I found a video 2 days old that got a GTX 970 up and running on ethermine.org

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9r6XlOX68g

After this one failed I knew there had to be something wrong now. I realized that I typed a capitol O where a zer0 should have been from the ether phone wallet. I still can't get Vertcoin to mine but I will worry about that later since I can at least get my card to work for now.

Neither -G or -U does anything. And opening the .bat file does nothing either.

I am looking at this set up guide but it uses outdated miners that actually have a physical install unlike genoil. So I am finding this comprehensive guide to be of no use unfortunately. https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-ethereum/

If anybody is using genoil, I could really learn this entire thing by just backwards engineering your own CMD screenshot. Seriously. What is this untold secret to making this go?

If I open the .bat file, it does exactly what any other miner does when I click on it. It just pops up the console for half a second before closing out.

What gives? I do not see any instruction that explains what I am doing wrong.

http://ethermine.org/

Based on ethermine which I think is an ETH pool and not ETC, I copied the code that it wants for the .bat file. I can see where it wants me to place my ethereum address. Not sure what to do for rig name.

I am completely confused about where it says to choose from the following stratum servers, and where does it want me o add that into the .bat file? one the next line? I see these addresses already in there so I guess it is just optional changes.

So I just need to run the CMD and launch Genoil and load the .bat file?

I am confused here.

I've gathered that I need to set up the miner through the command prompt. But I am confused about setting myself up on a pool and the wallet into the pool?

Say I want to mine Ethereum. Would the Genoil miner be good for both ETH and ETC? Do I need a separate wallet for each and than I need to find a good mining pool to start. As for other coins, less confusion. I just don't fully get the set up with the miner, pool, and wallet.

I'll take any mining for dummies help I can get and edit the basics into the OP for one dummy to the next who finds the thread on google.
