I've been sleeping next to case fans for about 15 years. Probably wouldn't even notice one in the same room. But then, the last two winters I slept next to a Dragon and S4, so...

I have to turn on the fans in hotel rooms to sleep now LOL!!! Such a soothing sound.

i wouldnt use it in my bedroom

Why not?!?! I have an R-box AND and S3 in my room.. it is very nice for sleeping.

I use a Dozen R-Boxes for sleeping as well. They all have the same frequency and decibel level so adding more doesn't get much louder than having one. They get in a rhythm up and down together that's like soft music almost.

Well that's just confirmed it completely then. Just wish there were more of them about really if they are that good.

That being said how much is one worth in GBP?

nothing unless your power is free.

new gear does .25 watts per 1 gh

it does 1.1 watts per gh

that  said if your power is free  it earns 2 pound a month

I've got a couple New R-Box running aroud, and a bunch of parts for them from CrazyGuy sending stuff for repairs. I might try and work up a board. I had an Avalon-based proof of concept in that form-factor but I think that [commissioned] project has evaporated. It's worth playing with though; those are nice little boxes.

the bigger  r-100 box at 100gh was a great piece of gear pretty quiet. the only bad thin was it got to market and was out of that hash power wise. it burned about 110 watts to do about 100gh.

If noise is your problem get one.

I really really liked the "new" r-box.  I hope sidehack does something like it with bitfury's chips.   100watts is a great target not a large amount of power used.  I still use my R-box too but as a heater in the winter to heat my feet at the computer LOL.

It is pretty quite.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'll see what I can get it for. It'll only be joining my two S3+'s, two U3's and gekko stick.

They're not incredibly loud, and the fans are replaceable if you want to. 72mm is a weird number so you might find it hard to find a replacement fan, but overall R-Boxes are very quiet and great for all people.

its a light whine that the 2x72mm fans put out, but face them away from you and they disappear into the ambient noise, if you get the rubber shipping filler with them, they are good for removing the vibration on the table.

I used to own 4 of them, and had them as a talking point in the lounge-room..

My R-Box has been a reliable and very quiet miner. First Bitcoin miner I bought and still running.

It is as at least quiet as two of my Gridseed orbs. Fans are small at 70 MM if I am not mistaken, but not loud at all.

I do not have a means of measuring the sound output, but I do not think you would consider it loud compared to an S3 miner.

I hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I know the R-box is outdated now and from what ive read not exactly a great miner, but im in the habit of buying cheap outdated small miners at the moment.

So is it louder then an S3? As I've already got two S3's under my desk in my room and can quite happily sleep with them running.

Thanks.
