It went quick for me Cheesy

Hehe and to answer your question the most simple way.. No.

To solve a block you must 'mine' for Bitcoins.

A guide on getting started can be found here:

Thanks! only about 15,000 more to go.

So once I have all the blocks I have a chance of solving an equation to get 50BC?

1-2 hours lol?

At the current rate the 15,000 blocks will take more like 15-30 hours.

Takes like an hour or two, just leave it running behind all your applications or turn it on when you go to sleep.

If you haven't used your wallet yet you can use the http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/blockchain/ download to speed it up Smiley

It took a good 12 hours for me.  Sounds like you're getting sporadic connections to other nodes though.  Hopefully they will solidify on their own in the not-too-distant future.

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to get the BitCoin client to work for a few hours now.

It's been downloading all the blocks but seems to be sparatic.

It will not download any for a long time and then add 500 all at once.

I'm at 3200 now.

How long did it take everyone else to get them all downloaded?
