Obviously any project that promises you any of these are either scam or dangerous investments plans managed by desperate developers

1. Huge ROI in short period of term
2. Risk free investments
3. Assurance of what to come
4. Big exchanges listing like binance

I have promoted projects that pretends to have listing plan on big exchanges just to make people promote the project and make investors invest too
Perfect! In the latest update investors got scammed are decreased so that is good look for blockchain, Many of new project are now very useful in the future, Today if your project are for only short term investors didn't participate they are looking now for long term investment and not for easy profit but in the end they are losers and wasting money.

Your first two points are the most telling, there is no investment that is risk free, all investments come with some degree of risk attached to them otherwise you will not get profits, but the first point is an even greater tell how they can promise that you are going to get huge profits in a short period of time, they do not get to decide how investors react to their coin and if they make those kind of promises I can assure you that sophisticated investors will not see that with good eyes.

First of all, it is necessary to find out what kind of project it is and to pay attention to such factors as the absence of the declared activity in it, whether other people's materials and data are used, the promise of a large income, the guarantee of minimal risks for investors, and the use of well-known names by the startup. All of the above items are a reason to refuse to invest in this project.

That is maybe hard but sometimes easy to know.
The easy way is checking who as developers. Try find as much information from internet. Check their Linkedin, Fb, twitter, blog. Also from mainstream news site. Check the photo is it fake or not.
Some scammer is take someone photo and small information about developer.
The hard way is checking the project code, mission, etc.

4. Big exchanges listing like binance

This is the most obvious lie and easy to spot the scam project with this.
Binance not allow the team of the project to disclose the information about listing there before binance announce it.
If there are many good and certain things promised on the project, we can consider it as a scam project.

Many scam projects have no team details on their website and there are some scam projects as well that uses stolen identities to fool people, i learned it on this forum that you can search images of the teams one by one with google image search engine, if you are very good with google search you will find this very easy to do, it might safe you some headache

difficult to know the project is scam or not but usually you can find out by looking at the team and from the concepts developed that you can see in the whitepapper of the project, a lot of projects are just copies of other projects and usually consist of fake teams.

Desperate developers and scammers can be identified from the way they deliver their services. Most of them show some haste in delivery and are too impatient for everything. They are easily irritated when a participant intends to ask for more information about the project in order to know the originality of the project. These scam and desperate developers often offer too good to be true discounts for investors - this is to lure investors.

sometimes using a large exchange site like binance is a good step for scammers. because investors will immediately enter without thinking about the long term. but for this we still need to be able to further examine whether a project will be in binance or just a hoax

Almost all news are cosmetics that make the project looks legit and interesting but there is no actual development being made that is according to the roadmap.  There is no physical office and no other means of contacting them except social media and telegram.

It's true. Silly scammers often use fake teams and publish photos of other people found on social networks on their official site. Many fraudsters also do not bother about creating high quality content, and they plagiarize whitepapers. In most cases, obvious scam projects are exposed by investigators during an ICO, IEO or other crowdfunding phase, so these fraudsters are usually got busted before they reach the soft cap.

It should be noted that fraudulent teams typically create self-moderated threads on popular forums and channels in messengers in order to be able to delete the posts with criticism. Of course, they will try to deceive investors by talking about a high ROI and promising huge profits.

Some of the projects have interesting ideas, but if such products or services are backed by fraudulent developers, most likely, a new coin or token will be dumped immediately as soon as the ICO is successfully finished and the cryptocurrency is listed on the exchange.

In most cases you will not recognize which project is legit and which is not.
Most of them are now very smart and and they look too good. Like new working blockchain mobile operator with passive income - Miracle Tele.

Even scam projects needs investment too. They are always have a good website and organized systems. Sometime they have much promising content compared to real ones, and most of the time, people trust these projects despite of knowing the pattern that they are routinely doing over and over again committing fraudulent acts.

I mean how you really determine it, I think the criteria you mentioned above are also part of the correct project, except that ROI depends on how fast the project is developing, and sometimes a project does not require a long time to get ROI.
of course all projects want their coins to be listed in large markets, in addition to increasing investor interest it also proves that their coins are not shitcoin.
You can determine it if they truly wanted to push their goal. Most of the time you can see the team's work if they are really working hard or not. It is indeed that all the above statement was also a criteria of a good project, but if you see that they dont pursue their goal, it's a different matter where you have to decided on your own if it is really worth it to invest.
Well, it is hard to determine when the project is just getting started. The best thing to do is to conduct research about the team behind the project. Look at the previous work or any available information of the developers and that is when you will balance things out if they are worthy to be given of your hard earned money.
Maybe that is why a lot of investor trapped in scam ICO, because at first developer look really serious and make investor believe that the project will be good and work smooth like what they tell in roadmap. But in fact, after listed developer looks like leave the project.
That is also the reason why the numbers of early investors in any ico decreased its numbers. They tend to see if the project will purse their goal than to get the early investor bonus. Investors wanted to see if after every quarter of the roadmap there will be any changes in the ico. It is also to expand the time they had to investigate more of the project.

