That button does work but it's used for watchlist topics, if yiu want to follow some topics desired by you then you just click on watch this topic and you'll see new replies in watchlist section. Why the button "unwatch"? It does not work?
Easing watchlist is pretty east , just add the threads to watchlist on which you comment and would prefer to check regularly.
You can remove any thread you want anytime. So you get your own customer list of threads you would prefer.
You can even add threads on which you haven't replied or don't want to reply but prefer lurking on them.

The unwatch button works fine if you are using the watchlist. You cant get replies removed from "new replies to your posts" without removing all of your posts in the threads. Thats why theymos made the watchlist.
