Must have missed a decimal place lol  Embarrassed

It's minimal. I've mined by tethering my cellphone during an outage and with 10gh it was only 20mb a day.

I would estimate network traffic over 24hrs would avg at 32-64Kbit/s per GH so it can still add up to quite a bit of bandwidth usage on a limited plan depending on what plan you have.
I did not check my network traffic. I consider it insignificant as well. However, 64Kbit/s is not insignificant. This is 8KB/s which is 480KB/min which is 28MB/h which is 675MB/day which is 19.8GB/mo. This is like a bit over 4 DVDs per month or 1 DVD per week.

EDIT: I measured my rig:
3.54 (Kbit/s) / (GH/s) download (received)
3.34 (Kbit/s) / (GH/s) upload (transmited)

These numbers are close to what I was seeing when running on btcguild.com. It can add up when you start adding lots of GH/s and your upload is low. I was using 256kbit upload and it was noticeable when the farm was running and when it was off.

I think it has been discussed that it depends on the pool. This dependancy isn't much though, I measured 10GH a while back for 24 hours and got ~6bits/s

Measured @ 8GH

6bits/s ? huh, I think you made some huge miscalculations there. a single getwork is allready 180bits in size afaik.

I do agree on one thing though, rollntime pools would require 3-4x less bandwidth than non-rollntime pools.

What's a GPU?
Traffic is almost 0. It is very insignificant. It will rise with your hashrate, but again, it will still be insignificant and you won't run into any problems on a limited plan.

hello,

since i consider mining on a limited data plan to save money, i would like to know how much traffic mining generates.

i was looking at my windows network monitor and saw almost zero traffic, is that possible?

does the traffic rise with the hashrate?

thanks!
