4GB is enough for Vega but you have to compensate with Virtual Memory for swapping.
You have to calculate like this :
For a system with 4GB ram and 3 Vega
8192 + 8192 + 8192 - 4096 = 20480. Then you need at least 20480MB of virtual Memory (better to set at 22 or 24MB)

Because Ram is more expensive than to set Virtual Memory in Windows, we usually proceed with 4GB RAM. You will have no difference in Hashrate between both methods.

Running windows 10 with 6 x 1070 TI's.  I only have 4 Gb and task manager show the machine using 3.9 GB.  I am going to add 4 Gb more when I expand to 8 GPU's.

Cheers!

8GB would be the sweet spot. Some algos and miners require lots of ram/pagefile/swapfile to keep it stable. Much more if you plan on dual booting Windows and Linux.
I'd say 8GB for RAM and 250GB SSD for a 8 card rig. 6 card rig isn't very efficient to build unless its composed of 1080 Ti or Vegas. Stability is key.

This guy shows how more RAM gets you more hashes:

I use 4gb and for 8 vega with GPU P7 1375 905 and Memory P3 1100 900 I can get 2025 h/s. I really don't think that 8gb would make any difference.

Hello guys in 2018,

Cannot get my head around how much RAM is required for Windows 10 machine. Some say 4GB is enough, but those are systems with RX4xx cards. Some say if you are going for more than 4 x 1080ti or Vega 56, you need 16GB.

Can somebody comment how much and why it needs?

Thank you!
