I should have added, I own all three cards and I get roughly the following:

7950 - 650 kHash

7970 - 750 kHash

R9 280x - 750 kHash

Yes, I overclock them all and use custom settings in the cgminer.conf file.

whats the stock kh/s on them?  Roll Eyes

I am pretty similar to what Philll90 listed, out of the box was probably 680-700 and 750 with tweaking. His settings seem about right, you will need to experiment a bit as I found each card has its own sweet spot. I have some that need 1060 core 1500 memory, and others that can run on 1040 core 1375 memory, and they all run within a few kHash of each other right around the 750 mark.

R9 280x stock kh/s = 700 kh/s

This can I say about my Sapphire Dual-X (Stock Core-Clock = 1020 Mhz)

I run it @1050Mhz = 732 kh/s (stable @ 69-73 Celsius)
And @1070Mhz = 751 kh/s (stable, but temps become bit higher 76-80 Celsius)

Hope that helps

Thanks It does helps a lot!

Well seeing as both cards are no longer in production, your best hope is for the newer R9 280x, which is the successor to the 7970. Similar hash rates and power draw, plus about $100 cheaper than when the 7970 was in its prime.

Can't decide what cards to use on my first mining rig, anyone can report what real numbers you get out of your 7950 or 7970 cards and also please list if its standart setting or overclocked.
