Forum administration/management is doing its best to provide a better user experience for everyone and we should trust those efforts. Read as much as you can and try to understand the things and concepts. You can begin with 'Beginners & Help' section, you will find answers to your most of the queries in this section itself.

You know what my friend no one from all of us here, not even the legends can give you the right answer to your question for how to earn merit. The only answer that can feed to you is make a quality post and don't expect merit, if you do this you will be save from possible upset emotion of recieving no merit for your quality post. I give this advice because I saw how the merit being misuse and abuse and become a discouragement of the quality posters.

it's not as difficult as it seems. Just talk, share the experience with people and someone will certainly thank you by merit. Of course, newcomers now have more difficulty than before, but if you are an active participant in the forum, your rank will grow sooner or later.

Merit is given for constructive, helpful or insightful posts. Generally if you are looking to be persuasive or interesting your writing will need to be of a reasonable quality. If English is not a strong language of yours i would recommend checking out a local section that may have your native language on it. I would also recommend having a look around the different sections of the forum and see what other people are posting about, see who is getting merit and for what and generally immerse yourself in the community. Encouraging new members is the best way for this community to grow and that is what the merit system aims to achieve.
