Merit is sort of like a point other members give to you, if they find your post content of a certain quality (dependent on them, not you). It's a requirement to rank up from newbie all through to legendary.

You don't get it, you're given it by other members for the above reason and you can in turn give other members merits when you've earned smerits.

Thanks for helping me.
I have acknowledged it. I have read and learned everything about merits from the FAQ link you shared.
Have a good day.

I'm hoping you can help me understand what merit is and how do I get it.
I would not refer to you as a newcomer or a recent user, you have been here since september of last year, 6 months is definitely enough for you to understand quite a lot about the forum including merits which is quite a popular subject around here. Well you seem more concerned with bounty reports/posts as that is all your post history is all about, you will need to change that if you want to start earning merits from users as such posts will get you next to nothing.

Yes, you're right. I joined BitcoinTalk in September 2021. But all I knew was bounties. That is why I am exploring which I should have done long ago.
Thanks for your response.

First so you know, merit isn't related to crypto-currency, it's just a feature on this forum, from the dictionary term merit isn't very different from what it is here in the forum, it's could be considered as a recognition/Award for contribution, if you aren't new here you should have checked at the frequently asked questions and even checked the rules, you have everything laid out for you.
You can't focus on merit when you haven't learn about the rules, this should be your first priority.

Welcome to Bitcointalk forum. There is a lot of great things about this forum, merits seems to be the most noticable by newbies. Like Upgrade00 said, merit is like a reward for quality posts. Read Merit & new rank requirements
Since  you are a newbie to crypto, I recommend you read books that will help you understand what cryptocurrencies are.

Essentially, a post may be merited for a wide array of reasons, being the theoretical core essence that it bears some interest to the reader. You’ve only got to read through some threads and see what has been merited to get a general idea.

That means moving away from posting bounty relates posts, and moving on to posting on content that is more beneficial to the community as a whole.
