Best to buy BTC with a virtual currency that cannot be disputed  Wink

Credit Cards are a lot of risk of you don't live in the countries where the sites are considered good option.

More and more places (exchanges like CEX.io and others) are offering the ability to fund your account (and buy bitcoins) using credit or debit cards. I think Circle does too - not sure, I haven't used them. Is this similar enough to PayPal for you? It wouldn't be my first option for buying bitcoins with a card but that may be the convenience some are looking for.

If you wanna buy bitcoins with PayPal then your only option is through Localbitcoin.

PayPal should belong to you and you may be asked about documents. Smiley
I used to use localbitcoins (I would be selling though) and got scammed twice out of 6 times, so 33% of the time I sold I got scammed. Their rates were also pretty ridiculous and it wasn't very automated. I just didn't find it worth it.

You just need a good Seller. If you are buying Bitcoins with PayPal then it is you who can scam the seller because of Dispute and all that  Wink
Buying bitcoins is a lot easier but you are the one who gets hit with the fees. When you sell bitcoins however you can charge much more but there is the risk involved. I know some people who used to trade a lot with me but they ended up scamming me one day *cough* candystrypes *cough*

Hi I'm new to Bitcoin and I've been looking around on the internet on how to buy Bitcoins with my PayPal account. So far the only website that seems to offer this is Virwox and they have insane fees (15%  Shocked).

Does anyone have experience with buying Bitcoins with PayPal? I'd greatly appreciate any help.

I really just wouldn't try. If you find a successful outlet you'll very likely end up incurring insane fees. I don't think there's a reputable service out there where this isn't the case.

If you're doing peer-to-peer there will be rampant fraud.

Paypal's not ready to go full Bitcoin yet.
I agree, theres not really any point, just massive fees which cuts holes in your profits as you exchange to paypal and back. If you live in canada try quadrigacx, their withdraws are 0% fees and their deposits are very good, straight from your bank account for 0.5% I think something like that.

Yep he is charging 450$ usd for a btc, which is almost double the actual price. But the benefit of this seller is you can pay with paypal which is easier for some people. I would really reccomend against ebay though, rates are waaay too high.

I've seen and read, a lot of people saying that is a bad business buy BTC by paypal.
So I'll just pass on the information.

It is and in general it's recommended you don't. That said I have used a service in the past (not around anymore) that did work for me buying and selling bitcoin-paypal but I only did small amounts. I suspect it's the large amounts the scammers going after.

"How to buy Bitcoins with PayPal?"

The process normally goes like this:

1. Buyer sends PP to sellers account.
2. Seller is never heard from again.

Bitcoin and Paypal are not a good combination, chargebacks can happen after weeks if not months after a transaction.

If you are determined to use Paypal, (apart from Virwox) you could setup an account on a site like Cryptothrift offering to buy btc like this seller:

Uhm, I'm pretty sure if you really really really wanted to use PayPal to buy Bitcoins, you can do that rather easily with LocalBitcoins:

https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/paypal/

Buying it there at a fair price is a whole other discussion though.

OK..... I'll suggest a better option. There are a large number of sellers who are willing to sell BTCs in Local Bitcoins for Western Union. You can send payments through WU online, using a CC. Or much better, go to a WU branch and manually make the payment. Much safer and secure than Paypal payments.

I don't think you'll be finding many people willing to sell you BTC for PayPal transactions. In PayPal transactions can be reversed by the buyer and PayPal tends to side with the customer, that way you could get your money back while still having the BTC - they won't be wanting to take that risk!

If you want to use PayPal then my personal recommendation would be VirWox.

They are an official exchange for the Second Life game that uses Linden Dollars as in game currency but you can deposit funds to the exchange using PayPal, convert it to SLL (Second Life Lindens) and the into Bitcoin.

Obviously the process can go both ways.

The upside is that using this website is one of the safest ways I have found since 2011 to buy and sell Bitcoin when using PayPal.

The downside is of course they will take a percentage for the conversions and a percentage of you PayPal withdrawls but at least you know there will be no chargeback etc.

If you can find a trustworthy person on the forums it may be OK to buy bitcoins with Paypal. Just do a little research a only deal with trusted members, with reputation and use escrow.

Due to the huge risk incurred with PayPal payments, they aren't usually accepted and even if they are, fees are very steep. There might be people looking to exchange BTC to PayPal at the currency exchange section. You may need higher reputation to provide assurance to the seller that you won't chargeback.

Yeah you are right i know few months back, when xmlgold.eu accepting pp to exchange with btc, but now they dont because they were got scammed by a charge back from a member. There PP is very insecure to exchange your money.
+1 I would suggest forgetting about mixing PayPal and bitcoin, it often ends poorly.

That's pretty risky for the seller of BTC though and I don't think anyone would sell to me, but I'll try.

Yeah , most of people don't like Virwox just because of the fees . I searched little bit and here what I've found :
https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/paypal/
Also you have this website Bitcoin Insanity , I found it on the bitcoin wiki . never used it tho : http://www.bitcoininsanity.com/

~ Madness

I also found Bitcoin Insanity, the fees are around 20% at the current prices (even higher than Virwox). So if you buy the 25$ option you only get around 20$ worth of Bitcoins. They also do not actually offer PayPal as a payment method when you go to the checkout, despite what they write on their home page.

That's why I never use any Exchange websites . I simply trade on forums like LeakForums , HackForums , BitcoinTalk forums which have "Currency Exchange" sections . simply you put your price and rates and you wait someone to PM you . but most of people don't use Paypal for trading with Bitcoin because Paypal can be chargebacked .

I used Virwox extensively when I first got into crypto in 2013, they do have insane fees but those only apply to newbie accounts, the more you use their service, the less you pay in fees. So on your 5th deposit for example, you'll be paying a lot less. The only thing is if you don't use them for a long enough period, your privileges are reset and you start paying insane fees again Cheesy
They are the safest out there though when it comes to buying with PayPal.
These days I'm using Circle and I'm 100% happy with their service, I would definitely recommend them over Virwox if using a Visa or Mastercard is an option for you.

Even though I am against paypal as a whole, if you absolutely NEED to use paypal to btc, make a new account not tied to anything important, escrow until the btc is in cash out of an ATM, then if you get chargebacked abandon the account. Someone else state this in another thread but I felt the need to remind it here.

Is there any way I can guarantee the other person in the trade that I can not charge back?

I read something about PayPal notes in the past where you had to go first + write a note that you have received the item without actually having received it. Does anyone know more about this?

EDIT: This would of course be done with escrow, but I have no idea how escrow works with Bitcoins. Also, thanks for the replies!

I would recommend NOT using paypal at all, buying or selling. So many issues with paypal and their ToS, as well as the charge-back scams. Using paypal quite regularely on localbitcoins as a seller of btc, I have been charge backed about 25% of the time and even with a large percentage of profit from paypal to btc, its still not worth getting charge backed 1/4 of the time.

There are a few people offering Bitcoins at around 300 $ at localbitcoins but unfortunately none at the current market price...

Yeah I suppose the best would be to withdraw the money and use wire transfer but it is quite a hassle and my PayPal is not connected to my bank either.

You may try localbitcoins, but it is unlikely for you to find someone to take paypal from a new account because of chargeback risk.

If I were you, I would just withdraw the paypal balance, and buy bitcoin with cash / bank transfer on localbitcoins. Don't forget to check the seller's feedback score first before paying.