For me, the easiest way is to detect whether the profile photo they are using is correct or they are using someone else's photo. And I also do not believe in bonuses above 10% because usually when entering the exchange the bonus does not provide any benefit if the price of the token is below the initial price. Developers who open a sale on twitter by sending funds directly to their wallet, are usually indicated by scammers. Of course, with the promise of a very large bonus.

I think that the easiest way to make sure the project is honest is to contact the exchange and find out if the negotiations are going to be negotiated with them by the project regarding listing.
If the exchange confirms this, then everything is in order.
Thus, you can check almost all exchange partners and find out where the project is telling the truth and where it is exaggerating in order to attract investors.
Most are too lazy to do even this job.

That is why promises should not be parameters for investors investing in the project.

Currently many projects that have sprung up are almost have same concept with the existing, examples of real estate, gaming, token based precious metal and others. Should the failure of previous projects can be a parameters to see whter this new project will meet the same fate as a failure too, always read well both the roadmap and the whitepaper because usually project that fail just copy paste or only slightly change their whitepaper from a pre-existing project.

We cannot really detect scammers, we can only reduce the risk by continuing to be careful and always critical in every project that emerges that we plan to invest.

If we'll only have these basis, we might only get confused because most projects these days do all these things to attract more investors. Honestly, it's really hard to determine if a project is legit at the beginning. Sometimes, observing the activeness of their team and their developers would also help. Just get rid of those projects who are offering too much or giving too good to be true offers without any assurance.

That's why sometimes its good to invest in projects that are already built or established, though there might be some project that we can give a chance depending on their idea, product and how they will promote it,  having a accurate plans and roadmap can bring success to them. I believe that even if they were not that successful in ICO or crowd-sourcing at least to have one or two companies that will support them through continuously updating and developing their system or product can attract more investors. I have seen bounties before that paused the bounty since there are private companies that support them then continue the bounty when the product is already out , simply to get more supporters. Good project ideas will soon be noticed by investors if its a quality project.
With how investors are thinking nowadays, it's really hard to anyone to bring their ideas into success they need to prove that it's worth it investing with the project. Many investors suffered loses last year so it's really hard to convinced them to invest in without prior research. Though good developers will continue and keep on doing what is best for the project, while scam developers will let the project to die naturally.

It's the developers obligation to bring the project into successful outcome and it's also that same team that lead it to nothing. Research and understand how this people behaves to avoid supporting those scammers.

I am grateful for your tips! nd i noticed that indeed, those risk free statements seems no more than absurd. I wonder how they get rid of risks.

You cannot totally eliminate risks as its always present in every financial investment endeavour. But what we can do it to formulate avenues to mitigate risks. And the best way to begin is by getting informed and thankfully, the OP has helped us in that regard. Finally, always be prepared for that element of surprise because a dev or project may not show those signs in the beginning but might still end up as a scam. Eg; Sparkster

Such a project cannot be calculated if it follows all the trends. About fraud project can be to speak only later some time. You need to compare the actual actions with what is written in the roadmap. And then you can make the first conclusions about the project. Be sure to check the team and find out information about each member. It's very boring. But it will save you from being deceived.

True! Never invest in the project that gives discount on time basis. As soon as coin is listed on any exchange, early birds dump their coins and coin never recovers such dump.
However, it is wrong to say that such projects are scams, it is just that their marketing strategy is poor.
The easiest way to detect if project is scam is by looking at the team. It is easy to detect whether team is genuine or fake. Also previous experience of the team could be checked.

Yes, but right now the situation is different from the tips you shared above, but the main problem is that we also don't know whether the project will end up being fraudulent or not? due to the fact that every project launched on this forum seems valid or real, but I think the key to the success of the project depends on the performance of the developer and the team in managing the project.

Most people are very wise now not to allow this tactics of luring them with huge rewards to get them carried away again and I think scammers will need to be wiser again now to deal with the existing and new developers as they will not easily give up their money to all these cheap methods.

Most investors nowadays makes sure that they first do their thorough investigation on the project and one of the check is to run a very thorough background check on the team, if the team can be verified and found to be worthy of people’s investment, I believe that there is possibility of the project surviving in the future, and another criteria is to run analysis check on the choice of product also, and see if it is a product that is going to be really useful to the public at the end of its release.

