Probably best to make a private purchase from another member from bitcointalk whom you can pm to meet privately in person. Post your city/state and contact email along with how much you're willing to buy (i.e. with cash or via smartphone) and then screen other forum members who contact you.
No local bitcoins for me. Those guys in Florida got arrested for trading more than $300 USD in bitcoins per YEAR. That is tiny peanuts that doesn't interest me.

I tried Coinbase and it sucked. Tried for a week to get credit card and identity verified but could not. Zero customer service. Only got copy and pasted answers to my emails and no phone number.

What about localbitcoins? Be careful how much you sell though, or you might catch the attention of the Bitcoin Police
.localbitcoins is good, but OP need to do lots of trades if he really wants to trade a large quantity of bitcoin...

Yup, but we don't really need how much is OP planning to trade....
You may still buy/sell dozens of bitcoins on localbitcoins.
But if you have 1000 btc to sell, you better find a better place
