being able to restore immediately to an S is a lot safer than restoring to a software wallet and is a lot more convenient  than waiting for delivery of another wallet.

This. A secondary Ledger device is just so you have a backup device where you can enter your recovery phrase safely by entering the words on the Nano S itself(not using a keyboard), whereas if you enter your recovery phrase on a mobile/desktop wallet, your recovery phrase can potentially be exposed to a hacker/s.

In order to backup the Ledger device, what you end up doing is really basically a clone of one on the other. The procedure to do so is described here: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005434914.

As to the purpose of having a backup device (over just storing the 24 word recovery phrase), aside from what has already been stated (convenience for a prompt usage in main device fails), you can also keep if offsite (i.e. someone else’s home, knowing that it is a safety measure, and that the devices pin number should protect it from somebody trying to access it’s protected content – unlike storing a plain 24 word recovery phrase at the same location). If you do this though, just remember to update the firmware once in a while to avoid potential issues later down the line.

1. HOW CAN I DO A BACKUP of those amounts of assets that I have information on Ledger Nano X?
You would simply initialise the Nano S using the 24 word seed mnemonic that you got when you setup the Nano X. Basically, during setup of the Nano S, you would click the "X" button when it asks if you want to "configure as a new device":

It will then ask you to enter your 24 words. Once this is complete, the Nano S will essentially be a "clone" of the Nano X and allow you to access the same wallets/addresses/assets etc.

2. What is a purpose of doing this backup if anyway I can have a recovery phrase so I can restore it in ANY case? I would simply buy another new wallet and restore it, so what is the purpose of having a backup wallet?
It's just handy to have... it isn't necessary per se. As you've already stated, with the recover phrase you can restore into another BIP39 wallet or buy a replacement wallet. However, you might like to have ready access to a spare device in case you need to access in a hurry and the X is damaged/stolen/lost etc... being able to restore immediately to an S is a lot safer than restoring to a software wallet and is a lot more convenient  than waiting for delivery of another wallet.

Hello I am all set up with my Ledger Nano X and have something there. I have also a recovery phrase. I own Ledger NANO S apart from this which is brand new.

What do you mean? About what backup are you talking about?

I suppose that's just an option for these who need it? (even if idk what is that you're talking about); the only thing you actually need is your recovery phrase/seed. That's the key for your coins if anything happens with your wallet. Everything else is just for convenience.

I would simply buy another new wallet and restore it, so what is the purpose of having a backup wallet?
If you're talking about a non hardware wallet generated from the backup seed, some people may not want/can't afford to buy a new one, or need their coins ASAP and can't afford to wait for a new Nano to arrive.
