>12 days here uninterrupted. Had to shut down the Pi when I added two more hubs full of BE's for hardware error checking for someone else.

Wow!  I can't thank you enough for putting out such an excellent build for the RaspberryPi!  I set this up last night.  It took me twice (once to be able to install and 'break things/explore' the second for production deployment).

Right now I've got a few ASICs running on a solid D-Link USB hub.

Still running the 0.2.2 release but I've started looking at the Github updates and hope to contribute in some way.

Thanks!

I cant remember, does MinePeon include the BCM2708 watchdog trick? Thought this little snippet was interesting.
That or you could simply enable the hardware watchdog on the Rpi... : http://pi.gadgetoid.com/post/001-who-watches-the-watcher

The watchdog is on the BCM2708 not in the kernel space.
Yep, the watchdog in enabled on MinePeon.

Neil
Awesome. Thanks.

Initially had a few problems setting it up... (ntp and wifi.)

But now that it's set up I haven't had to reboot it at all.

Even when I'm doing tinkering with rrdtool to produce my own graphs with the RPi's temp on it.

My next graph I'm doing while I'm on holiday will be an rX and tX one...

I said I'd post back, so here goes: Mine's been up for over 14 days and is showing no problems. It's not MinePeon though (cgminer 3.1.1 on Raspberrian, Pluggable 7-port powered hub).

Huh. I had turned donation off, but I now see it somehow got set to 5 minutes. Interesting. I'm approaching 4 days of uptime, though.

I accrued over a month of uptime with my 5 block erupters on a DUB-H7, but I eventually got some instability. I think we decided it was due to the donation code.

Mine has now been up for nearly 4 days. It appears that the trick was to turn off donation mining (sorry!).

One thought I had, however, is that my Pi is one of the originals - a model A I think it's called. I'm wondering whether that makes any difference?

I've been running rPi/MinePeon for about two weeks. It's always up unless I reboot to add more devices. It has been a joy. Set and forget. No issues to report. I'm running Erupters with DUB-H7 hubs on one Pi and Lancelot FPGAs on another.

Or so I thought. It looks like it's not actually going down, though. The apache server goes down, so I can't see what's going on, but it keeps right on mining.

I put a better power supply on my Raspberry Pi and then plugged it and the USB hub into a UPS, and everything's working great now. Turns out the Rosewill hub works just fine for at least 4 of the BEs. Not bad for less than $10.  Smiley

I am using a Rosewill 7 port as well ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182176 ), with 4 Block Eruptors. Haven't been able to get it to work stably for more than 24 hours yet. We seem to be having a lot of quick (< 1 sec) power outages right now, and I think that might have something to do with it. Maybe I'll try plugging it into a UPS. I also need to connect a keyboard so that I can see what's going on when it quits working.

just bought a rosewill 7 port hub off newegg for 17

will see how it holds up with my single sc.  do I even need it for the single since it's not powered by usb? I would love to ditch it if possible.

Nope, you can just plug it directly into the Pi.

Neil

now that's customer support Wink

I will have to send you a tip once I begin using the distro (without issue, of course)

I'm still waiting for some psu issues to be worked out and the usb hub

currently its hosted on a pc

Rasberry Pi miners using minepeon , How long have you been able to mine WITHOUT a restart ?.
I'm using adafruit occularis rather than minepeon, but uptime since setting up as a miner control:
 06:43:05 up 22 days, 12:36,  1 users,  load average: 6.62, 6.38, 6.34

So is your uptime dependent on the USB hub you're using?
That's pretty much my question too. So far it looks like the choice of USB hub and heat control are the two largest factors with regard to uptime.

I have a "Pluggable" 7-port hub (3.0A, 5.0V output) but am waiting on Erupters (2). I'll definitely post back with my results when all is up and running.

Hubs are INCREDIBLY important, 9 times out of 10 when I am helping someone out with an issue it is the hub at fault (the other time it is the SD card).

Be prepared to go through 2 or 3 hubs before you get one that works right and if at all possible don't run your pi off the hub that is running your miner.

Neil
Although my hubs have 7 ports I only connect 5 erupters to stay within manufacturer specs.
My current setup is with 2 hubs, one powering 5 erupters and the other one powering one erupter one fan and the Rpi.

Are ฿itcoins Radioactive?
My Raspberry Pi (256 MBytes) with MinePeon 0.2.1 is very stable. But 2 days ago, when it launched again cgminer after the donation period, it could not access the 2 USB Block Erupters. They stayed with the green leds lighted and I had to restart the RPI to get them mining again. Both USB Gizmos have heatsinks "glued" to the ASIC IC and forced air from 2 fans. They don't go higher than 38ºC, but the Hardware Errors stay @ 0.9%.
Excellent case for the Pi dude.
Thanks, Polyatomic. It's a special case, made by http://www.themagpi.com.

FYI:-

The 11th ztex was mining on my desktop when i took the pic.
The pi is mounted on a single stand-off -- not ideal....

Thats a mad rig , more hashing power  than a jalapeno. I have the same lowprofile heatsinks and fans , just not as many boards.

I mine using RasPi with 11 ztex quad boards (not using Minepeon, just a stripped down version of Raspbian), runs fine for weeks. And even then my uptime is only affected when i power it down to re-arrange cables.

Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ uptime
 17:02:56 up 12 days,  2:31,  1 user,  load average: 0.47, 0.63, 0.58
pi@raspberrypi ~ $

Sounds like an excellent rig turtle83. What hub do you use ? .

Belkin F4U022v.

Had to add the following to /boot/cmdline.txt to get it to detect the ztexes.
Code:
dwc_otg.speed=1

One of the hubs powers the pi.

I have at my work, another RPI with the last version of MinePeon that included cgminer 2.11.4, that still mined with CPU's, mining at a montruous 150KH/s for more than 30 days.

I just setup my RPI with Minepeon 0.2.1 and have been running for more than 2 days without any issue.
My specs are RPI model B with a D-Link USB hub (DUB-H7) and 2 block erupters with a usb fan to keep them cool to the touch.

I assumed MinePeon was a set-it-and-forget-it distro, but it seems a lot of people can't run them reliably

I know right?  Most mystifying is that not-a-single-person asked me for help making it more reliable because of reboots (or anything else)!

This will be quite interesting to see.

I sort of assumed that because the original MinePeon (the first of the development Peon's) has an uptime of 6 months+ that everyone was in the same boat (does not need restarting, apart from updates and updates COME from that Peon, not go to).

Can I ask people to add why they reboot?
