You can do this via aurumxchange. After confirming your transaction from mtgox it creates a bitstamp code and you can redeem your USD with that. The problem with this is that the fees are so big that you lose more than the 10% during this transaction. There is just no way of transferring money cheaply between the exchanges and that is why the price difference is so big.

Ultimately, what I want to do is transfer USD from mtgox -> bitstamp.

but i'm confused how to do this?

Clearly I need to convert the USD at mtgox into something bitstamp can accept, but I don't get the first step.

Is it done via:

https://www.aurumxchange.com/exchange

That lists VouchX as a source and bitstamp as a destination, but how do I get VouchX in the first place?

There is also bitinstant, which can change VouchX into bitstamp code but again I don't see how to get MtGox USD into bitinstant.

Any help appreciated.

You can do it via bitinstant, introducing the bitcoin address of bitstamp, and the quantity you want to export in USD. The problem I found with this method is that bitinstant does not transfer the usd, but the equivalent bitcoins instead! So, it is like to transfer your BTCs from mtgox to bitstamp with an extra intermediary: bitinstant, that turns out to be redundant. Regards

Using https://www.aurumxchange.com/ you can (apparently, havent tested it yet) transfer USD from Bitstamp to MtGox at a fee of 1% but you cant seem to transfer money out of Mt Gox and in to Bitstamp Sad

Not right now apparently.

The point is doing arbitrage you need to be able to shift USD cheaply and quickly between exchanges, not just moving btc around, which is obviously a no-brainer.  Some of the smaller exchanges offer a number of ways to send USD to other exchanges. Unless I understand wrong, MtGox no longer allow this.

How about buying bitcoins on MtGox, sending them over to Bitstamp, and then sell them?

Err ... because coins are 10% more expensive at MtGox. I would just lose 10%

Is it because my mtgox account isn't verified I can't see a way to create a mtgox redeem coupon?

VouchX seems to be in closed beta currently.

OK ..... but I'm still stuck on the first step unfortunately, actually turning MtGox USD into "something else". I read somewhere:

"Use the USD funds on MtGox for creation of a MtGox coupon code."

Where do I do this?
