Sure, so I wonder just to make a basic coin currency to spread around let's say the saxophone community and jazz community for free and get people excited about a new coin that can be traded on exchanges without creating an entirely new technology.

I see that you can create tokens using bitcoin cash at mint.bitcoin.com
Also you can create ERC-20 tokens (though I highly prefer bitcoin because I don't really understand all the gas fees and stuff)

Do you recommend just doing that instead of trying to manage my own currency (maybe I can later launch its own blockchain once enough funding).

I am a marketer rather than a technician , and I really think launching a sax coin could be really funny and hilarious (and possibly profitable for the jazz musician community and other investors).

So instead forking and running a blockchain with possible nightmare scenarios (I realize there could be a lot of possible scenarios where the chain gets hacked by 51% attacks and things like this) do you recommend just minting tokens and calling it a day?

How to create a coin like litecoin or dogecoin?

You cant Those times are long one. They were created in 2012 and 2013. At that time was created 10000 similar coins, Doge and Litecoin stood out. So even if you would create it back then you would have little chances to make t that big.  In 2016 there was bitcoin blckchain fork craze. Soon after BCH was created. There was 100 forks of bitccoin. Again only BCH was left important.  You need to find something new and again then be lucky to stand out since you will be copied very fast. If you do any premines you will be history in a second.

if only to make the coin collection as self-sufficient as possible it could be done. but if you want to try to get creative to get into the market and take part in the big trades, that's very difficult. Not only do you incur high fees, but you also need to have a team that truly understands the sustainability of the coins you are going to make. It's not as easy as imagined, many of us have tried but still, creating a wide network requires extensive experience and expertise as well.

I did some studying and it looks like I could just fork the bitcoin core or other cores from github (and need to study the crap out of them as well).

In a typical ICO I believe I could issue out tokens which could later be exchanged for the crypto, no?  Because it looks like I could just issue out bitcoin cash tokens for free to early investors.

Yes I agree, I have no business launching a coin if I have no understanding- but I do have some understanding just not in depth technical knowledge.  So I will have to learn more.

It seems like I could easily piggy back off of some other code but I will get to studying and hopefully I can link up with some good people who could share a similar vision.

Yes let me know if you have input, thank you so much for those links above.

From what I can gather in order to run your own blockchain every server downloads the blockchain core, each is a tentacle with a life of its own but communicates with each other when each block is solved.  Difficulty, etc, are more terms I need to become very familiar with if I start my own blockchain.  Yes I will begin to study day and night Smiley

That's not an easy task if you don't have knowledge about programming or even you have the knowledge of one of the programming languages you can't easily make a perfect coin like dogecoin and litecoin.

Anyway, if you still want to learn about these coins you better start study first how does blockchain works. I have a list of sources to start learning blockchain from python, ruby, go and etc...

Here's the list

Read the first link about DIY Blockchain I'm sure this is what you looking for.

I know this is a terrible answer, but if you have to ask then you have absolutely no business even having the thought of creating a coin. You have years of learning to do about crypto before asking this question and when you do have the education, you won’t need to ask the question.

Hello I’m curious about where a good place would be to ask this question.  Where’s a good place to see how to make a litecoin or dogecoin derivative type of coin. I always loved dogecoin ever since I found it back close to when it started. The fast blocks and low fees and mine ability of it is quite amazing. Do you have any idea how to replicate this?

Also wondering is it possible to clone the blockchain and make a Bitcoin like knock off ?  I’m interested in alternatives to ERC-20 and all that. If anyone has any suggestions, you may have a pivotal role in the very starting of the crypto currency SAXE coin created by saxophonist Ben Saxe from the San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley)
