Adsense wouldn't let you use it on faucets. You'll be fine and earning, but they will ban you before you get a payout.

You will need to buy .com domain with interesting name.
Make your faucet that will make people stay on your faucet longer than 10 to 15 seconds.
Hire someone who can make game-based faucet, that will for sure make people stay longer because they are staying to play the game.

Use a-ads, bitmedia, google adsense or any other advertising platform.
Keep in mind that do not put more than 4 ads on your faucet, because it is very annoying and using too much of user resources!

Tor publishes a list of IP's of all their outgoing nodes so it is pretty trivial to block them.

Before thinking about starting a faucet consider the fact that you will get your first payment from adsense after about 2 months (depends on when you launch it but the minimum will be 1 month and a few days) so you should have enough reserves to pay users until then.

Then if your faucet suddenly becomes popular, you will need to pay out the increased number of claims but will only get money from the extra traffic after 1-2 months.

For example, with freebitco.in I paid out $50,000+ worth of bitcoins before I received a single cent from adsense.

Also, be prepared to get bank accounts closed if your faucet becomes popular and you have to buy a bunch of bitcoins on a regular basis, so you need to have multiple backup options so that it does not affect your users.

From the outside it may seem like a simple thing to do, but there are many complications with running a faucet. This is why you see so many new ones popping up everyday and shutting down soon after.

Oh and be prepared to lose tens of thousands of dollars to fraud if your faucet becomes popular. You need to be able to implement fraud checking systems and tweak them regularly to minimize theft, which is not something that you can do with a pre-built faucet script. You either need to be able to program yourself or have someone you trust to be able to do it for you.

correct !!!  faucets are used as a advertising tool.most good faucets use only 1 adsense and the rest is paid advertising from private corps or single biz

i think nowadays only thing that can make a faucet popular is how much they pay out.

like if it is going to pay >1000 satoshi per claim per hour it most definitely is going yo attract more people in comparison to a faucet that pays 100

then you need to constantly promote your faucet through different ways like forums, advertising websites, etc

also the design although i think is not that important, it needs to be simple an avoid creating a crowded page.

Eh, I could alter mine to do the same thing, but most people aren't going to rattle through 523 faucets.

Mine's a lot more "featured" than most of these others (check it out) but faucets are coming and going so often it requires constant upkeep. And probably 25-50% of the faucets don't ever pay out.

As a heads-up, mine's smaller than those (I removed over 50 in my last pruning of inactive/dead faucets) but it prioritizes the highest paying first so at least if you're hitting, say 5, you always get the most profitable.

It makes a list of faucets you can visit (aren't on cooldown), then organizes based on other criteria. So every time a faucet is added to the list, it's automatically placed in its most effective spot in the rotation. i.e., if someone launches a faucet that pays more than the others, it will automatically jump to the front of the line, .

We earn from both signature campaign and faucets, and we live on Bitcoins...

Pay does play a huge role, but it also causes loss of funds quicker. This is why, again, it needs to be run as a business. NOBODY here is making much profit off of faucets. But there are people who make $10k+ a month from theirs by using it to fuel traffic for their real business.

not only depending on socialize/promote our faucets, it's also depending on how much satoshi bonus to claimed on our faucet.
High bonus of satoshi most likely attract many visitor compare than less paying bonus. I even see someone here on bitcointalk promote his faucet like crazy, and only few people attracted by his faucet. Because his faucet only give us small payment.
Yeah for first and second month, faucet owner will loss bitcoin to spend it on faucet, but i say this is investment. Because if faucet get attention, many visitors will become active visitor on faucet and build good traffic.

+1. I'll say the same thing I tell everyone that wants to run a faucet. It's a business. If you're just replicating the same thing everyone else has done, you won't earn anything. You have to come up with a unique angle and target market. Just like any other business.

Ah, i see. Well it depend how you socialize your faucets  because nowdays already so many faucets there.
And maybe the first day until two or three weeks you loss your bitcoin for gain the traffic of your website.

