It's another rubbish attempt to make an easy to use gui for PGP. Just use GnuPG.
You mean the commercial PGP?
I thought keybase.io is based on OpenPGP standard which is already used on GnuPG too. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I only use GPG on my ubuntu laptop and phone, and I can decrypt message encrypted with GPG key on keybase.

GPG can be used for both commercial and non-commercial works. I think it is the same with Keybase.io
I know, that's the point of Free Software. What I want to say is, there is a program named PGP (nonfreeproprietary software), and GPG is a free software based on OpenPGP standard (RFC4880). Keybase.io comply with the OpenPGP standard, so messages encrypted from keybase.io works fine with GPG.

It is helpful for other users to encrypt or verify messages. If you don't trust it, then atleast to verify. You can also link social accounts with it which is helpful in some cases.

Basically a keyserver, but with more user-friendly UI (than HKP keyservers) and option to encrypt/decrypt/sign/verify messages.

EDIT: Just make sure not to use SHA1 while generating your PGP key.

It's a nice place to store all of your official links so to speak, signed with PGP and you can add your BTC addy.

you can easily sign messages with your site user so that you can trasmit information knowing if it has been written by the real user

For signing and decrypting, you need to host private keys in Keybase. I highly depreciate it. If they somehow got hacked, your private key will be in danger.

I recommend you to store PGP public key but not private key. So others can encrypt or verify messages.

I personally prefer not to upload my private key either, but the private key is uploaded encrypted.
So it would still be hard for a hacker to get users' private keys even if the site is hacked.

I was assuming that he was asking about the Bitcoin addres part of it. And that part is pretty straight forward. People can safe their public key and you can look it up.

Okay! Smiley

BTC address problem isn't fixed in Keybase. People can enter fake addresses as they ain't asking signed message. Hope they will consider my request.

That is indeed a reasonable request. Considering that someone who can handle PGP signing software is also able to handle BTC address signing.

What exactly don't you understand?

I might ask you same thing unless what you wrote was a mistake. Smiley

Its a register where you can lookup bitcoin addresses of certain people. You can search by name or social media handles.

Nope, it's a site where you can host your PGP key. You can check others' PGP keys, their social media profiles etc... It offers a simple signing/verifying and encryoting/decrypting method. Even though they are using strong method for password hashing, I deprecate hosting PGP private key there.

Pretty straight forward tbh.
