Topic: How many Courses did you take to become profitable? (Read 615 times)

I haven't done any trading courses yet. I don't know if I will eternally do it but I have no appetite to do it.
I don't guess there is anything to read up from trading courses. It is a matter of detailed experience and destiny. Although the experience does not ensue in the beginning, it comes down to trading. Now talking about how to get started? I have watched various YouTube videos and understood a lot from one of my family members trading offline. I started then and have not had a bad experience so far hope it will not be in front but the rest cannot be said. And even if something bad happens, you have to accept it with a smile. You have to trade in good and bad. There is no other way. The mind must be strong and have the ability to overcome all situations.

I agree that information matters most in crypto, however disregarding courses and education is silly, they can't hurt you. Just because you study and learn what indicators are, how to read charts, how to look at the prices, check on walls and resistances and supports, basically do all kinds of technical analysis you can, doesn't mean that you will rely on them and only them without using anything else.

If you have a method you use right now to trade, you can use the same method while also studying to learn TA, they are not exclusive to each other, they are quite contrary helping each other. You can use your TA knowledge and also your information researching abilities together to make sure you are seeing something right and back it up with the other as well and support it.

I solely depend on personal effort, I had lots of YouTube videos that I watched after reading some trading pdf files, I didn't pay anyone to teach me, I believe personal development will really go a long way in helping out because trading requires more of how much you can control your emotions either by not being greedy and knowing when to cut loss, then getting some sites also for quick news F.A also goes a long way, all this are from my own personal research

I haven't actually taken any paid courses, but doing my fair share of research before investing/trading has always helped me a lot.
Moreover I no longer do the quick trade for quick and less profit but the opposite (HODL)

To be honest, i never paid for any trading courses nor even apply for even the free ones. Well, I'm not really a pro in trading yet as I'm still trying to master my games but i can really say I'm far better than how i started years ago. I pearn tge little i know through reading trading contents as well youtube videos

Of course, we can make our own way to become successful but that was so easy if we have some who guide and help us especially in doing technical analysis where it needs time to develop.

Well, it is not difficult for you if you already understand the market behavior. But we should have to think that there is no instant way to know learn and having more time and trading experience will give you a way to develop.

I did once signed up for a free trading course to learn about stocks trading, I did not sign up any courses to learn about crypto-currencies trading yet, but I have done a lot of research about crypto-currencies trading online and read a lot of comments from other traders to learn from their trading experiences. Luckily, I have made quite a decent profit by trading crypto-currencies on the trading market since I started my trading journey.

I just learn how to trade by watching my friend on how he trades. I ask him, what is this for, what is that for, how to sell, how to buy, where to sell, what to buy, when to buy, etc. When I already know the basic information and concept, I tried to trade by myself, the rest is I learned it from my own experiences. Yes there losses due to result of wrong mindset that I already knew how the market go.

I learnt how to trade all by myself without a mentor because in Crypto currency been updated about information is more important than technical analysis that can be render useless by unsuspecting whales. The next I am going to learn is technical analysis because of the people I will start teaching soon. In Crypto don't hope on shit coin and new projects.

I just started trading and im still in the process but what have been told is that consistency matters its not all about how many courses you take it about you being consistent with one trading strategy

Most reply you come across on this thread would hardly be true but since they (the repliers) won't want to look dumb they'll be force to list both course they haven't take and books they haven't read but probably saw them as recommended trading course to take or books to read.

I won't call myself a professional trader although I'm not a novice either. I still find it sort worth difficult to read charts but that doesn't mean I can't easily identify a resistance or support level when I see one. All I'm trying to say is I have been trading occasionally for a year and the half now without partaking in any online course per say but have numerously watch alot of YouTube videos and self thought myself.

Copy trading is replacing courses nowadays. There are many places that now provides copy trading and that allowed people to see what the good traders are doing and how to make a profit from them. If you see someone making profit and see how they make their decisions, you will eventually learn how they are doing it. Courses usually teach you something but you are not really doing it all that much yourself, you just learn it.

On copy trading you actually see them in action, you see results, you basically check if they are actually good or not, you are not sure about the course being good or not, there is no method to check it but with copy trading you see the success. Hence copy trading is the new courses, and that is how the new traders learn what the old ones learn.

