I'm pretty sure he's talking about Caleb, the Chia farm build Youtuber. He specifically said he didn't buy the cards at MSRP. He paid over 2x MSRP for the cards, around $800 each.

Still affordable honestly, I'm my country a rtx3060ti costs over 1800$, if I can get this cards at 800$ I'd definitely buy but ETH mining reward is going down and down every time now so we might finally have the opportunity to get more GPU at cheaper rate soon

A youtuber got himself 24 pieces of RTX3060ti for MSRP price and I still find it hard to believe, left him a message to get 10 pieces of this if possible but he never replied, anyone knows how to make this happen? I know GPU mining reward is going down but I'm in for long term purpose

He probably has good contacts. I think these days it's a good time to buy GPUs because the profitability for mining ETH is low compared to 1 month ago.

I remember I was ready to buy a RTX3070 for 2,000 CAD and now I can buy one for 1,500 CAD on Ebay.ca.
Still waiting for one RTX3070 coming from the US.

Just wait, last summer I could buy Rtx-3070's for $300 USD, brand-new in the box, sealed. Now of course u can find 'used' on amazon or ebay for $2k

Caleb is full of feces, last month he was promoted by WD and hyping 'HDD Mining' now that is kaput, he's hyping GPU mining, wonder who his sponsor is this time, surely nobody believes this bozo, that he bought 24 rtx-3060's at 2x msrp, right when ETH just lost 1/2 its earnings  for mining rigs. Well he's not using his own money, and the cards were certainly sponsored by somebody that wants fools to buy $50k of 'used gpus' at time on ebay, ... I saw that YT too, and tried to find out exactly, but he was avoiding specifically calling out his source, IMHO he's almost 100% bullshit most of the time, except for the fact that he is paid to 'influence' by the manufacturers.

Sheesh, the dumb&dumber, just keep getting dumber. In  a all these cards will be cheap again, just wait.

There is no reason to panic, because ETH just keeps getting less & less, now that its >1/2 what it was a month ago, so what's that mean, prices up 10x, and ETH ROI is dropping like a rock 1/2 to 1/4, ...

Problem is all mining is max'd out, and all the oligarchs are pushing POS, instead of pOW;  HDD mining is bile, and GPU ain't profitable, unless you are running old cheap cards from last year or earlier.

The push is on 'green' ASIC bitcoin mining, so all those 'dirty' asics should get pretty cheap real soon.

...

So let's see right now my rtx-3070's are doing about $2/day, like I said I paid $300, but now $2k, so lets say somebody spent $50k on two dozen, and got a whopping $48/day, sure you can say $1200/mon, but its going down and quick, and besides ETH is going to pull the plug on GPU mining, when they switch to POS. So you could say the ROI would be 4 years, but realistically its going down 1/2 a month right now, I don't know if its new miners, or just ETH reducing their fee's. But in the case the ROI would be 10 years, and of course these cards are dead after 3 years, because most people run them too hot, over-clocked and don't clean them.

Certainly the GPU manufacturers, know the game is over, and that's why they have their boy 'caleb' seeing the morons to 'buy' to clear all inventory before the fad is kaput.

btc-room101 your post is really interesting.
I mostly agree with you.
When you wrote " So you could say the ROI would be 4 years...I don't know if its new miners, or just ETH reducing their fee's."

Actually for the fee it's really the ETH Gas Market that fluctuates every day as you can see here https://etherscan.io/gastracker
depending on the supply and demand and how much fee people are willing to pay for fast transactions.
I am not talking about the EIP-1559 here.

On the long term I think GPU mining won't be so much profitable like it was 5 weeks ago but nevertheless I believe it will remain profitable because there's other GPU minable coins with real developments and potentiels behind.

Considering all that, this is why I started to build a server to be a validator node on the ETH 2.0. I am waiting for Rocket Pool to launch to gain the leverage with their smart contracts (we only have to stake 16 ETH and other stakers bring the other 16 ETH and we get a commission on these stakers when you run a node with RocketPool).

Ah ok last summer you bought 3070 for 300$ sure sure but wait when was the release? Oh wait it was 29.10.2020 hmm i want your connection to nvidia please XD
He's probably Jensen grandson. It must be very nice to get a card below MSRP, in a market where the stock is rare and no seller want to sell in loss.

I think Linus is doing a nice sale activity where he sold GPU @ MSRP. You need to depend on luck tho. It's not a giveaway anyway since most of those stocks probably come directly from NVIDIA or its partners warehouse.

$800 is not expensive  in my country price for 3060ti around $2000
