulated.

Of course, I won't play as a Fooder or eater, I am interested to play as a bettor and choose a player I want. Because food, whatever is kind, if excessive you eat it without limit then there will be many diseases that perch in your body. Maybe, I don't really agree with this game if I compare it with too many outside countries who are starving or have hungry children. maybe the committee should also think about the impact in the future, If they wish, it is better to donate some prizes to countries that have starving people.

If it's just a contest about food eating that would be fine but if it will be involve that anyone can bet on it I guess that will be easily manipulated. There will be just a random occasions that it's more real and good to bet on but if it's an organized one that includes betting, I'll doubt that to be honest.

The truth can be a competition without Attracting much attention, normally there are competitions where the one who eats more steak than the Other , the one who buys more hamburgers than the other and these are competitions that tend to be very American style, where there are still some counties. They like to do it, at least I see them as much healthier than placing bets on fighting roosters or horses, which is now seen as animal abuse, and Honestly , for me, cock fighting should not exist under any circumstances, so if we We start to buy the option of relatively obese people who like to compete for who eats the most food, because it is not tied to me, it is more interesting than seeing those animal actors who kill themselves and that people bet on who is left alive, something ruel but I consider it very bad, now when it comes to food, what should be considered is that people do not abuse and throw away food because there is a lot of hunger in the world, so in these types of competitions food should be treated, eaten with the respect that is Deserved by others who in their ometno do not have to buy a Single bite.

Now, I don't know if this type of competition is held worldwide. because clearly things can deviate to those things, I remember that as a child I did Competitions like this , because I was a Child who hardly ate, obviously others beat me, I used to eat very slowly, and my friends very quickly , l The truth is, I couldn't no matter how hard I tried to eat quickly, and those who were fat didn't even have anything in less than 5 Minutes , as I was in sports, Obviously one eats more, one eats more, and one is I grew up much bigger, I made each session of my sport hungrier, therefore I learned to eat faster, a few years ago a cousin did a competition with another, the one who ate the most hot dogs, and my cousin won, and That's a pretty skinny person , but he eats everything they Give him , he's the competition so I've actually Seen.

Trust me when I say I found this idea quite amusing at first, but I don't know of any initiative that has come up with a food betting website yet, except for this guy I found on Instagram who has made it NigeriaVsFood challenge.

Here's the link to the Instagram page.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cw1-LsjIfGP/?igshid=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA==
Man, these guys are weak. There's probably a lot more you'd find interesting OP on restaurants that have challenges like this instead, I've watched a few but nothing really official from the restaurant themselves, only from the challengers here and there. Would be a great source of views imo. I also wouldn't really call this 'betting", it's more like a challenge really, so I wouldn't consider it a bet. The Instagram profile only made use of this content I think to promote his affiliate link or something.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
Nope. In the first place, I reckon it's extremely hard to replicate two duplicates of a food type to provide, and I mean REALLY similar. Even the smallest deviation can be an influence to a loss imo. It's interesting sure, but I have enough fun watching this on restaurants that offer challenges themselves. Besides, I can't exactly imagine how training for this goes lmao.

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?

in my opinion, another type of thing that I find unbelievable and meaningless are rooster bets, bets on presidential elections, these two things I wouldn't waste time analyzing and placing bets and even for bets on those who eat a lot I wouldn't bet on it, because it's something much harder to predict, in the case of cockfight betting I think it's something dehumanizing that people are doing, there's nothing in it that anyone could find funny, about presidential elections of countries in my case it would be like buying a ticket lottery, in the lottery the chances of winning are very small, so I wouldn't bet on the country's presidential elections. But if I were to bet on my country's presidential elections

I would bet because they are very predictable, so predictable that I would put my entire bankroll on the bet, because with the corrupt government of my country, for over 50 years, the same party always wins because they manipulate the election results, and this problem of manipulation and corruption is what could be seen in betting on those who eat a lot. who will guarantee that bet will be demonstrably fair? What would it cost for someone to give a lot of money to the guy who is going to eat a lot and tell him to purposely not eat a lot and then for someone to bet a lot of money that the guy who eats a lot won't eat a lot, no one can guarantee that this kind of thing won't happen

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

I definitely wouldn't try

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

in my opinion it is not worth spending resources investing in this idea, because the biggest problem with this is that there will be no way to guarantee that the game will be demonstrably fair. playing tennis for example, he is a guy who wants prestige, reputation and fame so he strives to win and be at the top of the rankings, so he will not accept bribes to lose on purpose. whereas a guy who eats a lot in a contest, has nothing but the money he won from the contest prize. so he can accept bribe

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?