Trading isn't the thing that you can learn only by completing courses, you always have to be a learner and have to do trading by your own to understand the processes, it is a practical task.
I always am studying new advances in trading and also have read books related to technical analysis and trading for more than three years and I still consider myself as a beginner even now as there are many a times that I have made stupid mistakes while trading that made me loose money.

Applying those knowledge that you acquired from those books or training materials that you gathered is far important in terms of success. It  a must that you need to apply every details and acquired more in hands experienced, it will grow eventually as you continue working but like wise acquiring each courses and seriously take everything into action will enhance your chance of success.

Can a lots of courses make a profitable trader? Never, it may be a help but a practical knowledge and skilled are obviously required. Just think, you have purchased a book named "How to ride by cycle". You have read the book whole night several times. Can you ride the by cycle in the morning if you don't have the practical knowledge? So, besides taking trading courses, you have to gather knowledge from the successful traders how they are making profit from trade, why they face in lose and finally you have to start your trading in small volume first. Gradually you will be a successful trader. Every successful trader has his/her own personal strategy, so you should also have your personal strategy fro being a profitable trader.

But I'm sure professional traders undergo to different courses in trading to improve their strategies and analysation about the market situation. If your good enough you can rely on different videos and articles that you can study about trading. Some sites are also offering different free courses. Joining telegram groups make also support you in your way to be come a good trader. You can also trust their analyzation but also do it of your own. Try to check it if its good indication to follow. Its also the matter of hardwork and patience.

I haven't undergone any courses related to trading. I seldomly do this and I still feel like I am a beginner in the field. I also don't consider it as one of my sources of income because I am inexperienced and too scared to invest.
But I think practice and experience is the vital key to make trading profitable.
I think it is accessible to everyone, mandatory if one wants to undergo courses. Those who have knowledge maybe will have that edge from others.

Don't forget to practice what you learn so you can get more experience which can improve your skills. That is what a trader does who want to become a pro trader. They don't stop practice the lesson so they can get more and more experience. Before you trade, always analyze the market, and don't just follow what other people said because they don't always right. You can make your own strategy or analysis, and don't forget to make another strategy just in case if the market is changing.

I think risking your money in trading courses for you to learn trading and become a profitable trader is really worth it to you, even you take it for 2 years and I assume it end up well. I also think only few people will risk their money just to learn trading just like you because not everyone has enough money to risk their money just to learn trading because you can learn trading for free by just watching Youtube tutorial videos and reading tips in different articles.

That's a good job for you. Risking with money for years is not an easy thing to do and it is good that you are determined on what you are doing. On the 2 years of experience, your knowledge of trading keeps stacking up that ables you to be a profitable trader.

In my first year of trading, I don't really try courses because that time courses are not free and the alternative thing I do is watching youtube videos and reading guides about trading, Fortunately, I got some luck and earned some profit on my first year.

As for now, I am trying to attend or study some free courses around the internet for the sake of knowledge.

After taken some courses, reading from online books about trading or watching YouTube videos, you will still have to find what works for you, create your own strategy, I believe each traders have their own strategy in trading, it is about finding what works for you and not do what you watch on videos or read.

One funny scenario about trading is that, it is not by the number of lectures, or courses you have taken, neither is it by the number of courses you paid for,
but;

by how much you can learn,
how much you have learnt,
and how much you have put into practice
and finally, how much corrections you have taken from your errors.

Figure that out, and reevaluate your profits charts.

Good to see that you have turned up to become a successful trader. Though it took you 2 years to reach to that level at the end it's the profits you make that cover your up your time and effort for the same. There are many people out there who despite of taking courses don't make any profitable trades.
I would say it does not completely depend on those courses but somewhere we have to put in our effort as well to build the right strategy as per the current market. Sometimes luck plays a huge role in it as well. I am not saying courses are a waste of time. They do help us a lot in technical terms and give us a different perspective but it all depends on a mixture of factors that takes to make a profitable trade.

Honestly, I didn't take any course to learn about crypto trading, I just did it on my own and my experience and mistakes taught me about how to trade in the profitable manner.ANd also there are lot of free articles and videos available on the internet so no need to spend money to learn it.

I do not really support both approaches here personally. People who say that you do not need courses to be a good trader are forgetting that you COULD become a good trader thanks to courses, you do not need it, but it might be helpful, so taking some courses couldn't really hurt you, it is not a big positive but it is certainly not a negative neither.

