I use a paper wallet and the Android blockchain app for just viewing. Since I'm in it for the savings, all he app has is my public ky with the provate safely laminated in a dresser drawer. Most apps are generally safe if all they have contained in them if your public key which is usually I guess just for look n load.

I use the blockchain.info to keep a small wallet on my phone, no issues.

Yet...

And don't forget the Android RNG bug that could compromise a private key.

On iOS it's a pretty safe bet that an app won't include any viruses so to speak. On Android it's hard to say. Any new malware will probably not be picked up the scanner until it's too late.

What an app does with your coins is another issue. I use the blockchain.info to keep a small wallet on my phone, no issues.

How reliable are virus scanners in detecting malware for mobile apps such as android, ios, etc?

I know just because an app is in googleplay doesn't mean it is 100% safe.  could someone knowledgeable chime in?
