I'll give you a hand if you PM me with your current setup. Do you have a server with linux setup? And have you used linux before?

Be warned though. Setting up the pool is the easy part. Fixing anything that goes wrong can be extremely stressful when you've got a tonne of miners screaming for your blood.

That reminds me of this old saw that came from an M.D. way back when:

"It would take me ten minutes to show you how to take out an appendix. But it would take me three years to teach you what to do if something went wrong."

You will need :

A) Domain
B) A fairly decent server. VPS or Dedicated
C) Some linux knowledge
D) Patience
E) Be able to not crumble under pressure when things go wrong

If you have the requirements and wish to operate a pool PM me and I can help out.

As far as profit goes that depends entirely on what coins you host a pool for and what sort of hashrate you can get out of those pools. A decent server isn't cheap and most providers will require you to pay upfront.

I wonder how profitable is to own a pool.
Can any pool operator please share your experience, how much did you invest in creating a pool, how much time do you dedicate to it daily and how much profit do you get.

Thanks

AFAIK the mpos quick start guide wont work for VTC. You need to use a different stratum protocol.

Sorry about this if I am doing it wrong...

I am also interested and I don't want to hijack the thread...

Do I need to make a separate post and ask for help instead?

This! Or I would have been a pool operator myself, by now.

I'm looking to pick up coins at a faster rate than mining. I'm planning to create a medium sized Vertcoin (VTC) pool with a 0.2% minimum transaction fee. I call upon the knowledgeable people of the altcoin world to link me an easy guide to creating and home hosting a mining pool. The other option I had was to somehow re-direct 1% of the users' mining power to a different pool to create my own 'self managing' cloud network. Just brainstorming ideas Tongue

Can anyone help? I'll give 1 VTC to the man / woman who helps me Cheesy

This is what you are after i think however I do suggest doing a lot more learning/testing though because the last thing we need is more people losing funds on ill managed sites

It will prolly take you a few days to learn how to use mpos, stratum, linux, and compiling vertcoin and configuring them all. Possibly a week or two
Good luck Smiley
