I just noticed mine was rattling today... perhaps the fan started making noise at a similar time for all of us   Grin

Also I believe somewhere the BFL guy said that it was ok to work on the fans as long as your were careful (ie not voiding warranty).

I had to do the same with mine. My rig already had a nylon washer between each the front 2 spacers. I added 4 all together and the fan is no longer hitting the case. I suppose I could have just bent the case out a bit to accomplish the same thing. One thing to note, any more than 2 nylon washers and you will probably not be able to get the USB and power jack lined up.

I think BFL just got some free engineering advice.

What?   Just go to the local hardware store and buy some for about 10 cents.

Sheesh, anything to make a buck Cheesy
At least it's good info.  I figure if anybody gave him a BTC for the washers, it'd be more like a tip for the help than anything.

Some BFL Single units make a rattling noise. This is in the majority of the cases caused by the smaller fan (enclosed in a copper/silver heatsink) that is touching the case. One very easy solution to fix the problem is to insert 4 screw washers between the bottom standoffs and the bottom side of the PCB, in order to increase the headroom between the fan and the case. I myself fixed 3 of my 10 units this way:

I can sell you some washers since I have plenty extra. Email me at [email protected]. I can mail (US only) 8 washers (enough for 2 singles) for 1 BTC.
