How do we actually start participating in the crypto world? I already see a good prototype working model but we don't use it almost anywhere.
How many times you actually purchased something with cryptocurrency? Once, twice, never or few times a month?

We need to keep the economy going.
We obviously can't use it while shopping IRL but there must be some use cases.

You can get paid in crypto tho, but it's hard to find such opportunities, at most freelance. Anyone know more sites like ethlance.com?

There are many sites there where you can earn digital cryptocurrency. One of those is this forum, by just posting a constructive post you can earn or you may also showcase your skills and offer it to a company that needs that. In my experience, joining in this forum changed my life not just financially but also on how I look in life.
These sites can be one of the source but still, its not active with all of your energies and money. You will have to take part in the trading of the bitcoin and there is no other thing if you want to actively participate in the market of bitcoin. If you want to remain effective for passive source to earn the bitcoins, then you can do a lot of the research first and then your guidance can follow you to meet this objective.

It's hard to find motives to spend cryptocurrencies right now, unless you are buying big houses with it, or other very expensive goods. Almost every crypto currencies are getting their value increased, so if you spend them now, you will lose value over time. So unless you are buying a house, that you will probably keep for almost an entire life, and you know there will be always demand for it, either for selling or renting, it will be very hard to get a good reason to spend on anything else. Plus, there is the problem associated with high fees (at least with bitcoin).

Getting paid in crypto is a very good idea actually, and there are some companies already doing it. I read that a Japanese company is allowing it's workers to receive a portion of their salary in bitcoins. I know I would accept this if I was given the opportunity to do so.

You will already participate once you invested into Bitcoin or when you started making profit out of Bitcoin. It will make the demand high from the market which is good for the economy of Bitcoin. Using it if it is already leal in your country will be also a big help but if not, investing into it, I think is enough.

In my opinion use of cryptocurrencies in real world will be developed within next few years.
Maybe it will happen but it takes time,to become active and participate in cryptoworld just registered in an exchange site. And learned about cryptocurrency with these you can use and participate to earn income.

I see what you did there, darecky lol. You didnt have to make a topic out of it. You can always go to services discussion to advertise ethlance.com and get some feedback from the forum.

If you own the site, you can make an ANN thread and tell us more about the service.

I am really not intended to promote certain site but to give it as an example, but thanks for directions Cheesy

Thanks for other participants for replies. I mostly knew majority of things you've mentioned here, I was just curious.
And yeah, being active on this site and rank up throughout the time can be beneficial as I can participate in different campaigns etc. I got interested in cryptocurrencies in early Q2 2017. Just recently started to participate in discussions (so I made account here).

crypto currencies in general are not really currencies so you can not use them anywhere to purchase anything ever. there may be some extremely rare use cases for a handful of them but since transactions are not reversible those are not to be trusted since they are small and without prior history.

That has since been changed. Some sites and services have already integrated LTC and ETH as a form of payment, and we're not far from having other cryptos being used into online shopping given that the word is starting to spread out like wildfire among the general masses.

as for bitcoin there are lots of use cases, you can purchase many things from digital to physical stuff with bitcoin both online and offline. although this past 2 months it is becoming harder and harder to consider bitcoin as a currency though because of the higher fees.

Bitcoin is the go-to for crypto newbies and yes, day by day it's getting harder and harder everyday to consider bitcoin as your payment method given that fees are astronomically high at the moment. Hopefully this would change by the time LN is deployed.

To participate, you need to own cryptocurrencies. Some people just hold their bitcoins for value storage and wealth creation. But indeed, that value is dependent on a liquid, working economy. Looking at current transaction load, I'd say that demand for using Bitcoin is outpacing its capacity. Lightning or other solutions can't come soon enough. As recently as a couple months ago, I was still buying stuff with BTC a few times a month, but increasingly less so as the price rises.

Consumer usage is not the only use case. We are also looking at business-to-business (large account settlements) and peer-to-peer payments. Personally, I'm more interested in those.

Check out the Services forum. Depending on your skills, you might be able to earn some coins there. There's one in the altcoin section as well.

I haven't really seen any sites that are worth mentioning. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the bigger freelancing sites started integrating bitcoin payments. Square did it, Ebay is thinking about it.... why not?

In all sites with digital currency, BTT is the most beautiful site that I saw. We can earn money in just posting and we can also learn more about things we don't expected to learn. Like me, I am so stupid when I began here BTT but I tried to study things and now, I can understand what others talking. If you want to know how to participate, I can say that you need to learn things more to earn and participate well in the crypto economy.

Once you have become interested. For a start, you just have to read and understand what is this all about.

Basic knowledge is enough.

Using bitcoin as a mode of payment for goods has not been working and many online retailers are not using bitcoin not because bitcoin is not reliable and secure but because the mining fees too high and to buy something that is less than 20 dollars you will have to pay fees high than the $20. I think bitcoin is working for payment for services.

I think everyone starts in researching then investing. After that, people will find crypto related jobs that could fit in their expertise. That was what I did when I was new to this industry.
