My most recent transactions took around 40 minutes for 6 confirmations, 0.0002 BTC fee.
So fast, I need such a long time, from morning until evening.

How much fee? I think you sent without fee.

Propagation and confirmation are two different things. Transaction propagation is near instant, while the first transaction confirmation takes about ten minutes on average.

12 seconds with 0 confirmations with bitcoin-QT.
1 minute with SMARTPHONE on regular (and low) internet mobile data connexion.

and then ...

43 min for 6 confirmations.

Confirmations have nothing to do with the speed of your internet. It has to do with then network as a whole. If you get a confirmation in 12 seconds you just happened to send a transaction right before a block was solved - simple as that.

A Bitcoin transaction takes 1 or 2 seconds.

You're mistaken with confirmation. With credit cards and paypal, this is typically 3-6 months (although occasionally it may take up to even more than a year - I kid you not). With Bitcoin, it's typically 0-10 minutes (although occasionally it may take up to several blocks of 10 minutes each before it gets included in the blockchain).

The fee only affects the time of the first confirmation.

Hi all,

I am a little confused: I sent a transaction today and added 0.0003 BTC as suggested by the BTC Core client.
After 2.5 hours, I still see only 2 out of 6 confirmations... I this normal these days?

It's normal. Solving a block usually takes every 10 minutes however it can take MUCH longer or much shorter. It's basically all about luck. You just happened to send a transaction when it's taking longer than average to solve a block.
