My data is worth a lot and that is why I don't use social media websites anymore. Combined with that I actively am trying to avoid search engines and emails that track you. If you are like me use DuckDuckGo for an encrypted search engine. If you want an encrypted email service use one called Protonmail.

Projects that are coming out and aims to protect users data are quite good ones. It's not clear to the newbies on why they should invest on this but if it really is putting an effort to help people protect our data from these companies who are using it then that's fine.

How much is your user data worth??
I don't know how much my data's worth or should I say there's no exact estimation or value for it in terms of payment.

Now that google and twitter have joined the banning of crypto ad, there have been some projects popping up that talk about privacy of our user data for advertisers. This as a good read about the value of our user data as consumers.

What do you guys think?

Pruvacy data and my identity are very valuable, a few months ago since i dont know nothing about crypto. And one of the only way to get some is from KYC likr program, Verify identity and uploading documents, and since i heard news about how people of the underground use our data for sale in the Deep Web.

i dont want to fall into those thing again. But if its for potential project i will think twice for it.

Personal data is very valuable because it is unique but the value depends on how you use the data, google and other companies will probably use this technology because they would not lose their dominance.

User data can't be actually calculated as the correct value. Because value can be gauged as different by different thinkers and analyst. So, your user data may be millionth.

I think this project is pretty revolutionary. Lots to do with user data and they have quite a bit of info on us. Just joined their bounty and airdrop. Very generous imo.

Great article thats how they are data mining. Wow the personal data of a US resident is worth somewhere in the region of $2000 — $3000 per year.

Personal data is worth billion. Because if you can buy completed data like facebook you can save billion for marketing. You can identified anything and the majority what people want by region or by country. Targeted market can save billion dollar. Thats why repux as market data will be rocked especially when ico can not put their ads again in facebook and twitter.

I think anything that hinders these giant corporations' ability to harvest, retain and sell data can only be a good thing.  Fuck Facebook.

This is an interesting article, that I’d read the other day. There’s no doubt that the centralised behemoths of the Internet 2.0 are making hundreds of dollars a year and in some cases thousands, from selling our personal information and metadata analysed from their centralised data storage’s to advertisers and others - often with little or no truly informed consent from us. And good to see this is bevoming increasingly illegal in different jurisdictions, as well as immoral!

There is no doubt that slowly over the next 10-15 years the advanced blockchain platforms and protocols will be developed, that will enable DApps to run that will become the new googles and Amazon’s and ebays and facebooks and YouTube’s and whatsapps of the decentralised Internet 3.0. These new DApps will allow your personal information and metadata and friends to be secure and private, and only shared with companies and advertisers if you give permission to share the information and get rewarded with micropayments. And you will get rewarded for content creation, and users will get rewarded for their attention using sites and for providing use of things like their hardware etc. And the average person might only make a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a year in aggregate, but there will be big winners who are innovative and smart!

A brave new world but a better and fairer one.

I think we all should've deleted facebook a long time ago. All of these platforms are storing data about us that they're profiting from. I looked into the project mentioned in the article and it's pretty cool. the idea of permission-based advertising is fascinating. Their app looks very clean as well. Thanks for sharing

That is how the data mining on advertisement and enterprises online works, Google uses the most keyword searches that you're using, for example, most of your searches are all about cryptocurrency, google ads will start to pop out some crypto related advertisements like ICO's, exchanges, wallets and coins on some of the websites that you will visit in the future, it also applies to the applications installed on your smartphones, I recently discovered that some of my apps are secretly conducting data mining by sharing the list of my apps installed on my phone by the creator this will make the promotion for the advertisers easier to conduct as they know what is the wants, hobbies, foods, and apps of the user its very alarming that they are invading our privacy.

That is really interesting article,  and advertisement in yhe end of article is so native.
Personally I believe that we should gain income from our data shared and blockchain provide opportunity for this issue.
Around a half year ago there was ICO of Datum,  so they suggest sell our data, but don't disclose our names, hope they will suceed
