As far as I know there's no mining in IOTA. It is not a blockchain so there's no block to mine. The network speed grows with activity and not through mining.
The more people transacts the better the network operates.

Transaction fees are one of the major factors in the Cryptocurrency industry. the fee is mostly determined by cost of mining which is in turn reflected in the amount charged for transaction.

IOTA however is only one of the few cryptos that boast of Zero fee transaction. does it mean that its mining cost nothing or how do they acheive this.
