You don't need any computer skills to get the eth wallet to work, but you probably do need a decent computer - its quite demanding and took me days on my netbook.

Yes. But I'd advise sending from the Mist wallet as its from there you can watch the smart contract and vote on proposals. Daohub explains all. Actually, tho' this is prolly because of my underpowered Windoze rig, I had a huge hassle sending my ETH from Mist - so much so that I wound up using geth (which went through with no complication.)
