Hopefully a decade or 2, I am certain that it would diminish the quality / profit ratio from bitcoins a whole lot.

Bitcoin might inspire the banking community to develop something new. An answer to bitcoin. I doubt they will just role over and take it. Whats this ripple thing I've heard about? Did the banks come up with that?

Possible that; Only will if they feel it can be manipulated for their greed.  Otherwise they will lobby to have it banned, even though that's most likely out of reach-they may try etc.

I'd say they may start seriously considering it when 1 BTC = 500 USD. They're playing in sums far beyond the reach of the collective BTC at its current value by far...

As soon as bankers realize they could make money, they'll be all over it.

I think it's probably too immature for large banks to take on such a risky investment.  There are still arguments that BTC will be less than ideal in the long-term, and will ultimately fail.  (not my belief, but probably not worth the risk for large banks).

Now they are thinking what to do with me
'bankers' may already be investing, but i think it will be some time before the 'banks' themselves invest (and those ruling the banks will probably fight before they invest, depending on how far along bitcoin is at that time).

The United Nations could never bring about a world currency. They would argue it to death.

I think the central bank system will embrace bitcoin. Basically it's their nature to believe they will control everything eventually (and so far they control entire nations by debt) so it poses no threat. Additionally it will be a useful tool when they want to harvest wealth from local economies.

Hi,

we all know the banking system is the best investor in what money is concerned.
Do you believe they already started doing some investments on bitcoin?
Why don't they do it publicly?

No banker in his right mind would invest in bitcoin, at least not officially.
