Ethnicity and Religion are two cankerworms that have eaten deep into the fabric of society, Ethnicity is another form of racism and as we have it unfortunately, some people who are quick to point fingers against racist and then practice ethnicity in any form are not any different.

Religion is another which have pushed some who are extra religious out of practical reasoning, such individuals are usually rigid at times and may not give room for any to try change their opinions which is bad.

Ethnicity and religion is a factor in a region that makes one to be sentimental, there is nothing good about it . It brings selfishness and it set one backwards to grow up. There is nothing like real love for one another  , it generates development in all things.

Every individuals had the right to belong to any religion or ethnic group they desire.

Using Nigeria as a case study, these terms politics, ethnicity and religion are use interchangeably because in practice they are the same.

Religious bodies are not different with political parties because they are fused together.

All the corruption, money laundering, killings, kidnapping, unemployment, poverty and political instability are caused by bringing religion and ethnicity into politics.

These are the problems of your society, not in any way religion. Religion is everywhere, yet most places of the world operate a corruption free government. Religions preach peace, kindness, and love. I think the real problem of the society is the atheists living in it. You have attributed the problems of the society to religion, without explaining to us how religion has caused these problems. You should be able to explain how money laundering and unemployment is caused by religion.

I'd contend that the problems that you list are primarily a legacy of colonialism. If you want a root cause, you need to cast your eyes towards Europe. 'Post-colonial' is not the same as 'never happened'. Look at Rwanda. Look at Zimbabwe. Look anywhere on the continent.

Unfortunately religion is being used to brainwash and manipulate

It's not a bug, it's a feature. If religion is doing these things, then it's working as intended. But that's not the cause of the issues listed by the OP.

Actually all of the killings and other problems are caused by a lack of religion. Religion bonds people into cohesive groups, and governments don't want that. Unfortunately religion is being used to brainwash and manipulate people into performing acts which are contrary to the fundamental principles of their religions.

I don't think atheism can solve this, it's not like you can force those people to leave their religion.

You are right mostly, especially in the aspect of ethnicity. However, when it comes to religion, it is not about one becoming an atheist. The issue is that religion is being used to manipulate the people into moronic obedience and alliance. The relevance that religion is supposed to have in the life of their followers is being taken advantage of to control them.

Do you really believe that this issue is limited to Africa? I am a regular visitor to India, and I could see that the people there are easily divided on the basis of caste, religion and language (on that order). The same can be said about almost all the South Asian nations. Even in Afghanistan, which is 100% Muslim, there is violence between various ethnic groups (Tajik vs Pashtun, Uzbek vs Hazara.etc).

In Canada, last month the separatist Bloc Québécois picked up 40% of the seats in French speaking areas. Belgium is divided between the Flemish and French speaking areas. In Morocco you have sour relations between the Arabs and the Berbers. In 100% Muslim Turkey, a bloody conflict has been going on between Turks and Kurds for many decades. And one of the worst genocides of recent times was carried out in Rwanda and Burundi, by Hutus targeting Tutsis.

Add in the religion as well, and you will get an even worse situation. In Southern Thailand there is fighting between Muslims and Buddhists (same in case of Myanmar and Sri Lanka). In India and Bangladesh, you have Hindus and Muslims fighting each other. Jews and Muslims are involved in a conflict that started at least a thousand years ago.

And the biggest joke is that Africa hardly had any Christians or Muslims a hundred years ago. These people recently converted to semitic religions and then they started killing each other. Similar to some of the Indian states like Mizoram and Nagaland. The Mizos converted to Christianity in 1950s and the Nagas in 1970s. The conflict started soon after.

In homogenous nations like Korea and Japan, there are no reports of such incidents, because there are no ethnic minorities there. Honestly, I can't name a single heterogeneous country, where people belonging to different ethnic groups and religions are living in perfect harmony.

oooooh the Christian is the best and believers of good. But its not the case, most of the christians are the one who always relate politics into religion that must always be separated. They're the ones who will always quote something from their religion to "JUSTIFY" their belief in politics, which is actually dumb.

No matter how religious you are, it will never be a factor to determine if you are good or evil.

Facts. That's why there is in need to always remind these religious peeps about the separation of CHURCH AND THE STATE.

The word you are looking for is tribalism.

Religions, ethnicities, linguistic markers are just innate human desires to belong to a tribe.

It forms the basis of how one mentally divides people into heterogeneous groups.

This always leads to social conflict.

Religions are followed by the vast majority of the human population so people will have an unlimited source of reasons to hate others.
Both within and outside of their own religions.  Look at the Christian, Jewish, Muslim denominations.
The followers of each denomination would tell you they are following the 'right' version of their religion. LOL.

How do you erase ethnicity? Politicians leverage on their home state and jurisdiction win elections. I believe you are suggesting Atheism as a solution to corruption, money laundering, killings, e.t.c

Leveraging ethnicity is pretty typical in most multi-ethnic countries. They use that as a springboard to jump into national which they then use to buy perks for their home region to further solidify their hold. I don't really think there's much that can be done about that.

I don't think atheism can solve this, it's not like you can force those people to leave their religion.

The funny thing about what you say is, the backward populace is often Christian, who will be saved in the Judgment. The promoters of evil mostly are not really Christian, and won't be save if they don't convert. So, it is the backward populace who has the right view of things.
