Bitaddress.org is a great site for generating paper wallets, you can encrypt them aswell. make sure to print more than 1 copy and keep them in different secure places.

Just writing some code

Generate an address on your new wallet. Send from your old wallet to your new wallet.

If you are really attached to one of your addresses in your old wallet, then you may be able to import the address to your new wallet, but this depends on the software that you are using.
