i had it one time (they don't have it in Sarasota so i ordered it thru the mail).

I need caffeine to get rid of migraines occasionally.  I don't drink sodas, tea, or coffee, but in summertime I get headaches and caffeine is the instant cure.

Are you sure it's not just dehydration? Have you just tried drinking water instead?

Yeah it's not dehydration.  I can load up on 2 liters of water and it doesn't help.  I vasodialate more when it's hot and that leads to instant migraine when its sunny.  If I hit a little bit of coke right as I feel it I can prevent it.

Headaches can also be a symptom of caffeine addiction - when you don't get your daily dose. But your use to cure migraine seems reasonable in your special case. As far as I recall, caffeine is also a component in some general medications against headaches.

ya.ya.yo!

That would be an issue if I drank caffeine regularly, but for 8 months a year I don't touch it and I don't get headaches.  Once the headaches start in the summer from the heat and bright light then I need the caffeine to rescue me.

I used to be addicted. Had 10+ mugs a day every day.

When I finally took a break after about one day I got withdrawal symptoms that scared the hell out of me. I had stinging pains in my chest (only on the side of my heart) and headaches. Lasted for a few hours. Like most things caffeine is *not* harmless.

After that I stayed away from coffee/caffeine for three years. I take it again now though in lesser quantities... So I guess I'm a junkie after all.

I avoid caffeine like the plague.  I used to drink a lot of pop and would get vicious headaches.  Cut out the caffeine and the headaches pretty much disappeared.  Not to mention, I sleep so much better without the caffeine intake.

There was a guy where I used to work that would drink a pot of coffee in a couple hours, had the shakes bad.

Perhaps he was not dedicated enough?

Possibly, LOL! He had a few other health issues that I'm sure contributed to his shakes. The pot of coffee was just over the top though, never seen someone consume so much coffee at a desk job.

Its like method, u use it when your depressed.  Personally I like method better but its illegal

Method?

i thought i typed in meth, but apparently iPhone knows better

LOL! I was kinda wondering if that was what you meant. Even the iPhone knows to stay away from meth. Never liked meth, hated the fact I could not go to sleep no matter what I did. At least with coke I could drink myself to sleep. My buddy got heavy into meth, wasn't pretty.

At work the people who order coffee and stuff got de-caff one day accidentally.
so they poured it into the big tin of coffee that is just normal coffee (and not de-caff) to fool people, which is kinda stupid.

anyways so everyone is pouring themselves coffee and there like 'oh i need this stuff to wake me up'
so off they go to there desk... sipping away on their de-caffe.  I asked 30 mins later if it worked and everyones like 'yeah yeah i'm really alert now!!!'

I like coffee, but just the taste.. seems to have not much of an affect on me.. even really strong coffee.. I just enjoy the taste.

I put the coffe things behind a glass where is written "break only in emergency situations". I only use when I really need to be awake for long, or if I sleeped few hours and need to stay awake and productive. I know its addictive and toxic, and if I use it too much, I might become addicted, and the effects will be weaker over time.

warning:

Cafeine is toxic, most animals and plants will die if exposed to caffeine. Humans have crazy resistance agaist it, but can die too if exposed to a high level of caffeine. Don't give coffe for your pet, and be extra carefull if you are going to take pure caffeine.

Example of caffeine death:

it still gives me a kick. i'm quite addicted to the taste of coffee by now, so it's hard to say that it's just the addiction to caffeine. but when you're addicted to something, it's hard to tell what you "like" and what you're "addicted to" and where the line is...

Coffee is cheap and I like the taste.  I can get 24 oz of ground premium coffee for maybe $15.

Theobromine / Roasted Cocoa is healthier and doesn't have any of the negative overload or withdrawal symptoms but it's costs twice as much.   24 oz of Crio Bru will set me back $28.   It's also not as tasty as coffee, like you have to add milk or sugar to make it taste like hot chocolate or else you get stuck with a bitter watery drink.

Once upon a time, I overdosed on caffeine. From there, I learnt my lessons about dealing with caffeine.

After that, I lowered down my intake of caffeine to about 180-400 mg per day.

Never heard of a caffeine overdose. I guess I never quite took it to that level, LOL..... now my tolerance must be so high. So what happened when you overdosed? Symptoms?

I did vomit after like day 2 which made everything a lot better as there was still a LOT of caffeine in my vomit, hallucinations (or really weird dreams, not sure if I was awake or asleep), fast heartbeat, and massive confusion. I also believe I was massively dehydrated as well.

In reality, I took the equivalent of more than 37 redbulls of caffeine in less than an hour period. I've learnt my lesson. (~3 grams)

if you're hooked on caffeine, then there are ill effects. i know people who chug it down, and when they don't get their fix, they get headaches.

Meh, I've been drinking lots of coffee everyday for many years. I sometimes go days here and there without drinking any, never have problems. I also smoke a pack or 1.5 packs a week of cigarettes, but often abstain from smoking on the weekends. No ill effects there, either. I think it varies from person to person -- addiction, tolerance, etc.

But in fact I have no clue about what's the taste of pure caffeine. I'm even not sure if I'd try given the opportunity... so I can't say if I like the substance itself.
