I guess the most important thing would be able to speak and understand Chinese.

Not necessarily, most staff in exchange are capable of communicating in English.

Hey Guys,
I have got quite a number of inquiries on how to get listed in Chinese exchanges.
Thanks for the interest and trust.
First of all, we don't help certain coins getting listed in exchanges. Below is a brieft intro of 8btc
1. Chinese media outlet, cryptocurrency news source:  http://www.8btc.com/
2. Forum/community: http://8btc.com/
3. Block explorer/Data: http://www.blockmeta.com/

Tips on catching attention of Chinese exchanges.

1. Media exposures
1.1 Articles, technical/ plain language are more popular.
    1.2 News
    1.3 Conference report
    1.4 Feature Report
Just to name a few, there are plenty more.
Columnist has more authorization to release articles.

Bither wallet just made the recommended wallet of bitcoin.org. The bither team also released quite a number of original articles via 8btc.

2. Altcoin forum interactioon (http://8btc.com/forum-43-1.html)
2.1 ANN thread. It has to be Chinese. and don't use google translators, which means the team has no real Chinese-speaking member and people tend to stay away.
2.2 Giveaway. It's not technical but certainly the most effective one.
Example: Duoduocoin is giving away coins  to gain its first batch of core users.

As far as I know, exchanges are picky in these days. But community is always a key factor. To kick off, you might want to build a community with Chinese-speaking members and manifestation of the community by gaining more media exposures (www.8btc.com) and forum(8btc.com) activities.

3. Bijie Interaction with certified staff of exchanges:

Jubi forums : http://8btc.com/jubi
Btc38: http://8btc.com/btc38
Questions posted on these subforums will be answered by subforum moderator, or certified staff of different exchanges.

In fact, most of Chinese bitcoin entities that are still alive have a subforum (http://8btc.com/bijie) on 8btc as a way to collect customers' feedbacks.

4. Ad slots on 8btc

Recently Smartcoin team just closed their 1000 BTC IPO goal after presenting themselves via our ad slots/forum activities/interviews/technical articles.

Last but not least, I could tell that the exchanges are very experienced in dealing with altcoin listing requests and they are careful not to get their fame tainted. It's not a sprint.

I will check the thread from time to time. You may reach me via miner#8btc.com. I will try to answer your questions the best I can.
