Indeed, it does. However, you must log in to use the service. I tried an email that is tied to an account and it works.

To verify an account means, I believe, that you've linked a bank account to the PayPal account.
That is correct.

Pay Pal provides users with a verified link they can send to third parties.  It includes the users account creation date as well as other verification.

BCB gets info to confirm someone's paypal is verified

Anyone can check this ... in the format of:

 - http://www.paypal.com/us/verified/[email protected]

To verify an account means, I believe, that you've linked a bank account to the PayPal account.

So if someone had an unverified account, it is possible the funds came from a (possibly stolen) credit card.  Obviously an unverified then carries a slightly greater risk than a verified but both are high risk.

that link takes me to a login page

Sorry I was feeling frisky...

Does anyone use that verified link when doing transactions?

Has anyone had experience with DWOLLA?

Yes I play with Dwolla as well.  But I probably shouldn't tell you about my experience since you don't "play".   Cheesy

The problem with Paypal trades is Paypal isn't trustworthy.

Exactly.  In the thebitman case he claims to have not initiated the chargebacks, but instead paypal's own 'fraud detection' system did.  Same result, anyone who sold him bitcoins is out of money (though he has started to pay back).

1) three months of good forum business is NOT enough
2) moving money as a gift to avoid fees seems to initiate this 'fraud detection'
3) there are still tons of paypal scammers out there

The only rule that has worked so far for me is a tough one.....  only take paypal from people for bitcoins with people I have ALREADY met in person.

-WOT via OTC
-finding people who are willing to take a chance at first (usually entails paying crappy rates)
-build rep over time

all I use is pay pal and I set out to be able to use it convenentley by the above steps, building trust.7 months later, I usually get what I need with no problems at all. It just takes tiem and trust and a solid history of good transactions.

So the main answer? Time...as easy as it is for me now, I went through about a month or two of being flamed etc. for being a scammer. Yes those people look stupid judging me, but they were in the right because now that I have seen more of the bitcoin scene most poeple who use PP are in fact scammers.

ETC. Tell me what would do it for you

There is a big difference between using PayPal to buy bitcoins versus cashing out bitcoins where someone pays you via PayPal.

For the latter, there are a number of services that offer this, including:

For buying bitcoins and paying with PayPal, that is against PayPal's acceptable use policy.  [Edit: Here's a good description of the risks:

Because it is a P2P transaction, they aren't always aware of it when it happens so that's why you'll see plenty of successful PayPal P2P transactions.  But that doesn't make it a smart thing to do.  Here are some methods:

With VirWoX you can buy SLL using PayPal or Credit Card, then trade SLL for BTC:

This does't help you get bitcoins right away, but in the future you can buy physical Bitcoin, paid for with credit card:

Here's one method those in the U.S. might be able to use to buy bitcoins using credit card.

There is a new money transfer service called Remitly.   They let you send funds, with the transaction funded by a credit card, to the Philippines -- via the GCash network.  This is primarily intended to be for remittance payments to the Philippines.

There is an exchange in the Philippines that performs exchange to and from bitcoins, and accepts GCash payments for the purchase of bitcoins.

So, ... to use Remitly, the send money form will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and last four digits of SSN.

The Philippine exchange:

This method hasn't yet been attempted so if anyone does try it, feel free to share the results.

I don't call it playing. I've used it and had 13 successful (so far) trades. no chargebacks. But I can see how easy it is to just make an account (make multiple accounts) and give yourself feedback.

Some people link their twitter & facebook, etc. But that removes the anonymity that's supposed to be a benefit of bitcoins

Wondering what your threshold to gain trust, does it take seeing someone on here 6 months with no scam and at least X amount of pots?

Post a video of him with username showing he's a person giving his face

posting image of ID

Past trades (this means he/she would have had to start off with newbies himself because most 'trusted' people will not trade until they have feedback already)

meeting them in person

ETC. Tell me what would do it for you
