Everyone knows about social media's influence for political agendas now. Donald Trump's presidency revealed just how corrupt even governments that represent "freedom" can be.

This doesn't mean that it still can't be powerful. We're aware that commercials are trying to sell us things on TV, but some do such a good job of appealing to our emotions that we legitimately think that buying whatever they're selling will make our lives better on a subconscious level.

I think there should be an AI platform regulated by the UN that detects corrupt political tactics. Not doing something could be disastrous.

Yeah i think most consumers of Facebook news lack critical thinking and the will / ability to research on many topics and will follow the stream and believe what ever others do, aka bots and fake news spreaders.  At least i' ve noticed that there is very little conversation around ideologies and mostly chattering around different opinions that wont change for anything. This is a real problem and i dont know what will change it, since mainstream media like news channels and news papers are saying the same shit   Angry .

Add the fact that the human brain is always searching for a state of equilibrium of believes, it copes bad with large changes, like the fact that most media uses fake news or that paying taxes to a war machine is a bad idea and it seems an awakening might take a while.

Another problem would be that those who knows what is going on does very little to change it, lets hope block chain and freedom of information survives or we might end up in a matrix of lies for sure.

Peace

Do you think people would still trust what they read in Facebook or reddit or even Twitter after all the issues that Facebook had with Cambridge Analytica? From what I've read on comments by people on different countries in Facebook, it seems a lot of them are calling out for Zuckerberg's intervention because of the rampant fake news and political propaganda spreading about local elections on countries all over the world. It seems to be the medium of choice for spreading propaganda.
