Buying Bitcoin and exchanging it for other alts is the best option now. For exchanging BTC to alts you can use Changelly (changelly.com). There are some sites that claim to convert INR to ETH and others. I suggest you go with the trusted exchanges.

Cex.io and Zebpay both are accepting Indian cards, CeX.io fee is high about 10% and Zebpay are offering very trustworthy service, Zebpay is very short and simple as compared to Cex.io

I always prefer buying USD ---> BTC ---> blablabla

Official:
https://buy.bitcoin.com/
https://changelly.com/

Don't buy on Indian markets. Only use it for selling coins.

It is not recommended to buy altcoins or any cryptocurrency using debit card as you will have to pay extra 2% for using gatway payment method.

Or you can fill in money into your paytm using debit card and then use that to buy btc from localbitcoins using the paytm option.

Rates will be high though so not worth it.

Try Koinex...You can buy following coins on Koinex using Debit cards, credit cards, IMPS or NEFT services.
ETH/INR, XRP/INR, LTC/INR, BCH/INR, GNT/INR, MIOTA/INR, OMG/INR
I don't know the transaction fees they charge coz I haven't used this exchange till now.
BTC/INR

I guess most useless support ever , i am now waiting over 4 days for verification and radio silence from support . OP try using Moneypolo that will accept your Indian Debit card flawlessly but Hard verification needed for it , Video verification and all Smiley

you can directly buy btc from zebpay, koinex, unocoin etc but you need to bear some % fees. its better to deposit there your amount via netf/imps/rtgs as there will no extra charges

btc from where?

I found zebpay and uno charging to much
Although the price of Zebpay is more than that of international exchanges you should definitely consider it buying it at that price since the volatility is more in zebpay. You would have noticed that Zebpay's price is around $1000 more than that of international price but the thing which you didn;t notice is it maintains its price gap between the international market and Indian market. So eventually the profit you would make would be pretty much the same. Apart from that the services offered buy them is quite reliable and at least better than any other indian exchange. It is also safer than any other source. BTC is not yet fully legal in India and in this case I would consider zebpay to be the most secure exchange.
