Hi just wanted to ask i was planning to build 1080ti and i would like to ask if how many 1080 ti do i need with psu corsair HXi 1200i platinum?
Can i run 5x 1080 ti with this PSU?
1080ti consume up to 300W, and even if you use a downvolt and the videocard consumes less power, it can jump higher sometimes. So i would not risk it

If your electricity price is high, it is better to run at 60-70%. That is more efficient.
^

200 watts is ~60% tdp iirc? Never had an issue with the numerous 1080 TI rigs i've had clocking @ 200 watts or less

I wouldn't risk to power more than 3 TI's off this PSU to keep it cool and safe. Maybe 4 with TDP set at 80-85%...

You can try but that's sort of pushing it esp if its on 120v and I'm assuming you would be tuning the power down? For example my 1080 tis run on 200 watts

I don't think I can post pictures as a newbie, but imagine a 8 card frame with cards in position 1 and 4 starting from left to right. Card in position 4 blows toward the card in position 1 and card in position 1 blows outside. The one in position 4 is the hotter one. So it does not make any sense. If 1 was hotter I would suspect 4 blows towards it and this is why it's hotter.
you can post links to a picture // one of us can embed it in the thread

It's the poor card who gets all the hot recycled air at the end T_T lol or the ones smothered in the middle like on the riserless 8 gpu board

Great guide. I currently mine with 2 ASUS STRIX O11G (http://[Suspicious link removed]/2DCVMq7) and they give about 730 Sol/s. Looking forward to include more.
thanks man Cheesy // how do you like them? what power usage / oc settings you using?
Nothing special: OC mode in ASUS Tweak Tool II only. The only strange thing I have noticed is that one of them is hotter than the other one 70-71C vs 64-65C although settings are identical, they are in an open frame.
can you post a picture of the rig?

what spot is the card on the frame? that's interesting O_O

Vosk,

Thanks for this, I was just looking at B250 mining expert or H110 Pro BTC+ board. BUT - both of them need to mix cards - AMD with Nvidia. You seem to have used just one - Nvidia and it works. Can you give more details on that please? Thanks.
I think a recent update has made it or will make it possible to not need to mix the cards on windows iirc

however I really only use linux for mining, and on linux you can use say 13 nvidia cards w/ no issues (i use smOS)

Nothing changed for it, just simply works

I like blowers. Not sure why people think they don't last longer. My hottest cards are always the first ones in the rig, which don't get air blown on them from other cards. When you have a box fan on top, the air across all the cards ends up being cooler.

Anyway, nice setup and great write up!
Agreed they get such a bad rep O_o

how much cooler do you notice the cards w/ and w/o the fan?

really appreciate it man and thanks for taking the time to reply Cheesy

Nice guide. I am about to build a rig, but I will assemble the frame myself.

I see you use cards with blower fans. Have you ever had temp issues with it?

Blowing the hot air on the back of another card does not seem like a long lasting solution to me, I am considering to install my blower cards on the side of the frame or vertical on top.
thanks my friend, I used blowers because well I just had the blowers, I kind of prefer blowers (maybe I shouldn't though?) for 2 tier frames like this one, because otherwise the cards kind of exhaust heat out of the side and top, which seems to heat soak the entire rig a bit more. W/ the blowers all the heat is shot out of say the back, so I just don't have another rig right behind it and it's good to go

You have a template you're using or free hand for the frame?

I think that would work Cheesy

Hey everyone put together a new 12x 1080 TI build, this time I tried to go more in-depth and my wire management has certainly leveled up. My first 12x 1080 TI build was pretty time consuming but this one went much better and really. . turned out much better I would say this is the rig I am the most proud of.

Anyway here's the full video tutorial guide on how to build your own 12+ GPU mining rig!