So, I feel like dropping the value of courses is not really a good idea. But, I also disagree with ones who think courses are some sort of magical solution to becoming a good trader. It does help a bit, but you need a lot more than just taking some courses to become a good trader, you need to be much much better than just courses, you need to practice and you need to apply what you learn and basically gain experience to be even decent.

IMO, it is all investing in yourself.
Practicing is paramount. Taking courses is not necessary; it just helps shorten one's trading journey.

Its not really easy to become a trader because there are many steps to take in order to achieve your goal and be a pro trader.

Nowadays just look online for resources to know how to trade, and its up to us to choose what is best that suits us to understand better the nature of trading. In my case I didnt take any courses to learn how to trade, im just lucky that I have someone who guide and teach me along the way.

I started trading with indices and forex in 2010. There weren´t that much courses available so it was a lot of self-studies and try and error. There was actually a few traders around, some asking for insane amount of money. As it turned out, the most prominent one of that time in the German speaking area was more a shovel sales man than a gold digger himself, meaning he was great at selling his courses but a lousy trader himself.
Eventually it took me 1,5 years, collecting all info, e.g. incl reading about 30-40 books about trading, I could and put all parts together for a sustainable trading setup. Fortunately, today everything is easier and Udemy and co offer a plethora of online courses were you can learn trading and the finance markets as a whole very easily. However, even today my suggestion is to start with a demo account and trade with fake money. You will need to get accustomed to your setup and you need to figure out what works best for you. You don´t need to invest your hard earned real money to play around in the testing phase. Patiences and constant learning is key and since we live in a time and age of instand gratification one has to work hard to keep focus. Eventually it´s worth it.

That is what we need to do to have skills in trading. We don't have to take any courses because many courses need us to pay before we can get the lessons. If we can get the lesson from many sources, and we can learn well from the lesson, I think we don't have to pay anything except to pay the internet connection cost. We can practice and learn more lesson to improve our skills from those sources so we can make a profit in trading.

Taking courses are not necessary. It just helps you leverage on the experiences of other traders and shorten your trading journey to profitability. Personal effort too is required to make this work.

Is it really necessary, I think for majority of traders, a formal study is not necessary anymore, self education can be done effectively if we will spend time to  utilize all the useful resources we can find online, this is the beauty of having an internet connection as you can explore online and learn a lot of things.

Ask me, who told me about bitcoin? my answer is myself,..  I just browse online until I see it and got interested to it.

I absolutely did not take any courses. because I know that knowledge is only a small part of the victory. I learned a lot about indicators, learned a lot about how to manage capital but still failed to trade. Our problem is that psychology, good psychology, the trade will be very good and choose good open order points. so I spend a lot of time practicing and adjusting my emotions. very much, even to this day, I am still learning how to do good trading. every time the pattern of price movements, trends, and popularity always changes. we need to learn that quickly. even for bitcoin and ethereum, it needs to be adjusted every time.

Of course I went through a variety of courses to become a successful trader, and after 4 years passed I felt I had just understand
about trading. Even though I understand trading, I still experience losses a number of times. Most courses I take are free, and only
once I take a paid course.

Trader should really have this kind of mindset and also it doesnt matter if you do have mentor, attend seminars, paid up courses as long you do get on how thing works but it doesnt
necessarily for you to spend up some bucks for you to learn up since everything can be found online if you do decide to be self-taught one.It will just depend on how you do feed up
yourself into new informations that you do acquire day by day until you do make yourself improve out into that certain area and be feasible or profitable.Dont rush up and this is one
of the reason why people commit mistake because they do like for everything to be fast paced.

In the time when I started trading there were no courses. In fact, there were very few available information at all. So, I learned along with getting experiences, making.mistakes and wrong decisions and similar.
It's good that this has changed and now you can get education and work on yourself all the time. I support life long education and constant development of capabilities but hands on experience is the best way to become good, successful trader.

Only one. Because of i was a newbie, i didn't know anything about crypto treading. That's why i did one course so that i could better understand about crypto market & become a successful treader. That course was really helpful and changed my life

I am not entirely sure if you really want to just advertise or if anyone is interested in knowing. But know the fact that studying is only one part of the deal and in general has very little to do with how you fare with the bitcoin world because it is nothing like forex. If you study for forex but trade bitcoin there will be many times when you will be wrong.