Not agree with the fourth point because scam projects may not be get listed on big exchanges but shit projects can if they got enough funds to do that.
Scam projects wont spend a huge amount of money to enter a big exchange like binance, scammers go with not so popular exchanges and after listing, there wont be any volume in the market. Sometimes they are all just committing to be listed in some known exchanges but as the time goes by, nothing will gonna happen. until all their supporters will wait forever.
Once developers got money their goal is reached if their intention is only to make money so they will not spend any money on binance because listing fee is to high if OP not aware of it.
Thats correct, they dont bother spending any more money for their coin to enter any exchanges. Their goal is to make money for their own. They will just gonna run after receiving the monet.
The sad thing is its hard to detect those scammers, they can create a solid platform but they cant finish it because they are not even insterested in succeeding the project.

Yes, these are good points. They are still being included in projects today.

I recently had a dev contact me and when I reviewed their offer document the promised/guaranteed returns were 250%.
They do not even have a working MVP. This is insane.
While it seems they believe in the project I could not agree to promote on faith.
Get more proof or raise private funds somehow.

Also when they want to "pay with a commission on my actual raised funds".
I say bye-bye to these "opportunities".

Though linkedin is not a good basis but of course its good if the people you’re talking about is real. I do appreciate those people who gives the signal if the project is good or nor, if legit or not. We have to take care on buying during the ICO period, if you can wait for the exchange listing do it because its more safe and good.

Indeed, many projects often take advantage of the popularity of big exchange to increase the popularity of their projects. Some are entirely aimed at deception, and new investors who do not understand cryptocurrency will certainly be easily affected. We should make sure in advance by asking the relevant exchange contact. Another thing is that you should check also the other reviews of other people in the forum if they are a legit manager that runs a project.

This is really true, in fact I have been victim though. Your first point is the most deadly because it preys on humans urge for quick return, carefully looking at them I see no difference between them and HYIP or Ponzi schemes. Also, in every Investment, risk abounds and any project promising otherwise have another motive, in the same way owing to the unpredictable nature of this space, assuring investors of good profit within a stipulated time spells bad for that project. However, your last point, only few projects have really succeeded in keeping that promise while a greater number used it as an opportunity to exit scam.

Basically it's everything that's too good to be true and could potentially attract greedy people who knows nothing about investment. Last time I see someone is offering 15% profit every week and that's a blatant scam or even not investment anymore but a ponzi scheme. The developers that are desperate of people's money also usually keeps on bringing unnecessary publication from not reliable media therefore making their project looks like legit while actually is not if you look further into the media that usually getting paid for some amount of money just to publish fake information about the project. This has happened so many times and it seems people nowadays are more advanced than in the past because most of them found it out just after the news being released that the website is usually a made up website.

Obviously any project that promises you any of these are either scam or dangerous investments plans managed by desperate developers

1. Huge ROI in short period of term
2. Risk free investments
3. Assurance of what to come
4. Big exchanges listing like binance

I have promoted projects that pretends to have listing plan on big exchanges just to make people promote the project and make investors invest too

These points are good to identify a scam project but scammers are now becoming smart with every passing day. Scammers are finding new ways to scam people. There was many projects in  2018 which were having good roadmap, strong team, regular updates and everything that signifies these projects as genuine but later they turned scam, intentionally or unintentionally. I think its very difficult to identify the scam projects unless  some strong protocols are made by crypto community.

Is it even possible not to be desperate in times like today?
I think its not. Basically every single project screams about itself with unrealistic superlatives.
Everybody wants bigger piece of this crypto-cake, enthusiastic exaggeration is getting really tedious.
The most effective way of spoting scam projects is limited awareness creation, i meant real projects cares less about the awareness and belief more in action...
I would even add that those projects, even slightly based on mainstream social-media, are most likely complete duds.
If something is good, useful, innovative and ground breaking in general, not much of advertisement is needed.
It will go viral regardless of adds, tweets, and encouraging campaigns. Real hype is better than fake noise.

How to detect scam projects? The team is anonymous 😂. Recently I found a project which gives 1% or higher ROI everyday which is really good. I visit their telegram group and I ask one of the admin, Can I have the social media of your CEO. Like twitter or linkedin. They cannot provide it obviously scam.

We can find good and desperate project developers which are serious towards their product by some features. If a project is active on social sites like twitter, facebook, telegram etc even after listing on exchanges, the project is active and desperate towards developing their products. I know active projects will give profits despite late.

I had stayed away from ICO beacuse of disappointment. Ever since the bear market started I have been with several.projects before and none had became successful and none of them survived. Some developers have a great way of getting investors during ICO and fails on delivering their goals in a timely mannner. Some would priorities their cpin listed thinking it would help the project grow.

