I am hoping that the Samsung asics will help relieve the gpu market somewhat.  Even if it doesn't help the GPU market, I think it will be good for Bitmain to have some serious competition.

With the profitability of mining as we speak and alot of coins crashing down hard, im suprised that not more cards are hitting the used market such as ebay etc. Why are ppl not panic selling equipment like they are coins? Do miners generally got more balls then the avrage trader?  Grin

Many miners have good power deals.

I can mine sixty gpus at low cost.

They may have paid pretty high premiums to get those cards and (due to the sunk cost fallacy) still consider mining a viable option until it's not.  At that point, panic sets in and everyone heads for the exits at the same time.

If you've ever read Atlas Shrugged, there is a fairly hilarious moment when d'Anconia instigates such an event... for fun.

i just bough 12 gtx 1070 with 469$ each. its not that hard to find them, you just have to look everyday. of course you can't just go to a store and find them there waiting for you

Not too bad I guess ... I paid $500 each for twelve 1070ti's ... Not today though.  I bought them back late dec/early jan.

Some guy on reddit said he was buying 7000 Rigs worth of GPUs.

Im not even sure thats feasible. I dont care how rich you are, established trading partners such as newegg come before some random guy with money.

They were limited back in December and they are still limited on most places like newegg or evga etc. And still they sell like hot bread Smiley
For some algorights yes Asic is a threat...also a big business for the sellers.

I dont know but if i was to have an educated guess i would say it could go on for the next couple of months, The manufacturers have already said they are going to limit supply to miners by reseller limiting purchases to 2 cards each.

ASICS look like they are going to take over all of GPU mining in 2018 soon which will be a shocker to everyone

If history repeats and if coins stay where they are ...and if moon is 24 degrees to the left....n few weeks to a month should be better for video cards stocks...but then nvidia may be preparing for the next storm release ...so you never know.
Interesting is its easier to find RX AMD now.

It **FEELS** like it's starting to loosen up a bit - I was able to pick up a few cards as well, including those Titan Xp's.  Interestingly, it seems like eBay prices are actually higher, but this may be due to people picking up the new cards showing up, and immediately listing them on eBay and charging even more thinking they're going to profit.  Pretty crazy... It will be interesting to see if/how cards will start showing up again - I think the big challenge is that if a manufacturer doesn't foresee the demand, then they loose their production slot with the different actual fabrication facilities.  This may mean we won't see it really back to normal until the new cards come out, and then they might overproduce because of all this kind of BS demand, and you'll see a drop in card prices... Here's to hoping!  Wink

Morons keep paying over $1100 for 1080ti cards...
Yet the superior and faster TitanXP collector edition cards are available from nvidia.com for $1130. Go figure.

I was able to get 5 Ti's today for MSRP, granted I got luckier than normal. Anyone paying $1100 is either needing to fill a bulk order or just kinda dumb/impatient. Although you are right I looked at getting some of those, although it ends up being $1200 after tax and its still a blower card at the end of the day. Might still get one at the end of it all though just for shits. It'd be hard to get one and not both though Roll Eyes

The shortage will last until you no longer are interesting in buying them.

Its funny how supply and demand works isn't it...

its effecting everyone, from people building computers and companies making computers.

Its just barbaric they way people are the stores are. they are acting like savages.

Im holding out to get an email from nvida so I could try and buy 2 1080tis

I could pay and get a 1080ti right now but I refuse to pay these barbaric prices

WEEKS sadly hate to say

Then the price will drop down some then shot backup.,.

A new line of GPU is due sometime this year with 7/10 nm chips . i watched some place online i think YouTube I saw it . plus maybe new ASIC miners sporting a new 7/10 nm chip design.

or maybe about the time AMD comes out there with there new APU ....I gonna buy at least one if they sell it in a CPU form . an not just to manufacturers for laptop etc ... .
