OP has a point, but then there is a hand ful of exceptions to that description. I ccertainly also support longterm coins not one-week-vapourshit. People should do that more; support legit projects instead of pyramid  schemes but as it stands people don't understand what they trade and keep buying the ponzis because they have faster return.

Then also the real progress is made in alts, nowhere else. This is where new tech pops up first and also often dies right at the spot.
Great things can come from alts aswell as huge scams. Better make your due diligence and have some reservations on all this.
It'd probably already help the markets a lot if people could turn away from these scammy presales.
Because you buy scams they'll supply you with scams. Because YOU don't demand a good product you aren't getting one.
That's the state of affairs. When people stopped buying crap in 2015 suddenly better coins poped up. #truestory

You get what you demand and what you deserve. Nothing to complain about. If there is sufficient demand for garbage then there is no incentive to not produce garbage. As long as people at large buy garbage you get nothing else. End of story.

This cattle-style-behaviour of the mob rushing in and out with irrational fads makes me sick too, lol.
Markets still have to grow up.

people like to speculate more than anything else, it's the vibe of the gamble, not so different than dice game or shit like that

but the return is some times more secure, than pure gambling, you can target some coin that are basically a guarantee in giving you a high return

I read an article about DAO on vice.com!
So there are more than 1000 different coins, but I think only a short percentage are active Wink

Can some one tell me how many electronic coins are there in total? and how people can just pop out of their mother and create a currency?
Is this some kind of joke or mass scam? who is and why is supporting these coins in the first place?
Seems to me people are falling for this kind of sh** more easily than cloud mining and double services (scams). wtf just assuming people
Are complete idiots to come and run their wallets and download shi** block chains with lots of malwares and viruses so they can
Profit  huge on short-term rising price of said coins in some exchangers and markets. because I don't see any one profiting from these
Coins other than all the teams behind them and site admins of trading markets. WAKE UP people, stop wasting your time and money on

some times these coins act as a ponzi... ask for IPO ... prize pump .... and then DUMP ALL ... and users lost all!

a world with only pizza margherita would be boring, why not a capriciosa or one with mushrooms? or even to use mozzarella di bufala instead of the traditional one

you cannot limit something with such a potential (blockchain) to only one application, there's plenty of things we cannot even imagine yet to be developed on top of existing solutions

you are right on the last sentence, most probably 1 or 2 of the alts will survive

Well as for me, Etherum and XRP are the two coins worth taking a look at...

With so many still coming up we are going to lose count, your better option is to look for the first 100 coins on coingecko and coinmarketcap and forget about the rest,if you are going to get on Crypto currency the fist thing that you need to get to use to is to be aware of there will be always new coin coming up and nobody can stop a coder to do that..

http://coinmarketcap.com/ they show most relevant ones mostly. Worth taking a look.
Most new coin, even if they are good, take some time to get there tho.

OP is having the same reaction I had when I first signed up on an exchange--Cryptsy in 2015.  It was like walking into a room full of pigs dressed in tutus, wearing lipstick and trying to look sexy.  You open the door and say what the fuck.  And to this day it still blows my mind.

Well first there was the Bitcoin... Then other copies came around trying to steal Bitcoins crown... I remember when Litecoin went from 3$ to ~40$ - people then talked that it will be the new king of the crypto currency world etc. but that didn't happen... That was the time when Bitcoin price jumped to ~1200$ and many people started to learn about it - after a couple of months the Dogecoin was born and I think that was the start of the shitcoin chapter... Many people started to make coins just from scratch - many sites were created, offering to make your coin, just for a little payment in BTC and since all this stuff was new, many people started to mine/buy these coins early, hoping that they will get rich soon after... Well that didn't end well because many of those coins were made by the developers, to get them some quick buck - as soon as the new coin was added in an exchange, the pump and dump (end of the coin) scheme was immediately "adopted"... And that's how all started and that is why the altcoin section is a massacre and scams are a very large part of it. So yes there are still people who want to scam you with their shitcoin and there are people who get buy them - it's your choice what to invest in. As you can see some of the coins have some potential, but with all of them that exist today I don't think there is a need for more alts being created, because they don't offer anything new...

Very thoughtful description.
