Not sure what supply could be for such coin, nor if it could be trusted if one was revealed.

I don't know if I'd say that if the listing price is in the thousands of dollars.  More likely this product is being targeted at sleep deprived crypto users with too much BTC who mistake the 1.0 description as it being loaded with an actual Bitcoin.  They probably think they're getting too good of a deal to pass up or maybe English isn't their first language and they snatch it immediately after the misunderstanding.  The seller probably discovered he can make way more money posing this as an actual crypto coin and tricking people than selling them for $20 a piece, so that's the route he's gone.  Just my guess, but probably not too far off.

It's easy enough to fool people who're new into crypto. eBay often serves as a great way to fool buyers into thinking they're getting the real deal. As far as I'm aware, this coin was only sold through eBay so you get the picture. Last time I've checked, the coin was selling for $20k. It's insane considering this is a Casascius knockoff. I've got mine for $20, so I have nothing to worry about. I think I'll be putting it up for auction just to see how much I'll get for it. Tongue

Thanks for the info. Only 8 sales means the coin is pretty rare.

Thanks for posing the question, I have one too but had no information on it.

Do you know the size and weight of the coin?
And maybe a picture of the back side?

I also remember seeing this on Ebay for quite some time.  I even asked Bobby Lee if BTCC did actually make these and he confirmed they did not.  False advertising is all.  They are definitely a Casascius knock off.  Even if these coins are more rare ( I also have one myself ), they are still not worth very much.  I think you'd be lucky to get $30-40 bucks for this thing.  Run an auction though and find out! Smiley

Well $40 is double for what I've paid for this coin. It's better something than nothing. I'll probably run an auction to try my luck. Wink

Yes, was only 1 seller selling this coin from what I have seen.
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it......  still a rare coin, but def. not worth $10k

According to WorthPoint, the coin 1st sold in Dec 2013..  looks like it was a hot-holiday item that year.
If anyone has a paid account for that site, you can see how much they sold for.

After digging around, I can tell you that it does look like a challenge coin, but not from the company BTCC itself. I found some old eBay listings where they call it a Bitcoin Challenge Coin (BTCC) and I know I've seen this before, but my spreadsheets are failing me. Maybe @minerjones can shed a light on this coin.

You are correct.
I remember seeing on ebay around 2016 onwards...  it was "reasonably" priced until the run up in 2017 when he changed the price to $10k, then $20k for said coin.
He was definitely going for a Casascius knock-off look alike.

I bought that coin for $20 on eBay. Must have been the same seller as the one selling it for $10k and above. Does it mean the coin is now worth a lot more than that? Just asking because I can't seem to find this coin anywhere else. Even the eBay listing doesn't exist. So maybe I have a rare piece?  Huh

Just found this coin among my other crypto collectibles. I was told this was a 2014 BTCC challenge coin, but I'm not sure if that is correct. If it is, how much would the coin sell for?

Thanks in advance. Smiley