The thing about bitcoin is the simple fact that its decentralized and can't be controlled, so anyone could buy a billion of it right now and sell it right after and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Or they could burn a billion dollars worth of bitcoin and you can't stop them. At the end of the day bitcoin is unpredictable but also uncontrollable which means unlike forex anything could happen at any moment. You can't study for something like that.

You won't get to use everything you get in a course. You filter what you need. Whatever fits into your trading strategy.

I don't take any courses, whether it's local or online courses, because I see that the course is paid, and I don't have more money to pay for the courses. I decide to search on the internet, which can give me so many good trading lessons. I learn from some of the lessons on how to trade with the right. And now, I still learning by watching some videos on Youtube because I feel that I need to know more about trading to improve my skills in trading so I can have a chance to make more money.

You should be careful if you want to go with the paid course because not all course can give you what you want, and you should search for yourself so you can get what you need.

The courses are good because they can teach a beginner how the markets work and different terminology. Basically nobody knows what "shorting" means or "margin" or "options". There are many courses out there that are easy to learn and will teach you all this stuff. They also teach different indicators like moving averages or support/resistance, however these courses only take you 5% of the way.

You need to complete the other 95%. Basically its a tough game out there. You are a small fish in a ocean full of shark. You are against whales who are smarter than you, got more money, more experience, better computers, more insider knowledge and everything. They will take your money like they took 99% of all the traders before you. You either learn to adapt to their games or you quit after a few months.

It depends on the person if he can afford to join courses that will help him improve and enhance his skills in trading, maybe he is a full-time trader that's why he need to become better with trading. In full-time trading, it really requires you to have skills and proper technical analysis for you to minimize and prevent huge losses.

For me, if you can't afford to enroll in a certain course about trading, then don't. Instead, there are online videos, or tutorials that will help you improve your trading quality, it's free and you can practice it so that you'll know if it will become effective in an actual trading.

According to Loyal 'Jack' Lewman, "Never stop learning; for when we stop learning, we stop growing" that's why it is also not bad to learn with yourself, sometimes, it is essential for you to find out if you are an effective learner who wants to become better in trading and if it will become guaranteed to learn by yourself.

I don't take any formal  courses on my my trading journey. What i have learned today i got it all from learning youtube trading videos and studying all the vital information found on the internet. And when i think i can make it already, i started to go on trading on a minimal amount and then lose some and win some. Until now i still make mistakes in trading but i'm proud to say that i'm already earning a good amount from trading.

I'm amazed that you take these courses as part of building your trading journey.

Self-learning is enough but it will take time and in your case, you really push it. I want to suggest to create a separate thread about these courses but since it was a form of marketing, as it was a subscription, maybe much better if not. Those courses might help a newbie that also wants to take subscriptions and willing to pay online courses as it's really hard for others to do self-study as they really need a mentor.

Your efforts will be soon rewarded. You gained much in your whole trading education and what left is to apply it continuously on the market.

I am still in the learning process and still taking courses. Consistency with what you are doing is very important no matter how many courses you take if you dont practice it will be difficult for you to make progress. Practicing what youve learnt is very important

If you really want to make money not only in the crypto money markets but in all markets in general, you should always take care of your development. You can't really make money by watching a certain number of courses or training videos, you need to constantly refresh your information and be up to date. Of course, in order to start making money, you must have received many training beforehand, but to continue this event, as I wrote in the previous sentence, you must constantly improve yourself and adapt to the market with current information.

Good to hear that you are doing fine, In my case, I don't take any courses online I just watch youtube videos and read blogs. I also watch projects developments and announcement on social media. To be honest I only knew the basics I am not a full-time trader either. I prefer to be called investor I guess   I buy coins on exchanges and then hodl it on wallets for a period of time. I am not doing buy and sell or short or long now and then I am just waiting if my capital gets doubled or more. Of course I suffer loss also.

None if you ask me. I never took any courses to learn about trading. Actually, I'm an active reader all the time and so, I visit websites, read articles on trading be it traditional or modern trading styles, perfected myself in trading by focusing and winning the most important feature that's needed to become a successful trader, i.e.; patience. Another thing is, you don't need any courses to learn about trading but your experience is what matters here, if you have been sitting way longer and just watching the charts, then you're doing nothing. You need to do it practically (Thank God we've got some practice accounts too for that), see where you profit, where you lose, note down your mistakes and don't repeat them.