This could even be classified as a sport if it were widely accepted, but it would be very difficult to have many athletes from many countries, and many countries in the world don't have many people with the money and time to eat a lot in a few hours.

Making a good service out of those it would take much money, probably more than it would take starting a normal sport bookie.
It would need a research of the market and also much advertisement to reach those interested in such novelty. There is a market, for sure specially in the United States where there are actual and reputable eating contests, though, I am not sure on the number of followers of that "sport" / contest.

Here in my city there was once an attempt to start a league for people who wished to participate in eating contests, however, in my opinion the reception was lackluster; it did not escalate in popularity, so in that sense, there will be communities and countries where people may not be attracted to it (beyond the initial curiosity of the idea).

I want to see what happens if food is used as betting material in the future? then what is at stake? I'm not quite sure whether I'm in on the idea of betting using food, but if that's something that people are benefitting from, then I'll have no ill comments about it.

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?

Hotdog eating contest. Spicy wings eating contest.. there are a lot of bet games that include food. Some are really common sidewalk contests that happened to make it out of the local scene and get noticed by some bookies.

I think I'll have fun watching it and it's a good stress reliever if needed, but I wouldn't put any money on it given how wild it can be. I won't know if there is a participant who doesn't get full or has a rare eating disorder, so the chances might be stacked against me without me knowing.

Has anyone given a thought to foodbetting?

Sounds awkward to me.

Quote

Not a fun of out of the box things than the normal betting games.  So I don't give a time to look for them.  However any kind of personal challenges may ring the bell.

Quote
Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

No.

They are making fun of the ugliness looks while the contestants are eating like a pig in their challenges.  They do not consider personal safety since most of these challenges are unregulated. It is also dangerous to the contestants since when it comes to food there is a threshold of kind of nutrients one can intake. Over intake of certain foods may be harmful to one health.  With the current food shortages, I do not think it is advisable.

I find it strange when I see guys who can eat so much with just the little body they have. I mean, where they are putting all of that food?  Cheesy
I can still remember Man versus Food before and then Joey Chestnut who is a world champion in many eating contests.

There may be other contests that are unique but I still don't find them in gambling sites. There's this one game World Chase Tag where players play tag, yes just the simple game back when we were kids was made to a worldwide sports game but they just levelled up the competition with some parkour moves and obstacles to make it harder.
I tried looking for a gambling site that offers this kind of betting but none was available yet. Maybe in the future if they get popular.

From bizarre kind of bet, to outrageous and well- horseracing bet, football/soccer bet, boxingbout/tournament bet, tennis match/tournament bet, basketball betting. Has anyone given a thought to foodbetting?
Customers joining the site to bet on their favorite foodie are expected to register as a member, just as is required in a normal bet site. They would place their bets on contestants who are expected to eat more or eat less quantity of various prepared food within a timed period/duration.

How's the setup? I mean what's or where's the supposed source feed of the match?

Is it "live" or pre-recorded? Or the setup would be in a normal restaurant and bettors will choose among those customers (but the customers didn't know that they are being streamed?) Not sure about how the interest of placing a bet on this type of match will get a hype.

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

Personally to me, it's not even catchy and not worth it for me to place a bet. Why should I when there's a normal and usual sport that I really followed for a long?

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?

Generally, if we have to compare it to the usual sport, I can't classify that as a sport.

Simply, it's just a usual tournament. Eating fast is not a skill. If streamed in a restaurant with usual customers, it's even violating the customer's privacy.

