how much kilowatt does my set up needs to run this mining rig?
it depends on the brand/GPU type, AMD / NVIDIA has a difference on power consumption.

yes maybe Max 1.6KW will be needed

Unless you want to run inefficient mining rigs, 1.6 kw is a WRONG maximum amount.

If you really want to step out of the amateur "hobby" mining niche you need ffficient mining rigs which need to run with a minimum of 13 GPUs per rig. The better the GPU on those rigs the higher the power consumption. For maximum efficiency you would need high powered GPUs that give the best hashrate to power consumption ratios (1080ti will do). To run those, a 1.6kw power consumption surely won't cut it.

In US how much watts are you guys using if mining at home?
I am around 2000 watts and worried if it is too much

It may be too much for one 120V circuit. You can have more than one circuit though. And use 240V.

I see that I have 4 X 20 Amps and 2 X 15 Amps. The load is distributed in one 20 Amps and one 15 Amps plug. When you mean a circuit did you mean one 20 Amps or everything together?

Circuit == all outlets, lights, etc that connect to one circuit breaker in the panel. The electric panel should have a diagram, or you can do some testing to figure out which breakers feed into which outlets. Your 20 amps and 15 amps are probably on different circuits otherwise you would have popped a breaker but still you might want to double-check.

how much kilowatt does my set up needs to run this mining rig?

i'm sure this will need a lot so i have to compute how much will it consume and is it worth the time. i'm just going to altcoins though. the set up would be just 2 computer with about 4 GPU on each. i wouldn't consider the aircondition for now just the 2 computer and 4 GPU each.

With 13 amd 570 the whole rigs draws 1500w. (220v)

As an example:

4 GPU mining rig , rx 470 4GB, H81 Pro Btc, Cheap celeron , SSD and 4 gb stick, Evga supernova 750 G3 psu (gold) @ wall it pulls 308-312 watts.

With a 4 gpu build a 750 or 850 watts power supply should hit the sweet spot @ around 50%

As for what wattage your 2 rigs will pull it depends:

- What gpus
- Overclocking
- Undervolting
- Psu efficency
- 110v/230v@wall
- CPU
- Alghorithm that you mine

Lets say you live in europe:  6 a = 1380w @ 80% = 1104w ,  10a = 2300w @ 80%  = 1840w

If you are in the US on standard 110v, 1600 Watts is about the max you can run on one circuit with a 15 amp breaker, which is standard for most homes.  So, no more than an 8 card rig will run nicely.

In the UK it's theoretically 3.2kw per double socket, and most standard domestic ring circuits are 32A. Obviously loading them to their limits is a bad idea, and that's assuming all your wiring is new and up to spec, which in older houses and flats is a big assumption...

The OP has already stated they want 4 GPUs per rig and it is certainly wrong to recommend a 13-GPU rig for a person new to mining. Between 4-8 is fine. There is no significant efficiency gain beyond that. Motherboard and CPU power usage is negligible. Software complications, heat dissipation, cable management, power supply availability, fire hazards... just too many things that can go wrong for a newbie.

You'd need up to 2 kW but it's impossible to tell without knowing which GPUs you want to use. 8x 1060s would probably fit into 1.2 kW.

Creating so big rig (with so many cards) has some drawback. When your MB hangs or just something goes wrong 13GPUs are not working for you. Second thing - such "sophisticated" motherboards are very expensive. You need to calculate everything...

Our experience shows 6-8 card rigs are the optimal ones.

And choosing nvidia is also questionable. I can agree - nvidia are much stable and little more powerful however much more expensive! Typical RIG (6 cards) should consume from 600W - 1000W - depends on used GPUs Cheesy

Considering this can easily be googled, this is a surprisingly ignorant question from a legendary account. Hehe peace  Grin

In any case, it would really depend on the type of mining rig you would like to build / use. For efficient and profitable GPU mining rigs, the average would be around 2-3 kw. For ASICs the range could be greater depending on the algo your ASIC mines and power consumption could be as low as 0.5 kw to 1.5 kw.

Not only can it be easily googled, it's impossible to answer without knowing all the details. Even once you've dug through the CPU and spec of the psu and the make and model of cards, different algos will vary your consumption considerably (eg: dual ETH+XVG vs XMR). Saying that, ballpark 2kw for safety.

You write nonsense! What is the difference as the GPU is connected to the rig? You can start with any number. I started with 1 GPU. Now I have 37 GPU and there is no rig that allows the connection of 13 GPU. I do not advocate the use of rigs with a large number of the GPU. The best for me rig with 6 GPU. Energy consumption of my rigs 08-1 kW

First, you have to decide which GPU to use and measuring the actual power draw at the wall, and you need to ensure the PSU actual output at 100% load will provide enough power for the mining rig.

Make sure the PSU has enough SATA and PCI-E power connectors available to power all connected GPUs in the mining rig and you can add some additional adapters for this. But you need to ensure any of the lines from PSU to mining rig, not overload and everything connected in proper.

For equipment safety and mining rig stability, you should discover the power distribution knowledge and use a high quality power supply.

You might need a power plant just for one graphic card. If you go with two, nuclear fusion might come in handy.
With two computers and 4 cards eachs, a dyson sphere taking all the power of the sun should be enough...

About 2 kilowatts. What GPU/CPU are in the computers and what are the power supplies rated for?