Well, i believe you don't need to know all technical and fundamental techniques. Sticking to one technique is enough.

I started off as a crypto trader but couldn't find success in it so i decided to hop into the Forex market which is where i developed a lot of my trading skills. So most of the courses i took were forex courses. i'm currently looking to delve back into crypto trading and currently taking one crypto course at the moment.

• IML (started off here, this is where i learnt the basics. Then i left after some months due to the payment system)

I always have the plan to step up in trading and change my habit of playing gambling since gambling and trading are almost the same aspects. Before I am watching videos that correlated to trading but, --perhaps I need more time to absorb all technical and fundamental techniques in trading. Can you share with us here what kind of courses you have been done before proceeding in trading?

In my case, i didn't join any treading related courses as because I didn't have money enough to join. But i tried a lot to learn from website article & youtube. Bitcointalk also helped me a lot. I'm not an expart but  a average crypto trader

As in my case, paid online courses are great but everything we like to know is available free on the internet so what I did is self-study. Actually, no need for me to study hard day and night as while we progress, it will automatically feed our minds. Experience is the key.

I really see courses as investing in yourself. Some see it as a waste of money.

I've taken a few courses on Coursera, LinkedIn and platforms like NewsCrypto. However, I was profitable long before I actually took these courses.

That said, it's not too difficult to be profitable in an industry where nearly every major coin has had positive price trajectory. And since I got in relatively early I benefitted from some newbie gains in 2017.

Nowadays I turn around 1-2% per week in trading profits, but I only do it for an hour or so per week.

I didn't take any courses, I used to trade stocks so I had a bit of a knowledge about trading in general when it comes to how it is done but that was probably the easiest step. Everything else was very different since stocks are tied to companies and if you buy stocks of companies that will profit in the long run (probably) and not bankrupt, those companies will keep on going strong for a very long time and you will profit. That is why Warren Buffet invested in Gillette and coca cola and stuff like that.

But bitcoin is very different, it basically has nothing it ties to, could be anything, could go up 50% in a moment, could drop 50% very quickly too, there is really nothing that is shocking in bitcoin world. All I did was keep on trying to profit and eventually I started to make some profits, I still lose a bit too.

Okay, There are paid trading courses and free trading courses. You wouldn't really get much off free trading courses because most of them drop those free contents just for you to buy the course in the first place.

Moreover, i see buying courses as a mean of investing in yourself. I also learnt through youtube and every other platforms i could get free stuffs from; afterall, there is no one that doesn't love something free!

Also, copy trading services IMO is not healthy for a newbie trader. I believe a newbie trader should be focused on the knowledge and chart-time rather than depending on a service for trades.


I also didn't have the resources for taking paid courses. I paid for few and found a plug for free courses.

The thing i got to understand about learning on youtube IMO is just that there is no chronological order of what is being taught. You learn A today and Z tomorrow.

Paid courses comes with mentorship and mentorship really will help reduce the length of your journey to profitability. You just need to start off from the right source.

Though most courses out there turns out to be full of crap! because someone might just wake up oneday  and make a course on Moving Averages.

But there are platforms where you can get paid courses for free. That's how i got to learn from so many courses.

What matters to me is YOU and the effort you put into the whole thing!


What i believe is that one needs experience in the market to become successful in trading. Honestly, You can't accumulate enough trading experiences under one year (i mean a year of consistent practice and chart-time).

The market condition changes and you get to see different patterns every now and then. Getting here in almost 2 years (currently a year and 10 months) is very impressive to me and i am happy about my journey.

One keeps learning everyday in the market and Yes! what matters is the work you put in, Not the amount of courses you took.

It's just that everyone has different learning curve

I mainly trade Forex

I once worked at a brokerage company and there I got knowledge about trading, but I saw that it was not easy to master cryptocurrency trading, it was easier to master forex trading or commodity stocks.

It is not really about courses online or physically but the LOT. If the LOT you mean is actually meaning lot size, then that is important. The size of the lot determine how your balance can go dry. So what is needed is to have basic trading knowledge and apply a reasonable and lower lots not to be greedy and you continue being in the market.