The most remote idea I have of a food betting is betting on who's getting crossed out on cooking shows or who's going to win.

How does foodbetting work anyway? it's not everyday that there's a competitive eating competition running amuck, let alone a site that promotes competitive eating in the first place. It's also worth noting that this is a niche gambling derivative that not a lot of people are really into. So it's not like it's going to blow up on the mainstream. While the idea is great in my opinion and it could have potential if foodbetting branches out to more than just competitive eating, stagnating it to a single game to bet on is not going to be helpful in making sure that the whole concept flourishes.

Yes, I like food competitions and enjoy watching challenges on Youtube. I think it would be an interesting activity to bet on (...)

I don't get why someone would enjoy watching these people eat like pigs while snot drips down their noses and into the food, but as they say, to each their own.
Food competitions are just as disgusting as they're unhealthy.
Actually there are many people who enjoy this, as we can see by the numbers of views on Youtube videos which pass the millions mark. If you search food challenge you will see lots of videos from professional eaters completing massive challenges quite often. I don't know how these guys maintain their health, but at least their physical form is slim. Probably they do those challenges only on weekends or once every week, 15 days or month... And on the rest of their days they follow a strict healthy diet. It's entertaining, because they overcome limits most of us aren't able to, similar to Guinness World Records.

There may be something like this but since isn't that popular you might not noticed it, naturally there are some competition within the locals of Nigerians who do come together for a challenge between two persons and whomever wins take the money home, one thing there is that it could be more dangerous to people because it's related to life and whatever being consumed excessive may course a serious damaged to the competitors health which in turns whatever that happens to such person might be subjected to the host.
Which at some point may course a serious damage to the families of both aspirants despite being played for sporting purposes.

I think that this is one of the utterly dismal and creepy "sport" or "show" where to bet or to see.
I find also useless any kind of bet since the risk of a "rigged" match is practically behind any corner Roll Eyes
I know that there are also some channel dedicated to "mukbang" but come on ... I would never place any serious bet on that but more over I don't want stimulate anyone to eat tons of trash food Sad
Exactly. That is a total waste of my time and money. And if it likes mukbang, then it’s more like a regular food  show than a food betting. Aside from I don’t like seeing people eating some exotic foods around, I also don’t like the idea that they are making their health at risk. A lot of mukbang eaters have reported to compromise their health and now they’re suffering from serious health problems.

Eating is like the opposite of a sport.
Who's going to watch people eat for fun?

Yeah,I find those stupid tournaments of people extremely obese who compete with each other who eats the most hamburgers in the shortest amount of time,I have seen some of them several years ago and some people even vomit during the tournament, nothing attractive.

The same would be with food betting, who would love to bet on guys that eat more hamburgers than others, that is non sense for many classical sport bettors who most likely bet on soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball and F1 as the most preferred sports to bet on.

- Not totally funny but it was banned and not approved on the time that it was suggested- Remember that SEX sports? and you could really be able to make out bets?
This is the first time i've been hearing about it and its not funny but rather ridiculous.  Cheesy

- About eating contest or sport then i would definitely be able to skip out, there's no way that you could eventually be able to know on how fast a certain person
would able to much a particular food. LOL!

- Depends on your mood and interest but most likely people would be finding out to be these type of things to be non that interesting i should say.

- Eating isnt a sport but we know that when it comes to world where everything could really be considered to be done or something that could be declared.
Even if we do say our personal opinion that eating isnt a sport but once it do make out some huge interest then it can be called one.

How does an online Foodbetting site sound?

Disgusting, that's for sure Cheesy

It's not sport, it doesn't have professional judges or any authority that would oversee all competitions. Nowadays rules for each competition are established by sponsors.
Technically you could bet on that, but which casino will list local competitions that features unknown participants?

IMO this is not going to happen and even if it was, it wouldn't be something I'd risk my money betting on.

