How to gain reputation? Easy. Become reputable. If you can use PayPal that also means you have the cash. People wont use PP because it's easily reversible. I've seen DannyHamilton offer to sell bitcoins for cash in the post before so I'm sure you could find someone to do the deal on here that way. Make a thread in the Currency Exchange with how you can pay and see what happens (but obviously don't send your money to untrusted newbs or use a reputable escrow if needed).

And don't stay a Newbie!

I second this, very good advice.
...and actually, OP, don't even post looking for reputation. Vod is going to come find you and leave you negative trust! Roll Eyes

Trust system is changing.  That won't be my job anymore soon!

It was a proposal I think. Not sure it's definitely changing yet.

Aww! Haha, but I saw the thread; "Removing DefaultTrust" or something like that.

Hello. I may be posting this in the wrong place.
I notice that newcomers get accused of scam when they try to buy bitcoin with Paypal. If they have no other way,eg even escows don't accept Paypal, then how can they get a good reputation?

Do a deal or two in which you are being trusted. It would be hard to do so now being that you are a newbie but you could probably do deals using escrow and other things like that.

You can gain reputation by completing a lot of deals over time. There are a very small number of people that have any interest in receiving PayPal so you are better off withdrawing to your bank account and buying with cash fiat.

It is important not to make leaving reputation (it is actually called trust) as a condition of a deal as this makes it look like you are doing trades for the sole purpose of gaining reputation.
