Man I haven't used this forum for years... good to be back.

I have a solution to the ERC-20 conversion issue.

This particular problem has affected too many people for too long now... it is far too difficult for non-technical users to convert ERC-20 tokens to ETH.

I have set up Ethersweep to do this:  http://ethersweep.com

Basically a one click solution to scan wallets and convert ERC-20/Airdrop tokens to ETH.  It's still a bit rough around the edges but it saves a lot of time and I believe it is the only service like it in the world.  Feedback welcome but go easy, it's my first Ethereum platform and still very much in beta. At least 20 UX tweaks queued.  Shout if you spot any bugs...

I hope you find it useful.

We can see how to change tokens to ETH in the announcements that are issued more often in the telegram that the exchange that will be used to exchange the ETH uses what and there is only a mat value that will be obtained according to the amount obtained from the project

I only see MEW is a wallet online and not an exchange, correct if I'm wrong. In an exchange like binance and bittrex, a token can be exchanged to BTC or ETH and other altcoins. However, MEW is only a wallet and there is no way to exchange tokens against ETH and I never found that.

but I agree with your opinion if the eth wallet is an online wallet if I think that exchanging tokens to ETH must go through exchanges such as bittrex or huobi depending on the coin or token you want to trade in which exchange.

To transfer the fund from the myetherwallet to exchange first we need some ethereum om the wallet to make transaction or dedicated wallet means it will be useful thing to do.
Directly on myetherwallet wallet there no option to convert it directly on ethereum. If this can be taken as suggestion on mew wallet then that is awesome.

its possible that mew will create thier own exchange if ever many people suggest it to them . it would be awesome indeed because we already know that mew is a trusted platform  , we can now then use our wallet pretty easy if we would pair it with a mew exchange  . that will also minimize the risk of phishing attacks because we wont need to login oftenly if we are using a mew exchange since it was already connected to our mew wallet .

MEW only allows us to store the eRC 2.0 or ETH token. There is absolutely no way to convert token-> ETH in MEW. So you need to transfer tokens on the exchange floor separately. In that, if the token is listed in the bancor, I think it's a very cool thing and it's easy to convert it.

There's no way you can convert your token in myethwewallet because myetherwallet is only a wallet where you can store some of your crypto currencies, the only way you can convert your token is by using exchanger site by selling it or trading.

There's no way to convert your token to ETH. You can only transfer your token to exchange like EtherDelta to sell it and get the Ether back to your wallet.

I do not think it is possible for you to convert your tokens into myetherwallet as it is only an exchange platform but take your time to check for an exchange where the coin is listed, convert it for ethereum there but be sure the exchange is legit before you use it.
Are you sure that its not possible to convert your tokens in myetherwallet?

And do you think that myetherwallet is ONLY an exchange platform? its an ethereum wallet and if ever there's a way to convert your ERC20 tokens that's through dex's.

You cannot convert your tokens into ethreum using myetherwallet as myetherwallet is an exchange platforms. If you find out that the tokens that you want to convert is listed in any exchange of both decentralized and centralized one you will need to transfer the token to those exchange and covert by selling them for Ethereum there.
You just have to transfer it to any exchange where it was listed then you can sell them or but new tokens that you like, then transfer it again to desire wallet to in cash it..

YouTube has the instruction how to transfer your token from Mew since its a little bit tricky..
This is what he need to do. I also asked this question here before and I don't even know that the simple thing is to see your tokens as coins which need to be buy by another person and not conventions.

The only way to convert your token is etherdelta exchange. They are the biggest exchange in the tokens market and most of the ETH tokens are listed there. However, to use Etherdelta, you need to use your private key first to export your ETH wallet to them. Then only it will be open for your use. So there's a security risk associated with it. So if you are holding some serious amounts of ETH along with other token, my recommendation will be, first transfer your ETH to some other wallet and then use the private key to export the wallet to Etherdelta. Sell off your tokens for ETH and move the funds to another safe wallet.

answers like this in my opinion are very helpful for novice users in terms of exchanging tokens they get. but I advise someone to help or control beginners in exchanging tokens,

Hi, i would be very grateful if someone could assist me. I truly have no idea what I'm doing, after watching and reading several tutorials I'm still none the wiser. I have approx 2005 FLOT tokens, i have an account with ether delta and metamask, i am trying to covert these tokens in to ETH so i can then send them to my coinbase acct and then to my UK bank acct. the tokens are currently in my 'etherdelta' acct and i dont know what to do from here on, please can someone guide me? thank you
First of all you should have some ETH for transaction fee.You can sell your tokens on etherdelta, you do not need your coinbase account. Once you sell your tokens for ETH, you can immediately bring it to your bank account

It is impossible to convert them straight to ether myetherwallet. Let me explain why:

First an the main reason, that myetherwallet is wallet (it is not a converter, exchange etc)
so its main features are storing your assets, sending your assets

Hope that helps))

in february, tayvano (one of the founders of MEW) did create a concurrent wallet: mycrypto.com.
does it have the same limitation?

As per my knowledge, FLOT token is listed on yobit.net exchange. It was also listed on more few exchanges but i would recommend yobit because their trading interface is much easier than etherdelta.
Just open yobit and search for FLOT, click deposit option and it will generate recieving address for the specific coin, send your coins to it and then you can sell it easily for ETH

Yes, I also agree with you because etherdelta is the most potential exchange to covert your token into ethereum. The exchange is safe, secure and reliable and it also have cheap low transaction fee. You can also use myetherwallet but be careful with the way you handle your private key because it is the only key you need to access your account.

