It will reach 0$ because people will start selling as soon as it gets valuable!

once it gets valuable there would be no reason to sell, as at that time you can just buy goods with it at every corner of the street.

It depends on how much we work towards bitcoin adoption by creating businesses using bitcoin as payment, just inundate the world with bitcoin businesses with the option to use fiat as well as bitcoin.

For sure. BTC value has a value right now inflated from speculation, but if usage continues to grow, and its usage as an actual legitimate currency and payment method increases, then I see 1 bitcoin being worth 10k. But if adoption fails to grow in a big way, I think we'll see it go to zero in a decade or so.

Bitcoin was at $13 to start the year, now we're at $1,100.

Conservatively:

2014- $50,000
2015- $150,000
2016- $400,000

My 0.02 mBTC

I hate math.   Can 2014 be the year of 10k and 2015 be the year of 100k?   I even erred on the side of low versus high!

10 years is impossible to predict, but next-to-everyone in this forum believe that Bitcoin will reach 1,000$ within two years (I think that's safe to say).

Try two weeks.

Miners have to sell BTC to pay for the electricity costs.

That's your limiting factor right there.  Higher the price, more electricity the whole network uses. Bitcoin price can not go very high.

It's amazing how many people confuse cause and effect, especially with regard to Bitcoin and electricity. Miners respond to the price of bitcoin, not the other way around. If electricity costs go up, inefficient miners stop mining and mining difficulty drops.

That is true, but ASIC technology will only get better. Moore's law is still in effect. Mining will just become larger scale and more efficient.

what the hell are you guys basing these estimates on?
Just wild guesses?
Yes. Since it is inevitable that at one point we will have to cross 100k to reach 1M (we can't just quantum-tunnel through this price) we have to guess when exactly this will happen (we cannot calculate the time exactly) and 5 to 10 years seems to be a reasonable guess.

Or it never reaches 1M... And at some point someone dumps large quantity and rest of the investors withdraw and it ends up at 1-10$ level or less...

As valid prediction as any...

It's hard to say really. Think of how accurate your price outlook would have been a year in the past, and try to speculate that uncertainty for a decade and you get the idea. As much as I love Bitcoin, I wouldn't pin my retirement plans on it!

Too late.  I plan on retiring next year in my mid-40s.

I would say $10k would be the 2-4 year outlook. 5-10 year may be closer to 100k

It should reach the top by 2018 regardless of how high it is going.

I believe a lot of wealthy investors will gamble their money for the chance to be world richest person or at least killer rich. We don't need sheeples to know how to use a client for that. If government officials see bitcoins as a fret, the most corrupt and dishonest ones would buy bitcoins secretly as a hedge.

According to various charts with the projected logaramithic curve for new technologies we are on track to be $1000 USD per coin early 2014 (maybe sooner) then at least $5000 by the end of 2014 and then it should reach $10,000 USD by 2015 and then it will vary depending on what the true peak of the curve is.  Some people speculate that it will get to $100,000 per coin but conservative estimates are about $30,000 USD.  With the fast growth we are seeing though it might be showing us that the new height is more than we expected so perhaps the $100,000 per coin is not unreasonable?

All that said, the next two years will tell us where we are going.  HOLDING for the next two years is probably the best decision we can make so we can see where it really is going.

The answer is what will be worth a satoshi : possibly a dollar

No more BTC but international trade in satoshi for online business

I recently read a discussion that if a Satoshi would be worth $1 the sum of all Bitcoins would be 5 times the sum of all world currencies altogether - so I doubt that the price will rise that high.

Satoshi will never be that worth

That's what I said. Smiley

Comparing BTC with any fiat is dead wrong. BTC already worth some six digits in Zimbabwean dollar. It would be better to use an ounce of gold or an acre of land.

BTC / gold or
BTC / 1 acre of land in WA or NY

Why use an acre of land as a measure of value? Isn't it's value unstable as well?

Be grateful when you double your money. Most people would and should be. Appreciate the true value of Bitcoin by using it when you can and replace it with more Bitcoin. That's the way we grow the value, by letting merchants know that accepting Bitcoin will improve their business economically.

I believe that is a safe prediction, double your money. This is what I'm thinking on doing, keeping 1 or 2 BTC (as a investment) and them selling/buying like a regular market.

I don't know, I find difficult to believe that BTC will reach US$ 10.000 when more and more business are accepting them...

That's the issue is getting over the 'I find it difficult to believe' part.  I'm still doing it and slapping myself in the face each day when I wake up and see the price.  Like $500 now...wtf.  I remember it at $5.  All I hope is that it won't ever go back to that.

Speculations?
Whats the max it can be? 10k euro per bitcoin?
I'm 21 years old and I invested +-10k euro from all the money I earned with an online shop.
I Would be very glad If I can buy a house with in over 5 years. Or 50% of it. It makes live just so more easy.