Buy .com domain and create interesting faucet with nice design and fast load website, optimize SEO for that faucet and fund it with bitcoin.
You can use 3rd party micro payment like faucetbox to control the claimed payment or you can do it personally without 3rd party payment, which is better for long time period *see bitcoinzebra for example*
choose claim bonus wisely, not too high because it will dry up your balance quickly, and not too small because it won't compete with another faucet *and user won't interest with your faucet*
Be careful with bot. It can drying up your balance quickly.
Your faucet is ready, and begin promote it everywhere *don't make spam post about advertising your faucet, which is hurt your reputation*
Promote on micro earning section, try advertise on PTC too, and promote your faucet to some faucet rotator, choose best rotator out there.
Wait for your faucet traffic increasing, maybe for a month if your faucet popular enough, you ready to make money.
Put advertisement on your faucet, try PPC like adbitco or bit-ads *do research about this, i don't know which one is better now*
If your faucet quite popular, you can try to join google adsense program, if they are accepted you, you can make good amount of USD with it

Very small amount, maybe around 0.5$/day. It's really waste your time. Better you find and do some task that can pay you, and join signature campain , avatar and pm campaign. It's much better than faucets.
And you  can also join PTC (Pay To Click) that pay you in bitcoin or $.

Faucets do make money. Not enough to make you rich.  

You will make a loss on the first month or before you have enough traffic going to your site. You have to be good at marketing if you want to profit from it. You need to consider other more profitable investments before you go down the faucet route.

One thing no one has mentioned is you need good security.  If your faucet has a weakness it will not be good.

It's sad but websites that are known to have BTC stored for them are targets.   So if it's not secure one "bad guy" could take what ever btc in your hot wallet running for faucet.

I would be paranoid personally funding it maybe a day or so at a time.

Before, I really did not think to make money from a faucet is so difficult, it requires multiple skills needed , as well as to have the experience to

It's good to get a grasp of how stuff works with micro-transactions (a few cent, just a bit over transaction fees) before you throw in 'full' dollar-amounts... When I was using faucets I made a few cent a day - but after all I could have used the time more effective otherwise then solving captcha-codes and stuff.

Oh, 3BTC+ everyweek . That's a large figure for me althought i can afford it. But I don't know much about faucet. I 'm afraid I can not afford to manage

a faucet as what sites you say. They have the necessary skills and experience while I do not know anything. So, I will give up my intention

Yes,  Almost all of you here have said that faucet just a waste of time even lose money (as you say). And I believe that you're right.

It's not much a secret; If you've followed those websites you can see what they did.
Start with an unadvertised website; Make people coming with ref spam. Probably you'll give away 0.1-0.2 BTC on the first day, make those payments. And give the ref spammers proof to atract more to come.
Then start to add ads on website slowly.
Rule: never use popup, pop under ads etc.
Rule 2: ads shouldn't bother people and it should be easily claimed.

Of course you need a good name & high budget to atract more people and make the faucet a brand.

You'll lose money on the first week (~1-3 BTC) but you can easily earn more even x2 or x3 what you gave...

You would have to fund it yourself and most likely lose money at first.  Getting advertising, and profit is not going to be easy.

Those who have done it and are making big profits likely will not be sharing their secrets, or what works best.

If you can come up with something new. Or have some gimmick no one else hash you might be able to something.

But faucet place is just what I would describe as a crowded marketplace.  I think when you open one you might even lose money till you can fine tune it.

Yes, as @roslinpl and @notlist3d siad above, It's difficult to earn from a faucet nowaday. Most likely to make cents or dust or micropayment per day.

After running a faucet for more than a year, I can say there is still room for innovation. But, plain old faucet wont earn much for you.

Most likely you will make cents per day.   Some might call it dust or micro payments.

You will not get rich.   It's not really worth using them.  For most a waste of time.

It really depends on how good faucet you will make and how well you will advertise it.

As you know if you want to earn some income from ads on your page you need a lot of unique viewers.

My advice, it's really hard to earn any income from running a faucet so I suggest to don't waste your time on it if you are thinking about income.