Myetherwallet is a wallet that holds ETHs and ERC20 tokens, and you can only transfer tokens from the mew address to another mew address, not convert the tokens you have in your wallet into ETH. Want to convert so you have to transfer to exchange for sale to ETH or BTC.

No option to change the tokens into ether. Only you need to ether to send or receive the tokens thats it.

You can't convert all tokens inside MEW since you need to transfer it to exchange to sell it and convert to ETH or any other coins that you may use to gas your ETH or coins to keep on your wallet.

Perhaps it is best to make it clear that tokens, coins and any other digital asset cannot be converted, not literally speaking anyway. Any platform or service that allows you to convert is actually just doing the conversion internally (that is, the balances they show you are accounting figures on their own database).

Exchanging is what actually happens - you sell your ERC20 tokens, and receive Ether. The process is called exchanging, which is why exchange platforms are called such (you're exchanging tokens for Ether/ETH).

MyEtherWallet is simply a wallet. Practically, wallets are how you to "store" your funds, although that itself isn't really true as all assets are stored on the blockchain. You use MEW to view your owned assets, and use it to control your funds via your private keys.

I think that in myetherwallet can not lower the coin it is just where we save. I usually exchange my coins in the market like forkdeltha or other exchange that can be used to exchange the usual coin to eth. or btc. for the exchange idr for me more easily in exchange.

According to the experience, it is impossible to convert directly into MEW. We have to move the coin to concerned exchange in order to exchange them Ethereum, at the same time you need to find the exchange in which the coin is listed for converting.

Its simple, just find the exchange where your token is listed and connect your Myetherewallet to exchange site using metamask then sell you coins and you can receive ethereum if your coins sold. so that time your token is converting to eth in that process.

You cant convert tokens into ether inside myetherwallet , you need to move those tokens first to any exchange . if you dont know which exchange listed them then move to etherdelta or forkdelta with token contract address , or better to ask team info about exchanges .
normally ERC tokens are available on etherdelta / forkdelta / idex / token store type exchanges . you can also search on coinmarketcap , there if token is listed then you can see exchanges where it is listed .

You can only convert your tokens using an exchange like etherdelta if the coin is already lsted there.
Usually all exchanges have same procedure like you get a recieving address for particular coin and then send your tokens to it from myetherwallet, once your tokens are displayed in exchange wallet, then you are free to exchange them

I think no one can fund this. There are many ERC 20 tokens. One of them is junk. The easiest way is to put them on decentralized trading platforms like etherdelta, idex. but be careful. It asks for your private key. You can use metamask or transfer valuables in your wallet to a safe place

You should go to a crypto exchange. Apart from popular EtherDelta and IDEX, I would recommend Token.Store it's smaller, but also decentralized, very easy to use and has cheap fees.

sell your tokens into ethereum then transfer the eth in your MEW account. You cant sell your tokens as long as theres no exchange that accepts it. But today every coin will be listed on etherdelta first but thier bid is too low.

no, etherdelta is not the only exchange for token. there were also many exchanges out there like hitbtc, poloniex ,bittrex ,etc. that you can use to be able to exchange your tokens and coins. however etherdelta is the first exchange that tokens will be listed.

Quote
However, to use Etherdelta, you need to use your private key first to export your ETH wallet to them
you can also you metamask if you dont want to input your private keys directly on etherdelta by doing these you can also save your self from any other exploits like hacking or phising attempts.

Re: How to convert your tokens into ether in myetherwallet.com
you cant convert your tokens directly on myetherwallet rather you need to transfer it first on to some online exchange site like etherdelta. to be able to trade or sell it and then you should withdraw it again back to your myetherwallet to be able to withdraw your converted coins and tokens.

Do we still have to enter our private key details after installing the Metamask?

Sorry - removed my last comment - you shouldn't need to load your private key from MetaMask into ED, instead you login to the extension on the ED page and refresh the page and it will find your MetaMask account for you.

Otherwise you'll need to load in private key details - and most people don't advocate ever having to share ur private keys for security reasons.

However, if you are looking to trade and do share your private keys with ED, just exercise caution and limit your risks like using an account that only holds enough ether for gas transactions, and not the account with all your tokens in it.

there will be an announcement from an ico that will list on any exchanger, if it exists, you can directly deposit in the exchanger, then start selling or trading your token there, if your token is sold in ETH or BTC rate it will easily be converted according to rate your currency

I have a question about this : What is the average price of a token ? can be worth more than 0,1 $ ?

the token price depends on the market price, it may reach a rate of more than $ 0.1

First of all you must have an etherwallet. To convert your token into ether you must have an eth first , this will be your gas and fee for the transaction of your tokens. I recommend that you use etherdelta because it has so many compatible and available tokens. Once you have an eth in your etherwallet, you will have to deposit your token in the etherdelta to be able to sell it and be converted into ethereum. When you are finish selling your tokens and converted you can now withdraw your eth into your etherwallet. Its that simple. Smiley

You can send in MyEtherWallet your Ether to ICO address, where you can get - dependable on the ICO - immediately or towards the end of the ICO your ERC20-Tokens. For finished ICOs you can find their Tokens on Etherdelta or HitBTC, I'd rather use EtherDelta.

Ether tokens can't be converted but exchanged. Myetherwallet is a wallet, where you can save your tokens. Tokens are ETH based on Ethereum, but different autonomic cryptocurrencies, so you need an exchanger, as members here explained.

to be honest I haven't fund a way to do it directly in MEW, best option is to tranfer to Ehterdelta and sell which has the largest amount of ERC-20 listed tokens. Still you need a balance of at least 0.01 to do such transfer. Might be worth your while if you're trying to cash in your airdrops
