I will say I had the best father in the world, my daddy was both  disciplinarian and a lovely and caring father, he will punish you you mercilessly when you do something wrong and still love us individually like his only child, my daddy is an old soldier you fought the Nigerian civil war, he tells us stories with pictures and at the end of the story we won't want to go back to our rooms , he gave me the best education, growing up I was a stubborn lad, but with my dad's discipline and corrections I became so humble and gentle, i cried the day he died, but that wàs the best and most perfect man God ever gave as a father, he is my role model and till this day I miss him.

Thanks for sharing your life story. You are indeed blessed to have a father as your role model. Your man earns my respect as well. I have an enormous level of sympathy for you as my Grandpa taught me and loved me so much when I was young and when he died, part of me was gone too. Even to this day, I still miss him.

Growing up, I found it difficult to relate well with my father because of his harsh responses to even the smallest mistakes I made. He was a great enforcer of discipline. My relationship with him was seriously hampered by that. However, things are going great right now, and the father-son bond is back and strong.

I have  a working relationship with my dad. We don’t really talk much. I don’t know if it's always been like this. But when we do, we talk deeply, which happens like once every 3-4 months. Lol

My Dad is a good man, he worked hard to provide for us (his family). His parents were Irish immigrants who left Ireland in the 1950’s. My Dad came from nothing & did really well in business, he got into real estate & created a life that many people will never see.

He has provided a platform for me & my siblings to benefit from financially very well when he leaves this world. I did kinda well in the parenthood lottery. My Dad is a role model yes.

Good for you ! Having a role model father is such a blessing that I would never have. You and your siblings are blessed to do what you want without financial restrains. It is a privilege that not many people in the world have. Please use it wisely and enjoy your life.

Well I never did meet him my father because he left my home when I was a few months old. My mother was too busy to spend time with me and my brothers being with different other men so it was my Grandparents that had to raise me.

So I do not have any relationship with this man that I never did know. Sometimes I think to myself if he left when I was young just because I was born. He is a bad example of father.

Sorry to hear that, pal. Shit happens in our life and we can do nothing about that. I guess we just have to take whatever comes across in life and be good. I forgot in which book I read about this message many years ago: every great man needs either a great father or no father.  You've made possibilities. Don't give up man!

My father is a role model, the family has direction, and the family will not be scattered. My father will not exaggerate himself too much, nor will he deliberately hide his shortcomings. Instead, he will calmly demonstrate to me with actions. There may be shortcomings. But he's trying to be the best he can be, and we've grown together.

Good for you. Having a father as a role model is such a blessing ! Thanks for sharing.

To be honest, my relationship with my father is not very close but not too far either. my father sometimes always advised me well, my father always worked diligently to provide for the family, and I admired his hard work. and I make that as a motivation, so that I always fight and not give up.

Seeing all the struggles of my parents, I really want to make them happy and repay them one day. Even though I know his flaws and ugliness, he is still my father.

take the good and throw away the bad.

family circumstances are different. and I hope OP will always be patient so that your father's behavior, I know it's difficult but at least he is still your father who has cared for you as a child. so keep spirit and stay patient, O.P.

You are absolutely right. Blood and emotional connections between parents and children are inseparable. We have to live with a lot of things and be patient. Thank you very much for your soothing words.

I later realized mine respected me a lot while I was growing up. He wanted me close to him but the relationship never worked because he wasn't my kind of person.
I later understood him really well as I discovered alot of his "personalities" in me. It seems I'm made to be a balance to the extreme personalities

Agree. Somehow we are another version of our fathers, we just don't realize or admit it. Sad but true.

Fatherhood is extremely important to children's growth in terms of personality and mentality. A lot of us don't realize or admit that we are deeply influenced by our fathers. I, personally, don't really get along with my father. I am not gonna say that he is alcoholic but really a heavy drinker. He is ill-tempered and loses his mind after drinking. I "hated" him when I was young for his wrongdoings and even to this day, as I am married with a kid, I still don't know how to get along with him. All the aweful experiences have a significant impact on my growth which I hardly get rid of. How is your relationship with your father ? How has that affected you ? Look forward to your sharing.
