Yeah...

  • Citizens that avoid paying taxes
  • Citizens that try to get benefits when they're not able to legally do so
  • Government that doesn't bother to collect taxes (especially from those that are dodging payment)
  • Government that doesn't fight the people who are collecting benefits illegally

It was only a matter of time, it's simple math that gets a country upside down in this type of situation.

P.S. The US doesn't do that shit, not at that scale. Ask the Americans, their tax collection agency, the IRS, is a big shadowy figure over everybody

The good old days:

The corruptive gov is not doing their job properly! The regulation is so loose! They keep borrowing money recklessly.

Apparently the Greeks voted No because they have nothing to lose, it's kind of admirable - going into the riskiest part of their future, on their own, as confidently as they entered it.

I am no expert on the topic. However,

Quote
"We need to declare that we no longer recognize the debts, go back to drachma, and then the government can adjust the exchange rate," Drakia, a 47-year old public servant, said. Only after dropping out of the euro, she said, could Greece return to prosperity.

So people think that you can just simply declare that you have no debt and not pay it? Roll Eyes
Also, as far as I read parts of the referendum it included erasing a HUGE part of Greek debt on the cost of private investors and the EU.
The ppl who have that ideas are so naive! How could they just default the loan and print their money? Then the prosperity would come to them! They are not thinking the reasons behind this crisis and keep doing what they are doing! They will never get rid of debt crisis!

A whole island pretending to be blind to get benefits, 8,500 pensioners who faked being aged over 100 and lawyers who claim to earn just €12,000: New book reveals how Greeks cheated THEMSELVES into ruin

Greece in teetering on the brink of ruin – and it is hard not to feel sympathy for the pensioners crying in the street and the mothers facing empty supermarket shelves.

Yet those reading a new book may find themselves feeling a little less compassionate towards the Greeks. It reveals an eye-popping catalogue of benefits scams and tax avoidance schemes that have robbed the public purse.

James Angelos’ The Full Catastrophe: Travels among the New Greek Ruins lays bare the corruption which filtered through all levels of society – from the islanders who pretended to be blind, to the families who forgot to register their parents’ death and the doctors who ‘earn’ just €12,000 a year – yet live in Athens’ most exclusive neighbourhood.
