The trust system is very important, esp when dealing in goods and services- trust is mainly earned or lost here; it can also help identify scammers and spammers as well.  Also, it is important as it can be a guide as well as to someone's trustworthiness, but still DYOR as some flags can be erroneous.  Never blindly trust, always verify first as trust is earned.

Trust list: backstabbers: users disagree, one user trust the other, while the other distrusts him.

But what if a given trust is misused only for personal gain? whereas according to others the negative belief is misdirected or unnecessary.
Take note that by default only the feedback posted by DT members are shown in the trust page and the other feedback are shown as untrusted feedback.
If someone abuses the system and gives positive trust or negative trust to other users without any logical users, then the DT members can distrust his/her judgments, so his/her feedback are not shown by default.
You can also exclude anyone you want from your trust network.

I don't really understand the trust system, all I know is that if trust is a color + green number, there are members who get the trust of others for what they do or a transaction that is carried out successfully.

But what if a given trust is misused only for personal gain? whereas according to others the negative belief is misdirected or unnecessary.
whether DT members will be warned about such abuse or free trust rules for any reason.

I also get +2 trust from the transactions I make.

Ofcourse trust system is really important in this forum Because it can be used to prevent scammers in this forum site. Again if you sell or buy any goods or services then trust system will help you a lot. So it's a very important part in this forum and that's my opinion.

So every member can add another member to their trust list, but what matters is the feedback they give on why the member should be trusted.
Both matter. It's just the feedback users will firstly read when they're going to have a deal with the particular user. Trust list is more of a list which you can make conclusions about a certain user, according to others' integrity. For example, if a user is being included into many trustworthy users' distrust list, you ought to take into account his sayings with a grain of salt.

Feedback exists if you've had a personal experience with the said user.

As a result, trust and feedback are primarily concerned with forum members who sell items or provide services.?
Not only. I have many users in both my trust and distrust list, while I've never interacted with them in a transaction, either because others have had, or just because I've talked with them and know.

It would also be useful to ask for what purpose did you come to the forum? Most of the answers above were given to you about the trust system in case you are going to trade with someone. Do not be lazy about looking into the trust of a person who can become your trading partner. A lot of scams were made on the forum by newbies, both on the part of the seller and the buyer. People do not read the warnings and subsequently, fall for the bait of scammers.

The second part, which is taken very seriously, is getting negative trust from DT members, which entails the refusal to participate in subscription companies. To prevent this from happening, do not try to deceive the forum. Cheating, plagiarism, and other dishonest acts can show up quite late. A person may already rise in rank, but his deceit is still revealed sooner or later. Anyway, until you have fully met the forum participants, it is not necessary for you personally to create a trust list.

It's not important if you're not participating in the forum's marketplace, fulfilling deals and sales. Fortunately, compared to other forums I've been to, the trust system is solely based on past transactions with other members and not based on a so-called reputation system where anyone can give each other positive or negative feedback without too much backstory. This way, you can't be targeted if someone doesn't like you based on what you're posting, but only through your transactions.

I was in a similar forum a few years ago, and it was easy to receive both negative and positive feedback with no background to back it up. It resulted in non-legitimate feedback in many users, which ended up in me getting scammed because you could never be certain if it was valid feedback or not. Not only did I lose money, but also the ability to be trusted, since the reputation system was so broken that you'd get negative feedback from the scammer's friends.

Fortunately, this isn't the case with Bitcointalk.

The Trust system is important when you are going to something on the forum where it's related to "trust". For example, if you are going to exchange currency with me, here trust system stands for. You can see by previous records and history of trading from the trust system if any. If there is nothing then you have to take help from an escrow service who have enough trust here. This is the main theme. On the other hand, the trust system helps prevent scammers from the forum that example I give you above. Regarding adding people to your trust list, inclusion or exclusion depends on whether you trust a user's judgment or not. I believe the above users give a better explanation.

Yeah. It's within your power to do that but, you must do that with reasons and not just adding any random member just for the sake of exercising your rights as a forum user. Clearly there is nothing stopping you from randomising those that appears on your trust list but, its not the best of ideas.