Cant remember that much on how many courses,tutorials etc. that ive able to study on yet i do start trading from scratch
or totally zero knowledge.All of reference that i do read up are on the internet and i havent tried out to follow someone
or some sort of mentor and just trying out to read others analysis and do apply it on my own and if i do saw some good ideas
and bad ones then thats the time i do make decisions if it would be used or not.For now ive been trading for 3 years and i cant

It's good to hear you're a profitable trader. If you learn to trade in two years time, you will definitely be able to become a good trader. It is not important to take any course to be a good trader. If you don't work hard, the course will not help you. So you have to work hard to build your skills and gain as much knowledge as possible about trading. Since you have built yourself a profitable trader, you have worked hard to prepare yourself. Congratulations.

I am not a great trader, you can think of me as an average trader. I gained knowledge about trading from different blogs and by following different professional traders. There are a lot of traders like me who have been able to build their skills without any kind of paid course. And I have learned from here that it is not possible for me to day trading, so I should trade according to my own talent. I prefer to trade in the mid-term. Which seems less risky to me.

In my case, I don't have any formal study regarding trading, i just learn and educate myself with some pretty free stuff in the internet.
In youtube alone, there's a lot of tutorial on how to trade, and the rest are just acquired based on my experience.

However, until now I can say that I am still not good in trading, so instead I just focus on long term trading, and minimal trade activity, and so far, I feel I have some positive result.

Good to hear that you are a profitable traders, congrats! But fortunately I am not familiar with any trading course. Whatever I learnt it totally myself by losing funds. I am not gainer on the trading and quite away lately from trading as well. At the beginning I heard from some peoples they are trading and earning good as well, but they didn't teach me anything. So I just get help from YouTube how to trade only. I wasn't aware about strategy nor I had followed someone ever. But I have realized how should trading to get profits, but not gonna start now. Just waiting for recover my old funds by HODLING some shitcoins. After I will think about trading, its means I am not gonna to enter any fresh funds for trading. And I don't have any intention to admit on any trading course either it's free or paid.

In my case, I didn't take a single course at all. But to be fair, my strategy is quite different anyway as I don't do technical analysis, and I definitely don't day-trade. I just personally found a mid-term trading strategy that mostly works(I also make a lot of mistakes, of course), and I just stick with it. With a little iterations here and there.

I would say that I'm just a average crypto trader, so I never take any courses to get the skills needed. I just browse and read around the community and try to apply it. Of course, it is a hit and miss, but I do believed that you really need to get yourself involved and start trading with just little amount ($100) to learn by experience. So I just continue with my journey and try to learn something new searching around youtube and try to get if its going to fit, specially trading strategies.

Achieving your goal in 2 years is not an impressive thing to see. SAnd think many others have tried but nothing had ended great and successful. You have had that skill and ability that even how many courses you'll take, training's, ain't that warrant anything to become successful but it all just recognization.

There is no shortcut in trading and that you'll need to struggle (and that normal) difficulties for us to learn more. Thinking about the easiest way of trading is just a lie, definitely, you can't find it.

Since you already at the top, one more thing is to still keep learning and find the most effective way of trading. This is the only thing it needs to become profitable, not those courses or whatever it is.

From a standpoint of a student who wants to do some trading then I can back up this quote, not everyone has the resources to afford a course, if anyone thinks that courses in trading can help then no qualms with that because it is our personal choice, in my opinion, most of the courses offered online do not help that much but I can be wrong because I never had an online course before, so take that with a grain of salt. Personally, I do learn by watching in Youtube, searching some terms in Google, practicing trading via paper trading websites like the site mentioned in the quote, and most importantly is surrounding yourself with people that have the same goal or have reached the same goal, I have friends that are trading and I am learning a lot from them as much as possible.

IMO, reading articles/blogs, and watching free youtube trading tutorials are the best place to go if you really want to learn to trade. After that, actual trading makes you become pro but of course spend only the amount that you can afford. This forum also helping me to sharpen my mind and skills in trading, no need to be rushed, and hurry in trading.

I have heard from one of my friend that started in trading using the Etoro exchange platform. He said that this is good for a newbie that wants to learn how to trade in crypto because they allow copy trading services for newbies in trading.
