I think the biggest drawback of the publicity and new article is when they mention the volatility and the risk of bitcoins falling to half the price.
That is one reason, I know a lot of people, don't want to try it.

don't forget about sr, mate.  Cheesy

I don't think Silk Road is the cause for people perceiving Bitcoin negatively in India. Did SR vendors do international deliveries?

As far i know, yes.

I'm looking in their description about shipping.

Just make your own media from now.

So far, my site http://www.cryptocoinindonesia.org/

I'm only give the less negative news due the adoption. And show more and more a good news about Bitcoin (including: product/services that's received Bitcoin) in our country now.

Old thread, but looks like media coverage of bitcoin has not changed in the last 6 months. Smiley
I wonder for how long bitcoin will be compared to a ponzi scheme?

Generally challenging bad media leads to cat fights, or provides more fuel onto an already negative discussion. I am no PR consultant but from what I have seen most representatives take the approach of showing the large community that has grown and pointing to the massive successes.

Most negative news always centres aroung sudden events, you see that sort of argument with climate change for example. If you take the overall picture though over xx period then you really have some striking results for bitcoin.

I don't think for a moment that Bitcoin is out of it's drama phase. There is going to be a lot more issues, probably on a scale larger than we have seen to date. Though this is the nature of the beast. How the whole globe can come together behind a decentralised currency is something special in it's own right.

Keep on your own talking points, not those given to you by the media. :-)

When computer invented many people and politicians objected it but then they realise power of it later on they accept.
It takes time to accept them new technologies because all those people are not from old generation. Our generation and new generation accept it very fast.
However its good for us now. When they will realise power of it we people we will be much ahead and may be have done masters in crypto currency.
There will be a day when this crypto currency will rule. And say good by to tare notes, keep changes in pocked or accpeting chocolate as currency from shop keeper. llol

A very good article on how to deal with bad media publicity. Generally people oppose the change be it a bitcoin or any new technology. Only time will change the tone of this media !!

The role  of media is of paramount importance when it comes to adoption of a technology by people..

So far Indian media articles about bitcoin is very less when compared to US and europe, and those articles written or reported, while some of them applaud bitcoin, many of them are skeptical and some of the them even portray bitcoin as bad and scam.

So how to handle the situation to make people understand true facts behind the bitcoin technology