When it comes to the trust system as per tagging someone, its entirely different from the trust list. They convey similar kind of message. One is clearly on the positive and that is, the truth list while the other could ether be negative or positive. It goes out to those that sells some stuff, runs some programs, heads some organisation, renders some services and those to have shown signs of untrustworthy behaviours.

In all, its a personal opinion and subjective in interpretation.

I noticed you created your account few weeks ago, if this isn't your alts account then you are new to the forum which I will recommend you to focus on other aspects of the forum, I don't think trust system is really useful for you for now, so focus on other things that are useful, you can build  your profile by creating quality posts and ranking up your account to higher rank, also try to familiarize yourself with the forum and forum rules, trust system is kind of useless to you for now. When the time comes you won't have to create thread before you will know how it work's.

To me trust system is individual based to get me wrong we have D's and this guys has a stronger rating than any members rating, this is not in any way to flaw the trust rating but tells say you had a business dealings with a trusted Dt members you are probably to get recommendations from that DT members which would add to you trust rating but honestly this not not to be mean you are completely trusted because this doesn't make people change along the line.

I believe no matter the the trust level of a member you also need to be careful having dealings with that said people trust can be gotten and their are chances of hacked account of a trusted person or complete change of that person.

Read the references some users suggested about trust systems and what they are used for, I hope that might answer your question.

There are two options, you can trust someone and put them in your trust list because you trust this user's judgments and vice versa, if you don't then use [~] before their username. But if you trust them for other reasons [e.g. contributions, services or something like that] then that's up to you.

I apologize if this bothers you, sir, and I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on this.Does it mean rating doesn't mean anything to a member who is only here for discussion?
You can read the posts and create new posts regardless of your trust score and your trust list.

So every member can add another member to their trust list, but what matters is the feedback they give on why the member should be trusted.
I feel you haven't still understood how the system works.

You can go to someone's trust page and post a feedback. With your feedback, you actually say that I don't trust this user. You can also post a comment and tell the community why you don't trust this user.  You can also tell the community I trust this user.
Take note that with posting a feedback, you don't make any change to your trust list.

With adding someone to your trust list, you actually tell the forum (not the community) that I trust this user's judgments. You can also go to your trust list and tell the forum that I distrust this user's judgments.
With creating your trust list, you actually tell the forum which feedback you want to see and which ones you don't want to see.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
It is recommended to add members to the trust list as objectively as possible, I mean if you have identified and weighed the member has used the trust system according to the original purpose. Lately the behavior of some DT members (in my opinion) is a bit off, sending feedback that actually has no financial risk.

I opened my Bitcointalk profile and saw a place written "trust," but I ignored it. I recently came across a thread that discusses trust but does not provide a comprehensive explanation, so I went back to my BTT profile to check the trust and add members to my trust list. I read through and saw where I was asked to add members to my trust list and how I could only add 4 members to my trust list. I still don't understand how the Bitcointalk Trust System works; how I can add members to my trust list; whom to add to my trust list; and why the trust system is important or less important. I wish to learn from this thread about the BTT trust system and also think it could serve as a learning thread for other newbies like myself.

thanks all, Dr.B_S 💌

You don't need to add anyone if you didn’t know them very well. There's no need to rush things on adding person in your trustlist if you don’t have any connection or transaction to any user here. Trust system original purpose is for the marketplace safety on trading. It will help you to know whether the person you are dealing is high risk or not.

That time will enter the importance of your trust list. You can add the person that you made successful deal in the past with you so that you can mark them as trusted for you. It will help too other people that will deal to this people to trust him easily due to your feedback.  Simply just use it for your transaction/deal here and never use it politically if you want to make things simple.

It's totally up to the person, but Trust rating means little to nothing to me personally. Trust ratings are mostly given after transactions/trades that turned up well/badly; in which these don't matter that much to me. Though sometimes trust ratings(negative) are also given to known spammers and known fudders and such.

Everyone can have a trust list, which they note who they think is trustworthy and who isn't, but feedback is something you want the rest of the users to know.

Be careful to not confuse trust list with trust score / feedback.