You do not have to think about it too much, just look at the project and ask them directly. What will they do with their funds(if they are running a sale)?
if they want to use the fundraising to get listed on the exchange, you can be sure that it is going to be another scam project.
for airdrop kind of project, if they are asking or offering an opportunity for you to multiple the airdrop rate. That means this is too.

as long as they are asking your money no matter what it is, you can treat them as a scam project. It is as simple as that

Fake promises are very common from new developers with bad intention, they will give out huge bonuses that they can never recover from to lure investors and they will promise to list on the biggest exchanges even when they haven't meet their hardcap, investors needs to wise up

Stating that a project's coin will be listed in one of the best exchanges is something to look for investors. But of course you need to make sure that you are on the right path. What I meant from right path is making sure that the project is not a scam by its legibility. There are actually a lot of ways to spot it. You can even see it through their whitepaper.

Desperate developers and scammers are also in a haste in their actions and reactions. This can be seen very well in their whitepaper which presents lots of typos because there wasn't much time to go over for review. Whitepaper looks very concise. These desperate developers tend to ban members who ask lots of questions regarding the progress of the project from their telegram group.

Yes, these points are just about right. Many projects display unrealistic, unachievable goals that make no sense whatsoever and they try their best to deceive people and investors into looting their money.
It is better to read that whitepaper thoroughly and look in the background of the project as to see any flaws in the project.

I agree with this, most common desperate developers always bragging about the Huge ROI they can give to investors or sometimes they promised buyback plan just to let the investors think they can guaranteed profit. And the best thing if the project is scam, if they are claiming they have partnerships with big exchanges and they always said the name. That was against NDA from exchanges and that was never gonna happen. The exchange must announce the listing first before the project.

Another good way to understand the true motives of the project team is just to get to know and chat with each member of the team individually. It is also necessary to communicate with the project advisers, which are presented on the project website. Often from such communication you can understand the real project or not, but for this you need to have an analytical mindset, be able to compare facts and draw conclusions.
It is important to learn to understand the truth which the people you come in contact with are telling you. you can contact the team members in the early stages and they will be open and tell you everything but actually think how to steal your money

First of all, you need to carefully study the team members. There have already been many projects in which fake team members and fake photos - this already indicates fraud.

That is one tactic of many fraudulent projects. One should at least search the authenticity of team members and if they are using fake profiles, the likelihood that they will scam you is very high. Also, if they are working as anonymous project, what the OP presented is more than enough to doubt the intentions of the project. We can always see a high ROI project enticing investors. But how could they calculate your investment returns when they haven't even been listed in exchanges? Only naive people will believe their marketing propaganda, yet many people fall from this trap.

Seriously I just confused with the number four, is there any altcoin who launched by binance exchange who end up in scam? If there is, could you mind to mentioned it?

Since I know binance exchange is one of reputable exchange on this industry and most people will compete to store their money if binance exchange will lounch the new token/coin such as through an IEO at this time.

Indeed, the place of investment will not offer huge amount of profit in overnight or even with the specified time. At some cases there is many investor who lose their money because they get an offer from some people who revealing that he is an expert of cryptocurrency, whilst it's just a hoax.

Depends on the exchanges definition of scam. What binance considers as good coin may be scam too. There are lots of coins on the exchange currently that have nothing much going for them but they still exist anyways.

Real crypto projects should be decentralized and viable. It doesn't matter what exchanges think are real or fake

OP just set it as an example of the promises made, he could just said Big exchanges listing that's it. There are projects that promises to get listed on binance but never get to be on it, not even on binance DEX. Those are very important aspects of a scam project, but there are some more. If you see that a project does not have a serious team members, they are unable to answer your questions about the whitepaper, future plans etc. Or the most important thing is the lack of working product.

I think it is precisely when a program dares to register their products in large exchangers such as binance means that they really work to the fullest. because when a program is brave their program is listed on a large exchange, then the developer will not make a program that is less functional or can be called a temporary program that after its launch will disappear on the stock exchange. the development team will rethink, because registering it on a large exchange means that it requires quite a large fee as well.

There are so many other indicators as well and I think you are generalizing one parameter. For example, "an assurance of what to come" is indeed a necessary information that investors want to know from a project. Otherwise a future goal is there, how would you understand the potential of the project?? The absence of a future goal should raise a red flag!

Let me give you an example of a potent scam running currently, Minter.network! Look at their website and tell us what are the red flags that you see! I am sure, you won't be able to match your own points in this case!

Can see from the way they market their own projects. They will always be active and continue to update about the project they are building. If it is serious and wants to provide the best for its investors, of course there will be a roadmap that continues and is reached one by one.

But indeed from the very beginning the project was only done to deceive the investors usually there will be lots of promises that make no sense and are too excessive. It's a good idea to check their team and whitepaper, there will be similarities with other whitepaper projects.