I wouldn't call this a sport, instead it should be a competition. i have seen so many of this food eating contest down here in my country and it is always fun. i can't bet on such because you wouldn't be able to know who will win and it can also be manipulated. You can't find such game in the casino because it will be boring for gamblers to bet on. I have a friend that when we were young,he loves to partake in such competitions and he always win
That is it,  if the game is involving multiple people competing for who can consume the highest portion of food and that is more of a competition and not game that could be implemented into he casinos,  this form of games are more locally breed and this is why a lot of those that play it are found in the same locations.

I for once have taken part in a similar game like a food competition but the ultimate prize is always the portion of the hot food you consumed more than your opponen Wewe never bet with money anyways it was just for the fun and nothing else.

I have a friend that when we were young,he loves to partake in such competitions and he do always become the winner.

There is a viral game called 'flip the bottle challenge ' which had massive audience recently and is still making waves. People get to flip a bottle to win a turn to have a big bite or sip at the food and drinks place in front of them.
So many variations were seen on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook. Infact social media was just all about this game.

I think I can classify this food game as a competition, but if it gets turned into an online betting kind of fun app/platform, to me it qualify as a bet site or gambling site too. I don't know about manipulation, but we have seen worse games and bets with more that faithful competitors and organizer with integrity.

How can food betting be summarized as betting? There is no better initiative because it is not entirely a bet.
I often glimpse food videos on some Youtube shows but there has never been about betting maybe this is the first time, but I don't know if there are casino sites that do it.
NO, I won't invest the resources, it doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think that this is a good idea, since it is too dangerous . What if the contestant choke while doing that? we can watched a live action of a man dying? I will not watch that maybe other people too. Also, most of the foods that i saw they are eating in a competition is fast food I am not saying that I am not eating those food but the thing is consuming a lot of it will not bring them in good shape.

While I absolutely love cooking and food as many people do, I would say that this is not worth investing in or researching further due to the problems that the entire concept brings to the table in the first place.

The problem that I would see manifest here is that gambling is something that should be done with probability based games and not anything else. Otherwise the entire game could be manipulated so that a fair game would become impossible. Like betting on chess games, even though the opponent could be using chess bots to cheat his or her way to victory.

I am aware that there is something called Sleeping Championship but not sure if there is any site actually lets people bet on that game.

Well, my point is you can bet any anything literally anything Some may be organized and others are just coincidences/fun bets between friends so speaking of food competitions I am not a big fan of such games because it doesn't involve any skills they need unique ability like super fast digestion and organs prepared to take all in, etc. so it may be a fun experience, not a sport as far as I am concerned.

Nah, not sure about Food betting though, doesn't sounds right. But the world is moving very fast right now that we have weird competitions and sports already.
And for me I don't consider it a sports though, I mean how can someone categorically call it a sports?
Just like the majority, I'm not a fan of it and so I wouldn't bet if ever there will be one offered by crypto sports bookies.

I don't support food competitions since they often lead to serious health problems that the contestants ignore just to have some fun and show off. Our bodies are not made to ingest such ridiculous amounts of food and people who do it often get serious problems with stomach contractions, since it's a muscle that can stretch, but stretching it too much damages it, just like any other muscle can be overworked and damaged, it's just that you can't fix this without a surgery and you can easily die from it.

IMO eating competitions are much more dangerous than MMA and people often come unprepared. They don't know what can happen to them.

Also, there's not much professional supervision, no real federation that cares about people playing by the rules. It's not a sport as far as I know.

We have so many types of bet that can not be included in a casino and these local games are found in different geographical locations that differs in setting and kind from place to place,  I have taken part in food betting before way back as an undergraduate student,  and even water battle seating betting also.

We have so many of such locally played games that are not possibly listed on casinos and that can be because casinos already have their hand full with so many other games that take their attention away from developing such games and implementing them in their casinos.

Yes, I like food competitions and enjoy watching challenges on Youtube. I think it would be an interesting activity to bet on, but usually it's really easy to pick the winner, so I don't know how worthful the odds would be. To place a bet to make 10% profit or less over it doesn't look an interesting alternative.

Just like I've said above.
