My portfolio changes at times, but I always have smartcoins and usually a little more than $5 in bitcoins, even if it is just sitting in orders waiting to make buys.

I also have a little bit of many other coins as well

I AM A SCAMMER
I dont have any Altcoin and I re-invest my Bitcoins to grow more. So, at any certain time, my bitcoin holding is very low as well...

Why do you hold altcoin? I think most of ppl will say they will wait to sell at high price to earn Bitcoin or fiat! At least bitcoin is accepted by most individual or merchants, who are involving cryptocurrency. But we should keep in mind that most of altcoin are crappy. Their price could crash any time!

I have roughly 2/3 of my savings in Bitcoin. I have slightly over 1 BTC so my altcoin holdings are currently worth about 0.5 BTC.

This thread is dumb. Most everyone here owns some BTC.

Well out of the 15 who voted who own altcoins, 4 people so far chose "I don't own any Bitcoin but I own [insert altcoin here]" so it's not an insignificant figure. Frankly, I'm surprised this number is so high. To put all your crypto savings into altcoins or even worse, a single altcoin, seems like a very risky thing to do. Bitcoin is the one that started it all, and Bitcoin is the one that has the largest recognition and awareness, merchant support, and third party companies developing services for it. And let's face it. The altcoin economy is really just a series of hype cycles. Sometimes the hype pays off and the coin shoots up 10x but then again, so do some penny stocks - but to pour all your savings into penny stocks is not a very smart decision IMHO.

Sure, if you don't even own bitcoin, then why did you need altercoin. People invest alter coin, mainly because of want to earn bitcoin  Grin Grin Grin

Bitcoins are kind of stable now so one uses to exchange an x% of earned altcoins to bitcoins or even to fiat, just like a savings account.

I'm currently working on some software and this thread will help inform me whether its safe to assume enough altcoin users will have Bitcoin for aspects of the software to not be incredibly inconvenient or whether I need to go back to the drawing board.

Please try to keep your answers honest  Cheesy
Most alts aren't dierctly convertable to fiat, so either people are lying, or not trading.
Relying on the long term stability of alts is.... 'Brave'
